Here's my plan:
This is probably going to be my first and only movie, of which it will Ninja Gaiden 3 through Ninja Gaiden Trilogy. However, there are 2 things I plan on doing:
1. Create a very little tool-assisted movie, which uses human reaction time. This means that I will use save states at the beginning of the levels/acts and right before bosses only (and only 1), and that means if I "mess up," I start all over again from the beginning of it. There will be assistance however for the cut-scenes/etc. to make it faster though. I am just asking if that is fine...
2. Create a tool-assisted movie, using whatever I am allowed to use. Very straightforward: create a run-through that is supposed to be inhumanly possible to play real-time.
I will try to find as many bugs as possible and use them in both (especially #2). I'd rather find them myself/use ones I know, however.
The object of both is aesthetics. Time will be a concern, but not even as close as aesthetics. And for the first one, I guess you will just have to trust me, and judge for yourself whether or not I did use assistance as I said I would not.
Also, I might not begin immediately, since I have school and stuff (but spring break for me is coming up..).
Sorry for popping up suddenly, but I just want to know if this is ok. Do I have to do something special, like play it in NES only, or anything?

I would use the NES version, as there is already a published run using it. I also don't think there is any real difference, other than the color on the SNES version is horrid.
What is the point of the first run? To try and make it seem like it's tool-assisted with using the minimum amount of save states? The fact that you are even using them at all kinda defeats the purpose of that...
The 2 main reasons for using the SNES version is the fact that I am used to working with the SNES emulator more, and also it would sort of count as a different game... but on second thought, I will probably just use NES, since it sounds and looks better, and because I haven't thought it through completely on the SNES version.
I just want to make a run-through that isn't tool assisted at all. It basically means that I will play it normally. I dunno... I'm just throwing ideas out, and wondering if it would be supported. I also know that there is already one out here...
I know that we have individual runs of the 3 games on this one cart. However, I would like to see if someone could do all 3 games in a single movie, with the changes that are put into the SNES version.
Since folks go for speed, a storyline watch (make it a movie) style would be far too slow. However, I think that a redo of all 3 games would be pretty entertaining.
Well, as far as I've seen, there were a few small changes, like maybe a few bugs fixed. I'm sure someone would be able to pinpoint what the changes are. I never got that far in any of the games.
The multiple-scrolling of the desert in the 3rd was also removed.
Music was changed (boss music was recycled from episode 1 level,) tile wipes between areas, etc. Graphics not improved much and so on...Really disappointing by SNES standards.

Yes. In fact, I got a hold of its ROM the other week. One of the biggest changes I noticed was the cool color-changing effects in the status row (top of screen) for II and III. That was not featured in this trilogy.
I understand that each game has an ending movie. But why can't we just defeat bosses in I and II and instantly hit the reset button (like that one player did on SM Kart) just to save time and go on to the next game? It's no problem to skip the ending movies on I and II and just end the TAS input for the third ending, right?
The trilogy port to the SNES is really pretty lousy, in the area of music especially. I don't consider the port to be an improvement in any way; the NES versions are better.
