I think this game is worthy of a possible speedrun, the game is actually different from the NES version. It's got music, a 2 player mode(!), and even bonus stages. Anyone want to try and take this game on?

Excitebike - boring? Sounds fun. (Though, if it's the exact same tracks, it might be pretty boring)

Hmm... I think they are the same tracks, but the FDS version feels a lot more entertaining than the NES version.

VS or FDS? They are not the same thing. The VS version does have different tracks. And I have never tried the FDS version.

FDS is called the VS version. I can get a few screenshots of it, if I'm allowed.

Here's some shots from the game. If you remember what the NES game looks like, then these are different.

So that just means the VS Excitebike game (which i knew existed in arcade VS machines) was released for Famicom Disk System too?

well, then if it's the same game, I am recommending the NES ROM over the FDS one.

We already have a run of the NES rom though, and it didn't have music or bonus stages. Just a suggestion though is all.

Phil meant the VS version, which runs on the NES emulator (not FDS). Are you sure there is a FDS version? because i couldn't find one.

VS = Unisystem = similar to an Arcade machine. Like FODA said, the ROM is only for NES not FDS.

Yes, I have a copy of the rom on my PC. I have to play it on NEStopia though, cause it won't play on FCEU. I haven't been able to get any FDS games to work on Famtasia or FCEU for that matter... I would post where I got it, but it's definately against the rules.

How about using the NES ROM?? It is in VS directory if you are using GoodNES.

Hmm... I have both roms, the NES one and the FDS. When I was a kid my folks bought me the NES version, and it's a different experience. I could post some screenshots... But everyone knows the NES version. Edit: Oh, and if any of you folks want, I can send you the file, I just don't want to break any rules.

You still don't understand. There's 2 versions on NES. The normal one and the VS.

Hmm... I found the Vs version on the NES, and it's yet another version, looks like the arcade game though. Edit: After playing it for a little bit, it is still different from the FDS version. The music is different, etc. I guess the game was a lot deeper than I thought it was from long ago.

Yeah, I saw some more playing from the NES Vs version, it does have the bonus stages. Ok, then I definately say go with the NES version. I just didn't know about it. Edit: Ah what the heck, I'll post the screenshots for all 3 versions. Classic NES Excitebike NES Vs Excitebike FDS Vs Excitebike Ignore the time posted on the Classic NES, I get an issue with Nestopia's loading so the screen showed the ramps twice and made them disappear.

Hi all-- So I think I might try to make a TAS of the Vs Excitebike (VS, not FDS). IMO it's a better game than the original, with more tracks and bonus levels. Before I start, I was wondering you can skip the first 2 tracks when you start a new game. The first 2 tracks are very similar (though not identical) to the regular NES version. So, should a run skip these tracks, or play the whole game?

I say do all of them. It's easier than explaining, and the tracks are fast and entertaining anyway.

So I guess in this version of Excitebike, the game won't let your speed exceed 04FF (where 0340 is your unassisted top speed), or about 5 pixels per frame. So it'll be a lot slower than the regular NES version, where your speeed would just keep increasing every time you go over a ramp.
