Just finished world 2 its 473 frames faster than previously Lostlevels3
yeah^^ if you decrease the speed before reaching the next springer, then accelerating to the max before falling, wouldnt it work?!^^
I think so... btw can somebody tell me how hex editing works because i forgot to press Y in beginning of level 1-1 =D

its better to re-do than hex-editing, i have never gotten my own hex-editing to work.

This looks remarkably better, great job! As far as hex-editing - this may or may not work. You'll have to redo 1-1 at the very least. Then, find a good "measurement" frame to work with...for example, the first frame after touching the flag. Then in your original run, copy everything from that frame until the end, and paste it over the corresponding frame in your redone 1-1 run - the frame after touching the flag, or whatever. Finally, you'll have to manually increase the frame count of your new movie. Specifics on hex-editing and the SMV format can be found on the Hex Editing page. If it doesn't work, then redoing would be your only option, unfortunately.

Today was my birthday, my parent got me a new keyboard (yay, go go TAS gadget). I was messing around with re-recording with Lost Level with new keyboard, had a bit fun with it. http://ventuz.homestead.com/files/ventuz_smas-LL.zip I didn't get mushroom in first level, think it could be gotten faster in world 1-3 and fire flower in 1-4. By the way, I don't think I'm planning on making more for it; I'm just displaying what I have done.

I started the run again and just finished world 2 and its 177 frames faster than version 3(mostly because flagpole trick = jumping backwards on the flagpole saves 25 frames but only 10 in level 2-3 because cant jump high enough) and 650 frames faster than version 2. Lostlevels4
it really looks improved^^ but.. where is the backjumping trick
it doesnt seems to work

Hell yeah, this is looking sweet. Just remember to kill Bowser in World 8 with fire instead of the axe if you decide to continue, which I hope you do!

I finished worlds 9 and A-D but theres still one thing to be improved... in level C-4(remake of level 7-4) i discovered shortcut(wall ceiling) which can be used at 7-4 too(saves 75 frames). Lostlevels4

I wondered why you didn't do that at the beginning of 7-4, but I just figured you couldn't jump from the top, or some other strange reason that prevented it. Also world 9 is strange..does anyone know what the (I'm guessing) Japanese letters in 9-4 read? Overall this is a quality run, and if you add that shortcut from C-4 into 7-4 then I think you should submit it. Shouldn't be a big deal, since you are so fast at doing this game.

I tried the shortcut at level 7-4 but i thought it was impossible and tried it again at level C-4 and made it first time lol. If i remerber right those letters in level 9-4 means Arigato. and in level 4-4 cant shoot bowser before i get close because bowser shoot those fire things and marios fireballs hits to them. but i tried again at level 6-4 and i got to slow down on the last jump because im not ducking(so i can shoot fireballs) and its saves 7 frames. so i start redoing this run from level 6-4.

Adebis, sounds awesome. I admire the persistence you are putting into this. Daniayaw, I tried doing the jump-backward-to-accelerate trick and couldn't get it to work at all. Have you gotten it to work?

Thanks. hehe i should read the tricks page before starting the run
Avoiding fireworks (SMB1, SMB2j) In SMB1, fireworks come when a level is completed with the last digit of the timer at 1, 3, or 6. In SMB2j, fireworks come when the last digit of your coin counter matches the last digit of the timer. Getting fireworks wastes time, so you should avoid them.
so back to level 3-3...

Adebis: 1-1 can be done at least 11 frames faster (example) with similar improvements possible in other stages, and I'm pretty sure the fireflower in 1-4 is not being picked up optimally (too much loss of speed for too long - maybe should grab it from the right side). I thought I noticed some slowdown with shooting Bowser at the end of 1-4, but I'm less sure about that. Besides that, the style is good and it's pretty well-optimized. EDIT: The differences to the time to look for are 4 frames gained at the start from backjumping, 6-7 frames gained at the mushroom from double-jumping at it (I'm not sure if the slowdown to get the mushroom was optimal so that's mainly why I say "at least" 11 frames faster), and maybe 1 frame somewhere else (flagpole?). Also, note that you can use hex editing to fix things in your run without having to redo everything after it, but depending on your experience with it, splicing improvements could end up being more difficult than just redoing it.

Adebis, you had been doing great improvement in many version in short time. I think once you study Nitsuja's replay and put another (perhap final?) replay, would be publish material. Watching bonus levels is cool to see.

Nice nitsuja! I hope i could do hex editing instead of doing whole run again just dont know how it works. I know how to do the backjump thing now but jumping again when i get mushroom seems to be hard... I think i start making next version after weekend.
