Oh by the way, I'm not sure if you have this already but if you don't it will really help you. It's a map showing the location of absolutely everything. The whole Planet Zebes, missiles, super missiles, etc.. http://impact.megarpg.net/SMM.zip I hear it's also availible at Gamefaqs so you probably have it already. Do you?

I plotted all maps and items (and also how many available for each sector) myself on paper in the 90's so I can use them now. Also my Super Metroid Guide-book shows all the maps. But thanks for the link.

That video is simply amazing. Great work. What song is that in the video? It's been stuck in my head since I watched it.

What shocks me the most is that you can shorten the item recieved message. I would have assumed that someone would have tested it out and tried to press all the buttons to shorten it, but I guess not. Other than that change, the comparable parts before Norfair look very much like the MF run but with extra small optimizations all over the place. I'm wondering how long it'll take to store enough energy in that place that it ended to make it through to the speed booster and back, since that area constantly drains your energy. Hopefully the luck manipulation works well there.

I'm most concerned about managing to break into lower norfair. The lava pit drains something like one energy tank a second...

I thought Saturn just edited this wait out for his AVI for the purpose of cramming more into a short movie.

Ah, that would make a lot more sense. =P

Yes, thats what I did. The message screen doesn't cost any in-game time no matter how long its up anyway. Breaking into lower norfair is the most difficult thing which will require every single tank I will collect. However I tested it and 7 tanks are enough if played well. I will try it with even 6 to save some detour time for another tank. Lets see if it works in the ultimate optimized mode.

Does the 7 tanks include Reserve Tanks? How many Reserve Tanks will you have at that point anyway? 2?

No. I think I will only have one reserve tank which I got in Brinstar (right in the clip) simply because the one in Norfair would require aditional energy refilling which costs time. Basicly I will have 7 or 8 tanks in total.

Is this an All Items run for the game? Cause it's starting to sound like it, hehe. And that can easily be done in less than an hour. Downloaded the 100% run on SDA not too long ago, only took 55 Minutes. And with optimization, I think the run can be taken down to at least 45-50 Minutes. Well, that's just a general guess.

No its a Reverse Boss Order and Suitless run. The hardest possible run to pull off. My goal is to break the 1 hour barrier, it will be hard to be much faster than this only because of the entire Maridia and Mt. Doom for example.

Ahhh, I see. Well. This should be interesting to see. I've never seen anyone pull off a Suitless run. ;3[/list]

Any chance of releasing a WIP or another teaser video?

Thank you guys. The next WIP will be in about 1 month or maybe sooner since I haven't progressed that much so far. Angerfist: No. Currently I'm much more fascinated of the Reverse Boss Order (short - RBO) run mode since no one has ever recorded a movie for it (because of the nearly impossibility to beat the game in this mode). I will have to abuse heavy glitches all the way to make my way through Maridia suitless for example. Maybe I will do a pure any% after this one later.

I randomly noted yesterday that in the first room in Maridia, you can freeze the fish at the bottom and walljump on it instead of using the crab. This could save a second; I don't think I've seen it in a run. I'll be on the lookout for other, uhm, major potential speed improvements for the Maridia part. :P
