no i had to manipulate him to do so
what i did was move away from him, jump (facing away)
at that point a tried every frame to begin to move in the air, eventually one of them caused him to do pattern 1
Ah, cool. I always got the impression that nothing I did affected his movements except for entering the boss room at different frames. Nice to see the manipulation is working, the biggest improvement you're going to get is probably from the boss refights.

About 27000 and 27800 or 27900.
Remember that in Mega Man 6, you have to wait 1-2 frames before jumping from a slide so thats the explanation for frame 27000. For frame 27800, if you jump one frame earlier, you would get hit.

at frame 27000, I do no such thing. If you are referring to frame 27094 where I delibrately jump one pixel higher is because my single shot reaches the 2nd enemy below. Also, in that part, the screen scrolls very bizarre when you slide near a enemy, it rolls back and forth several times.

Yamato Man stage done. Some interesting things: Using Kyrsimys route in this stage is 187 frames faster than the so called shortcut route. The first link is me using the Shortcut Route and the second link is where I use Kyrsimys Route. Kyrsimys route wins by 187 frames.

Time for a new update. This time Knight Man is completed
According to my kewl partner, I gained 79 frames on the stage and I think Adelikat gained 10 frames or so on the boss fight. One thing I really liked about this stage is when I killed those green guys. It looks so cool and fast :)

Centaur Man dead. Feel I gotta explain myself before I upload our WIP. In the first zone, you will see me slide back 3-4 frames, thats because I have to do that because otherwise I would have gotten hit from that birds fish. Doing that will delay me more, therefore, I slided backwards for a few frames.
Not switching to Knight.C in the beginning like Kyrsimys did were a winning move; gained 86 frames (if not slighty more) in the first zone.
Did many things differently, charged mega buster more, killed more enemies and prevented lag etc. This stage took me nearly 7-9 hours to complete.. Meaning, I really gave my heart completing this stage in the most efficient way. Yes, you may find some things odd in the stage but trust me, working on this stage for so many hours meant that I really tested many many things, took my time and came with the perfect version. Overall, I gained 267 frames on the stage and Adelikat gained 10 frames on the boss battle so. Oh btw, it was Adelikats idea to not switch to Knight.C in the beginning of the stage :)

Great movie so far. I guess I never considered not switching to Knight C in the beginning because it seems so suited for it (and it gets the whole weapon energy bar depleted in the end). About sliding back, couldn't you just have killed the fish? Or can't they be killed?

I tried to kill it but it seems as mega man cannot jump that high to kill it. Of course, I could have tried shooting it from the previous ledge but there is too many enemies ahead so my shots will connect to the last bird. This is by far, the proudest stage I've ever done so far :)
Edit:
Sorry, seems you can probably jump enough to kill it, but on the other hand, you have jumped so high that you'd waste many frames. Sliding back 3-4 frames is/should be a bit quicker.

And did you also try using Rush Jet in the middle of YamatoMan where you have to work your way around some conveyors and up a long ladder?

Wind Man and X 1 done. I gained aprox 250-260 frames in Wind Man and gained 108 frames on the stage while Adelikat gained 15 frames on the boss battle X 1.
Yes, I tested to use F.Blast in the beginning of X 1 stage to see if its faster rather than taking hits but using F.Blast is slower so here Is Our WIP

This technique saves between 3-4 frames per ladder. What do you guys think? Should we redo the whole game/WIP because of this discovery or continue? I dont know exactly what to say, I admit that I feel a bit reluctant to redo our whole work but I dunno.. As I said to Baxter and Adelikat that thank God I did that (Baxters trick) a few times.

The run sofar is really nice, and in my opinion it would be a waste of time redoing it. No one will notice those few frames, and a movie which would copy all your strategies and include this small trick would never be accepted...

Oh really! May I point out... the SMB2 issue? Trust me... I wouldn't say it wouldn't be if a redone video suddenly dropped 300-500 frames... it'd just be preferable if it was done by the same author(s) and with perhaps an added trick.

Phil added some (they were very small) things of his own, and gained frames on several locations thoughout the run.
I was suggesting a run with the exact same strategy, using the ladder trick throughout the entire game would never be accepted... a movie like this, would add nothing new, and the author wouldn't have put in any of his own idea's in the movie.
Since the length of this movie is over 4 times as long as SMB2, it's also a different thing if someone improved it by 36 frames... so I think it's hardly comparable to SMB2.
Of course, if someone did put in new idea's, which would save some time (I'm not going to say a number), and also included the ladder trick throughout the run, it will of course be accepted... but this wouldn't be because of the ladder trick then...
(note that although I may have formulated myself a little wrong, I have no power to judge whether a movie gets accepted or not... I am merely trying to state in this post what I would vote 'yes' to, and 'no')

What Baxter said and I can ensure you Mr. Kelly R. Flewin that due to this ladder trick we wont be loosing 300-500 frames. If that where the case then we would certainly stop right now and redo the whole thing. What I found out more about the ladder trick is that it actually saves 2 frames instead of 3-4 frames since once you perfom it, you have to walk 1-2 frames before being able to slide. Now if your aim here is to directly jump from a ladder and using the ladder trick, you will gain 1 frame. So its not a lame run as it may seem to be :) And a good thing Baxter found the trick halfway through the game so I can do it from now on, whenever there is a ladder situation.

I just watched this tonight for the first time in a while - I think you had two stages done at that point. But I didn't realize how far you were already! Good to know the new wave of Mega Man games is in good hands.
