This is a run of Super Metroid of 14%-Route. (Ice Beam route.)
Clear Time - 00:35
I have never seen this kind of movie. So I made it by myself.

Note1

vs.Ridley and vs.Mother Brain needed a lot of times.
So, You can skip these battle-scene. (Use Frame-Skip-Function.)
Here is a 'Playing-Frame' about the end of these long-scenes.
Ridley - In 101000.
Mother Brain - In 170000.

I already have known about my mistake.
I missed 'Power Bomb(Super Bomb)'s damage to Ridley,about 200damage.'.
So, I shooted him by Ice-Charged-Shot,frequent 4~5times.
But Please excuse me. Re-Record(remake) about this movie is hard to me(IF I remake this one, I must shot Ice-Charged-Shot to Ridley and Mother Brain,100times over correctly,again.(^_^;))

Why the murder-beam glitch is not used?

Because that glitch requires all the beams.

Yeah,you are right, and sorry.(^_^;) (of cource I can understand your joke.) But, this time is true. When I was making my new(00:27)movie, I was worrying about my mental(and my finger;), seriously... So, I think that it is better stopping to make a movie, for a while...

I saw this thread, a few days ago. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=552 I tried to understand his(Kyrsimys) meaning. I could not understand this thread perfectly,but I think that he wanted to say "you(movie-makers) must aim 'Perfect'". This is a reason of my asking. As you know, "Almost" is not "Perfect".(^_^) Of cource, it is an ideal. I know that "Perfect" is very hard.(^_^;)

This has become one of my favorite movies. Are we sure that using even less items would be impossible? I know there was extensive discussion regarding Varia Suit and Gravity Suit, and if the Gravity Suit completely obsoletes the Varia Suit. Was a conclusion drawn about this? If it was, since you get the Gravity Suit before visiting Norfair the Varia Suit might not be necessary. Also, is Ice Beam necessary? I know it would make boss fights even longer... but the only reason it was picked up was to freeze metroids, right? Would normal beams bounce them away as in the Metroid 1-item video? Would missles?

If I recall correct the doors in Tourian (where all Metroids hang around) are grey. This means the Metroids must be killed to open the doors. I don't know though if it's possible to kill them without the ice beam.

If I recall correctly--and I may not--the conclusion was that the Gravity Suit obsoleted the varia EXCEPT for when Mother Brain plasters Samus against the wall. Note that it's quite possible I'm remembering this wrong.

Emptyeye got it right. It's either both suits (2%) or one suit and a bunch of energy tanks (>2%). Mother Brain's rainbow laser thingy is the only attack where the suits layer protection, but also the only one which you cannot avoid.

It's possible to not get the Ice Beam, but I think you then have to get the speed booster. Metroids can be killed by Power bombs, but it's very slow and one would have to go back to restock them at every turn. A lot of this has been discussed in the Super Metroid topic.

i can´t get this movie working, it seem like the saved game is in the third slot (where the game should begin) and the movie starts on the first slot (launching the intro sequence) does anybody knows why is this happening? and what am i doing wrong? im using the only (ju) version of the game that i got and other "normal" versions. thanx for your help

The third save is left over data from a different run of his through the game. It doesn't really have anything to do with the run. It is suppose to go through the intro sequence.

On a somewhat random note - has anyone mapped out where 100% items are? Would it be even remotely possible for a tool-assisted 100% run of the game? Was going back through my videos this morning and noticed it. Then again, I remember how ridiculously obscure the secrets are...
YtterbiJum, on SMB3: I've tried 20+ times and it always desyncs there. Unless, of course, Genisto meant to die, use a star on the map screen, go in a pipe, and jump around till time runs out.

There is a forum on it in the SNES games and was being worked on by Michael Flatley, but it seems to have been put on hold. Bummer.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question (I am new here), but can anybody explain to me why, if this is supposed to be a least possible items run, the author gets three energy tanks? Sure it would take a lot longer to painstakingly avoid damage enough to make it through the game with less, but who cares? There is already a speed run movie on the site...this is a least items run, right? Wouldn't it be possible (though perhaps only with inhuman effort on making the movie) to finish this game without ever taking any damage at all, let alone four energy tanks worth? (Excluding of course the parts where you are required to take damage to progress in the game.) I've sure seen it done for lots of other games on this site... I direct this question to the board as a whole rather than the author directly as I suspect it's a bit too complex to break the language barrier. Not a slight on him of course...I can barely understand a word of Japanese myself.

Once more, I'll explain it. Three tanks is the minimum required to survive Mother Brain's deathbeam/brainwave/whatever. If you have less than 3 energy tanks and you make the mistake of saving in Tourian, you're stuck.

It doesn't really matter in terms of capacity/usability, but the reserve tanks are hidden much better (except for the first one, near the early Super Missiles pack) than the regular energy tanks. Look at Teri's run closely, and you'll see those four energy tanks are all in his way.

Oh ok, that was easy. I had just assumed the Mother Brain's attack drained you to "almost dead" no matter how many tanks you had. Thanks, sorry if that answer had already been posted and I missed it.

I mean, will using reserve tanks shorten Motherbrain's brainbeam? So you only have to grab one. And no energy tanks. It probably won't improve the ingame time at all, but it might improve the overall time if it even works.

Yes, if what I'm thinking of works (using the time it takes for the reserve tanks to fill the energy tanks to waste the brainbeam's time so less energy is required.) If Teri grabbed 3 energy tanks and only 1 is required for this trick then the percentage is improved.

Umm… MB's beam deals a fixed amount of damage (something around 300—350, IIRC), the energy tank carries 100 units of energy, and so does the reserve tank. You won't get any time saved cause the manual refill is accessible only when the game is paused (and you can be sure MB will continue her attack immediately after you unpause it), and the automatic one acts as if you'd have another energy tank with you.

Ah, I thought while refilling the game continued, so the brainbeam would continue, but not deal any damage while the reserve tanks were filling up the energy tanks. Actually, I didn't think that, I just threw it out there as a maybe.
