If I'm recording a movie, can I pause the recording and continue with the speedrun another day? Or do I have to record it all in one marathon, with my computer and emulator on all the time?

you can resume any movie at a later time. some movies like the Sonic 3 & Knuckles took ten thousands of re-records (160 000+ in that case), obviously not in one sitting. rather 6 months... check out the faqs for the manipulation... or wait for the answer of a true player :) good luck with your runs.

I guess you could say it depends on the emulator you're using. Edit: Which is Snes9x, obviously. I are a fool. Happy reading. :)

I've read it, and unfortunately, I haven't found my answer.

When you begin "recording" movie, and make savestate in middle of "recording", it makes MOVIE savestate. With it, you can turn off snes9x or even computer, then come back to it,turn read-only off, run a movie, and load the MOVIE savestate then you can resume "recording".

Thanks, I'm gonna look if I understood it correctly. :) EDIT: ARGH! I feel really stupid. I need a video walkthrough or something.

The quick way Before you exit snes9x: 1) Make sure you're happy with what you have so far. It might be harder to come back in the middle of a job after a long period of time. 2) Save a state. Remember which slot you used. 3) Stop recording, exit, logout, etc. When you come back: 4) Play back the movie with read-only mode OFF. 5) Pause playback. 6) Load the state from step 2. 7) You are now in recording mode. Continue work. The slow way. This is for when you don't have a save-state handy. Editting/continuing from someone else's run applies. 1) Start playback with read-only mode OFF. 2) Press TURBO to seek to just before where you want to record from. Do NOT overshoot your target. If you go past the end of the move, you must restart. 3) Pause playback. 4) Press save-state. 5) Immediately load that same state. 6) You're in recording mode. Continue work.

I like your tutorial, DeHackEd. it's clear and concise. should the section Resuming recording be updated ? I can't tell if the info there is clear enough.
