Anyone making plans for a 100% run for any of the Zelda Games at all? I just started watching the current WIP for the current run for this game, so I'll let you know what I think of it soon. :3 EDIT: The run looks good so far. ;3

100% for this game would be pretty boring. You would have to do a lot of kinstone farming in order to get things in a good fashion, and all of that added unskippable fusion and cinematic that occurs from it would get tiresome. Also, wouldn't 100% require you to get every collectable from Kakariko? Would'nt that take at least 15 minutes to complete on its own?

kinstone farming and fusing is ok when watching, it can be distributed evenly over the whole run. It's a bitch to play though, you'd have to constantly check if there are any kinstones hidden in monsters or grass nearby. (rescue the princess? hold on, I have to mow the lawn first, need kinstone peaces!) Getting rupees and buying kinstone peaces in the village is another option, if kinstone drops are too rare. Buying things at the bread shop (?) will sometimes yield kinstones, and there's the expensive kinstone-merchant that appears after a certain fusion. (maybe others, don't remember, don't have VGB here) You'll get a good share of money by killing those golden monsters, although some of it is wasted buying the bigger rupee bags. And you can always do this stupid pick-the-right-chest-game for a quick but boring refill of 999 shiny gems. The worst thing in a 100% run is buying those 130 figurines you need for the heart peace. That's not funny not watch and not funny to play, and IMHO reason enough not to touch the 100% category on this game.

True, but even more so is that to get 100% you need to beat the game so you can get the Mirror Shield. ending a movie after that would look really bad, and anything you do after that would be repetetive (eg. going to kill Vaati again). Personally, in the case of Zelda and Metroid games, 100% runs aren't impressive to watch (for me). There's just too much time spent getting many things you dont even need at all to beat the game into submission. No progress update on this just to note, past the last wip posted all I've done i gone and powered up the sword. I'll come back to it after the BoF2 test is done.

There is a trick to save some more time on the first boss. When you suck his feet out, he'll wobble and fall. If you stay on the same side, it takes 4 wobbles (away, towards, away, towards and fall). If you walk to the other side, he'll only wobble 3 times before falling (away, towards, away and fall).

A bit late, since I finished that part a long while ago, but I'll see if I can incorporate that into the run somehow without too many desyncs that'll it'll almost certainly cause.

Even if you can't change the first fight, isn't there a big blue chuchu later on?

I found a sequence-breaking bug in the game, but unfortunately it's totally useless. In the beginning part of the game, you get sent to Minish Woods by the king. To get there, you walk by Lon Lon Ranch. A guard will be standing by the ranch preventing you from getting in there. When you go to Minish Woods, you'll get Ezla. At this point, turn around and head back to Lon Lon Ranch. The guard will be gone. Use the tree stump and go inside to get the key. This sequence break is pointless because the game doesn't let you use the key until you're forced to get it anyway. The door will ignore you until then. It wouldn't surprise me if this game's scripting system were like Final Fantasy 6, where the current game state determines an entirely different event map. Games that always have all events loaded but use "if" statements to block them tend to have bugs to allow this kind of thing, like Final Fantasy 4. Note: I don't remember the *exact* details of when you go get the key. Melissa

1864. Atma said that he has made some progress, but he isn't releasing the WIP to the public.

What are the current status of this run? It is one of my absolute favourites for GBA and I would love to see this run.

Last I saw, Atma had beaten fixed the Four Sword and entered the Wind Shrine/Ruins/Whatever.

you'd have to bend your definition of "shortly" for this to come true. But I'm sure it'll be finished eventually.

Hate to bump this topic, but someone should seriously consider continuing work on this run.

Current WIP is retrieving the first library book, at the point where the fireplace is extinguished. Seriously, don't post useless bumps when you could just PM Atma or bug him on IRC.

At the beginning of the royal valley dungeon, is it faster to kill the mummies or burn them (without killing) to get the small key?

It is definitely faster to burn them. Or, more precisely, burn only the one holding the key.

Atma is lazy and doesn't want to kill the Skittersx4 that guard the Flippers.

Correction, they guard the power bracelets, not the flippers. They wouldn't co-operate with me and die fast and efficiently, so I just kinda stopped working on it for a (long) while. Then I gave the wip to Zurreco and asked him to do that room for me so I can continue.
