I just wanted to confirm that the jump is possible to do. I've pulled it off many times... I got the game pretty much the day it came out and it's doable in that version.

Yeah, that's what I thought, someone just needs to find the right rom now... Can you confirm my level1 sewer 2 exit glitch where it puts you on the left side of the sewer after entering and exiting, I think this was fixed in later versions as well.

I found a whole new glitch! I think it should work on any version. The glitch seems to require a open gap in the top edge (ladder will do) with at least 2 verticle blocks to the imeadiate left or right. The only places I've found where it can be used is in the caverns of stage 5. Position yourself halfway under the gap and the blocks like you would to make the jump to missiles, then hold forward sometime before your reach the top, then attack right before you reach the top, the timing is crucial. The game will wrap you to the bottom edge of the screen and then scroll it down as though you walked down a ladder. If the top edge is open on the next screen you will fall down normallly. If it's closed you be in the ceiling and you'll do the same wrap again if you don't hold left or right. If it's half way you or the correct direction to walk out or stay and your wrap. When holding left or right in a closed ceiling you won't move or wrap, you can let go or jump and you'll wrap. If there isn't a ladder below when doing the glitch the game will take to other regonizable areas or glitched out areas. Only time saver I've found would be using the best cavern, on the second screen, warp one time, saves about a second. If you could find a place to use it on in others level it could warp you to where you want to go. IE go in some random building in level 3 or 4 and warp to the end. *EDIT* Works in stage 6 as well. I found a big time saver at left side of the room with two very long hallways; you warp 3 times then have the option of coming out on the ladder at the start of the room where you can save a turtle, do so, then go up the lader right away and your halfway through the level, right after the spikes, saves over 20 seconds I think. The map layout acts very 2D unlike rockman. Also a short cut in level 6 by full pizza in it's own little room, but this only saves about 5 seconds and is on the slower route. However, when do this one it appear you'll be stuck in the ceiling below, but then the game put right down on the floor ready to move. This is the only place where I've seen this.

I could use a fraps-like program in a sec. Didn't find any places for it in stages 1-4. It might be possible to do something similar but in the middle of the screen to go through some blocks

I couldn't view the video, but thinking about Mega Man physics, does your turtle start zipping when it gets stuck in the ceiling?

This is very nice. Do we now have to try this with every single staircase in the entire game to see where they might lead? It would help if someone could simply hack into the ROM and extract the map data...

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you wanted but, here are some maps that I know of.

No, I meant how the levels are arrenged in memory, so we could predict where you would end up if you could warp through the walls. Like that amazing Zelda:ALttP map that included the entire world in one map (Or was it two? One for the light world, another for the dark world...) that included absolutely everything, including unused and hidden rooms. I missed a fact earlier. This ladder glitch isn't as all-powerful as it first seemed to me. It apparently doesn't work on most ladders, you need two vertical blocks from the top down on either side. Those sorts of ladders are quite rare in this game.

Laser soldiers die to two single suriken hits while your under half health. This would greatly speed up the long narrow hallway. *EDIT* 2 suriken at any health work.

You mean having lower health actually helps against them? IIRC, 2 scrolls also teach them a lesson. I haven't been able to see your run yet, so I don't know if you've got any available to use.

All scroll pickups are at least 20 seconds out of the way. Being under half health increases your damage for everything expect maybe not raph. I've heard it's different for different versions, such as leo doing less when under half.

I found you can get a mech knight before the 3 tight-rope parts if you enter and exit the the bulding when the level first starts. I think there's a good chance you could save time by doing this and skipping the first two rope sequences. There may be a faster way to get the mech knight but I havn't found it.

I am going to do a speedrun of this game very soon. The boss to stage 5 is sedo-randomly at the end of 1 of 3 sewer paths. It seems to be determined when you start a new game or continue. I'd like to know what I can do to give me the best chance of getting the best of the three sewers, for I'll restart if I don't get it. Can anyone help with this?

You mean the technodrome? I thought that was always in the same place... Anyway, you could try using the cheat function in FCEU to look for the address that would tell you which path the game has chosen. If you make 3 different savestates, where each savestate has one of the different paths, you should be able to compare in the "add cheat" function in FCEU and eventually get the address of where the information is stored in memory. I'd do it myself, but you'd theoretically need to play through the game up to level 5 at least 3 times just to find out where the right memory address. The debugger or memory viewer should be able to tell you if you got the right value or not when starting a new game to actually record. Does that make sense?

Hey--I've been doing a lot of "hacking" lately, refreshing my memory of 6502 assembly and stuff so I can see what the ROM is doing (it's fun lol). So maybe I could help... although I don't think I'd want to play through the game so much. If you have 2 save states where the boss in different places, could you post them and I could see what I could do? Edit I have a save state where the technodrome is in the south-west (slowest) sewer. Continuing several times didn't change its location. The current video desynchs in my FCEU, so I couldn't use that to get a save state. If anyone has a save state where the technodrome is in one of the other 2 sewers, I think I could figure it out pretty quickly.

Here's one where it's in the lower right spawn (medium speed) I could get a top right one or some WIPs if you want. http://students.washington.edu/blakep/other/Teenage%20Mutant%20Ninja%20Turtles%20(U)%20[!].fc9

0055 is the address that has the technodrome location 2=up-right (closest), 3=down-right, 4=down-left (farthest). As far as I can tell, it's invariant for the whole game the location is determined when you start a new game. I played through level 1, and did some other things, and the only spots that the game wrote to 0055 was after a continue, and after starting a new game. So, you should trying starting your game on different frames, until you get the value of 2 in 0055. Good luck with your run! If you're curious, when starting a new game, there's a 50% chance that it'll be in location 4, and a 25% chance for each of 2 and 3.

Awsome work, thank you. So how did you conclude the 50/25/25 distribution? I'm not sure how to use the cheats option to check on the address value. I can make an adress value whatever I want.
