I see the coolness in you, I see the monster in you, I see everything (from a audience point of view) that I ever wanted to see in a TAS, variation, determination, innovation and most importantly of them all, I see major FODAism! Just saw the avi clip and its amazing work you've done so far.

I just watched the .avi (which DeHackEd made, thanks to him btw) and it really is something! All those fast moves and quick/unexpected routes made it look very nice. Exellent idea in the Big Penguin Race star (in CCM) to switch the camera angle. It made some variations to the movie, plus since it hasn't ever been used in speedruns before (atleast to my knowledge), it really stunned me (in the good way of course)
Which run should I encode next? :)

hmm.. this may have been asked before, I didn't read the whole thread, but watched the VIP. you're doing 100 coins + "into the igloo", then "shell shreddin for red coins". the shell seems somewhat out of the way. wouldn't it be faster to go into the igloo, get some coins there, then get the shell, 8 red coins, rest of the 100 (the red-coin's star appears somewhere around where you should pick up coin #100), and then do "into the igloo" seperately?

I'm overwhelmed, I just watched this to my lunch and it was great. I especially liked... Well, damn now I can't remember the name of those stars, never mind. The spiral thing to the boss was hilariously great, easily one of my favorite [TAS] tricks. What is this movie aiming for though? 120 Stars in the end?

I know it wasnt optimized yet but in BB dont forget you can just longjump to the island from the top instead of using a canon. Curtis did it in a video at votigous (something like that).

Hi. I'm new to this board. I just downloaded the avi for this run (thanks dehacked) But it appears to be an Audio file and not a video file. When I try to run it, it says something about an error downloading codec. Any ideas?

Mmm, thanks. x.x Wish I wasn't so stupid. All I can say is, WOW. That Shoot Into The Wild Blue star totally caught me by surprise. That was AWESOME.

Did you finish optimizing the BOB- stars FODA? When are you going to post the next WIP?

Just watched the avi-file. Damn it was nice! :D Keep up the work. Hmm... The 100-coin thing in Bob-omb battlefield didn't look optimal though. But perhaps I'm wrong?

29 on that avi Up to 26 are optimized, the last 3 ones aren't (27th is impressive, 28 and 29 are rough testing of the 100 coin route + KTQ race). Unfortunately, i don't think that method of going up the mountain to fight bob-omb king is the fastest possible... ordinary gameplay should go faster.

I want to make a suggestion about the star sequence generally. I would like to see the stars, according to the game sequence IF this does not affect the total time. For BOB for example it would be better if you get the stars as intended, for 2 reasons: 1)It is better to see the name of the specific star you are going to take. It is like an "intro" for your "performance" in each star. 2)It looks better if you don't do the same trick twice in a row. You use the BLJ for the 1st and 6th star. Why do you get the 6th star when you first enter the level?

Well, you want to save the more impressive variations for later, right?

I want to surprise the audience... I don't know, i think it's better to have no idea what mario is doing and then "oh! nice"

I kind of agree with Filimonas, but at the same time i agree with FODA. Both have their merits, but at the same time, it would only make sense to do either of them all the way through, so no point in starting now. The only thing I wonder about is why you have to backflip into the WF painting that one time. Always makes me cringe, just a little, and it certainly doesnt make it any more interesting.

I also get bothered by the first Princess Secret Slide, but... It is nice to see the 12.3.

Well guys this is the 120 star run, its definitely fast and the movements i choose to do are optimized, but i don't want to be repetitive and predictable. I hate long repetitive movies. There is the least stars run if you want fastest possible completion.

Entertainment is more important than time. There is an obvious objective in that first slide of getting the shortest finish time and because it achieves this side objective optimally I think it is fine.

I don't really mind the choices you're making with this, although I would've chosen differently. What bothered me a lot more was grabbing onto the edge to get the star on top of Whomp's fort, but you've already fixed that nicely with the sideflip + dive. That and the underwater swimming, I could've sworn Mario can swim faster than that (and apparently he can if the WR for the secret aquarium is faster than you got).

Yeah, Foda claimed that tapping A to swim when Mario's hands are at the back of his last stroke is the key to fastest swimming, but I always thought the hyperstroke was better.

Hyperstroke? Is that pressing the swim button as fast as possible?
