Anyone else watch this: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/2006/04/smbrace.html? It looks like they are crappy speed runs, but I can't be sure. What do you think?

It looks like it's just two people playing the game as fast as they feel comfortable with (not especially fast compared to any real run), with Less Than Jake playing in the background and people randomly cheering for who knows what reason. I'm kind of confused as to why that video is in any way interesting or noteworthy (and on any sort of video sharing site) to be honest.

It's just a race played once. How is that hard to see?

The Players looks a bit like Mario and Luigi. And they finish the game near at the same time. I think this was just for fun and a show. When someone was a bit faster he wait maybe later a bit till the other catch him again. But great work.

Oh, I believe the reason why that was famous is those are both well-known SMB speedrunners. One of them has the record, iirc. But yeah, they're just futzing around if this is the movie I'm thinking of. EDIT: From youtube: "Check out the above video which shows a friendly speed run competition through Super Mario Bros. on two NES consoles. Jeff Ninneman and Jason Harmer's personal records are 5:11 and 5:09 respectively, but this video clocks them at just over 6 minutes. It's hardly a tense match (they both fool around a couple of times) but the ending is a true photo finish. It's great to compare the two NES gamer's techniques and to hear the crowd of supporters cheer as one opponent overtakes the other. " Yah, it's the same one I was thinking of.

I thought it was a really cool video. I'd love to see it with more games. It also reminds me of Video Armageddon in the movie The Wizard... and there's nothing cooler than that!

Twingalaxies i got verified. speeddemosarchive wont accept it cuz it has to be 1 second faster than the video already at SDA. i timed the guy's run at SDA by their rules and got 5:06.95, which really stinks cuz i would have to get a perfect game to replace the video.... EDIT: one more thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmdhmp7GZrs the fastest video
