I would love to see Octodad: Dadliest Catch get TASed. I don't know if it's possible, though. Physics engines like that tend to be rough determinism/syncing. Also I couldn't even get it to start in libTAS, much less sync. Something about SDL-Dynapi? Unfortunately it seems to be a statically-linked executable, and I think those usually give libTAS a lot of trouble. But I think if it were possible, it sure would be a sight to behold...

Funny and hard game. Link to video
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

I'd love to see the SUGURI franchise TAS'd, including the games SUGURI, Sora, Acceleration of SUGURI and Acceleration of SUGURI 2. They all require Wine on Linux to run in libTAS, in lieu of official Linux releases. Sora requires enabling "Native events" in libTAS for the launcher window to work, and it requires enabling time-tracking threads in order to prevent a softlock at startup (which specific ones I don't know, but at the very least enabling all of them works). Game does not mute even with Sound > Mute checked, and the audio runs non-deterministically (BGM keeps playing at normal speed even when the game window is paused), but the game seems to run deterministically. The big problem, however, is that, while making a savestate works correctly, loading it crashes Wine. AoS2 flatout crashes Wine when trying to run in libTAS (running the game standalone works fine though). Haven't gotten around to test SUGURI or AoS1 (or its re-release Acceleration of SUGURI X-Edition), but I assume they might have similar issues.

You may want to post that on the libtas github page instead of here. This topic is just a wishlist, not bug reports.

Games I'd like to see TASed, that I've thought of so far. It's a shame there aren't more Linux ports of Windows games; libTAS seems to be compatible with a lot of recent releases. Windows:
  • The newer Shantae games - Should make for just as much entertaining action as the run of the only currently TASable game in the series.
  • Hello Neighbor - Lots of physics abuse will make for a short run, even shorter and glitchier than RTA runs.
Linux:
  • Assault Android Cactus - A twin-stick shooter with dazzling graphics, and multiple characters each with two unique weapons. Runs in Unity 5 and would make for an enjoyable and varied run. (Cactus is an assault android, that's why it's named that.)
  • Golf with Your Friends - A 3D minigolf game that, despite the name, is fastest with one player. With enough power on your shot and a slight elevation change, you can skip large parts of courses. Not sure if libTAS can run 3D games yet.
  • Guacamelee! Gold Edition - A Metroid-style game with a roughly half-hour speedrun. Could work in libTAS, as it's 2D and has low system requirements. Also has a Windows version that supports XP, if Hourglass testing is needed.
  • Mark of the Ninja - Stealth platformer. There are original and remastered versions with different system requirements, not sure how they differ in terms of run content.
  • Streets of Rage 4 - The newest game in the series just released on many platforms including Linux. Uses the FNA/MonoGame engine like TowerFall, Celeste, and Axiom Verge, so it should run in libTAS.

The Mummy Demastered Reasons why a TAS would be awesome. - Early game until speed boost has a frame perfect trick "RBJ" The Roll Boost Jump is a mechanic I found recently; when rolling on the last frame of a platform when falling, you gain a boost of speed. This is a roll boost, however if you continue to jump on the first few* frames that you are grounded, you can maintain the boost speed. This would make early game so much fun to optimize and see swift movement. After picking up sprint speed (8:xx-9:xx), the RBJ's are probably not used as frequently. - Platform jumping has a huge hitbox. You can activate a jump when you feet to mid knee is inside any platform. This allows awesome cloud steps and sick coyote jumps, I am sure you could abuse damage boosting to skip certain sections. - Phase dash - Going OOB with the phase dash allows you to skip rooms completely by activating other exit/entrance tunnel transitions. Also building up your phase dash allows you to SUPER dash. This is an amazing way to speed through the game. - "WSG" Weapon Swap Glitch allows your to cycles through weapons and continue DPS on boss fights. Could be used in the game but mostly used for boss fights to help melt their HP. - Final boss phase 2 skip - I recently practiced any% no oob after my GDQ run and found this bug by accident. If you damage princess ahmanet as she teleports during her first cycle to second cycle, you register a KO as the second phase memory loads? I have no idea what I am talking about but this allows you to save 2 minutes and is RNG and frame perfect. I have speedrun every category in the game, know about all the mechanics and would help provide any information with detailed vod's and knowledge of game play. Would be truly amazing if an experience TAS'r would help contribute their own personal time to this project. Thank you for your consideration and may the frames be with you!

And speaking of great m'vanias, there's Timespinner. Apparently there's a TAS already on youtube, too.

I'd love to see a Pizza Tower TAS at some point. the game just came out on steam, and it was made for speedrunning. any% and 100% runs would be great but IL runs would be fun to watch too

Game appears to be made in GameMaker, so it might be able to be ported over to Linux and TASed.

I'm likely going to put the Password Game into the wishlist because it was a game inside the web browser and it's recently been released.
Planned runs: Marble Madness (Arcade, Genesis J, GG/SMS) Proposed: Ecco the Dolphin (Genesis, GG/SMS, CD: regular, camera freeze) Ecco: The Tides of Time (Genesis, GG/SMS, CD; normal mode) Mario Kart DS (all cups, all missions) In progress: Grand Poo World 3 (all exits hard mode)

This post about games that I'm willing to let someone TAS the following games listed here might get frequently edited to update info for existing games or/and add new ones. Yoshi vs. Windows Fan game. Control Yoshi through various PC-themed levels in a quest to stop Bill Gates from ruling the world. 15 levels, 2 boss fights. Video preview of this game here. This fan game has a SRC leaderboards here. Yoshi vs. Windows: Platinum Edition Fan game. A remake of an older and lesser version of "Yoshi vs Windows", which now features more levels (3 additional levels) and improved graphics and gameplay. Video preview of this game here. Wario vs. Microsoft Windows Fan game. Features 8 levels, 4 boss fights, Lazy and "Classic" modes. Speedrunners usually go for easiest difficulty mode (Lazy), video preview shows that I speedrunned the game on "Classic" mode to showcase the quality of how bypassable that is here. Super Mario Bros. Super Quest Probably one of the worst Super Mario fan games ever made, it's so bad that it doesn't have a proper ending screen (after completing a bonus level) to say that this is the end of a demo version, so, thankfully that this is a demo version. Features 2 playable characters, 2 levels and a bonus level. Video preview of this game here. Mario Toad Hunt (Demo) Fan game. One day, Mario ran out of mushrooms, so he went to eat the Toads instead. Eat all the Toads in each level to help him! Features 2 levels. Video preview of this game here. This game is likely technically TASable with Hourglass (no mouse input required), if not for a game loading window that potentially prevents it from being TASed. Looks like it's made in GameMaker. Wario Land 5 (Demo) Fan game. Features a tutorial level, 2 levels and a boss fight. Video preview of this game here. This game is likely technically TASable with Hourglass (no mouse input required), if not only for a game loading window that potentially prevents it from being TASed, but the game also changes resolution on-the-fly in between levels/screens, I've seen a publication movie of a completely different game that uses a nightmare combination of an emulator+Hourglass, which can potentially look incorrect in the encode if it changes display resolution from showing an operating system to a game. Looks like this fan game is made in GameMaker. Desert Dares! A Super Mario fan game, featuring a series of 5 (desert-themed) challenging levels, completing each level unlocks access for a more difficult version of the one. 10 levels in total. Video preview of this game (at around 7:42 - 10:18) here. Super Mario Sketch Fan game. Features original artwork graphics, 8 levels. Video preview of this game here. This game is likely technically TASable with Hourglass (no mouse input required). Super Mario: Peach Is Missing Fan game. Features original artwork graphics with colors, 9 levels. Video preview of this game here. This game is likely technically TASable with Hourglass (no mouse input required). Hotel Mario SNES Edition A fan game (not a romhack) based on a CD-i game. 8 levels. Video preview of this game here. This game is likely technically TASable with Hourglass (no mouse input required), if not for a game loading window that potentially prevents it from being TASed. Looks like it's made in GameMaker. Yoshi Gone MFGG One of the oldest existing Mario fan games ever made. A Yoshi game featuring appearances of various Mario Fan Games Galaxy forum members and some of their custom sprites. Unstable game (made with The Games Factory), featuring 3 stages and 6 boss fights. Thankfully that this is a demo version. Video preview of this game here. This game is likely technically TASable with Hourglass (no mouse input required). The mario land A Super Mario fan game, with 4 short levels included. Video preview of this game here. Nintendo vs. Everyone Else Fan game. This is not like a Super Smash Bros., but it features 10 playable characters (split into 3 categories) and your chosen character has to go through 8 lands, each has it's own genre. Video preview of this game here. Normal Super Mario Bros. trilogy? Fan games. 3rd game features collectibles if you wanted to go for 100%. These 3 fan games has it's own SRC leaderboards. There is a submission for the first game, but got rejected for apparently not only a technically-not-an-emulator issue for not properly encoding an audio, but also for a bad game choice back then, along with input optimization. Super Mario 64: Really Good Edition Another fan game with memes. 2D, single course, 7 stars to collect. Video preview of this game here. This game has a SRC leaderboards here. This game is likely technically TASable with Hourglass (no mouse input required). Mario Floating Isles One of the early attempts at making own 3D Super Mario fan game. Features 10 unique levels and 10 unique stars to collect. Video preview of this game here. This is the game that doesn't work for me on my old ASUS Windows 7 laptop (not even with compatibility mode settings), it runs the game in the background, doesn't do anything, doesn't show up, and it always goes at like 50% or 30% CPU resource usage or something. Update: I decided to use Oracle VM VirtualBox with Windows XP (32-bit) operating system after some configurations and installations, and now that game works. Mario in Kirby Land A fan game about Mario platforming through levels from Kirby's Adventure. Video preview of this game (at around 18:55 - 22:05) here. Super Mario's Moonwalker A crossover fan game with Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. This game has difficulty modes, the higher difficulty level - more difficult and more content in the levels, featuring Dance-Dance-Revolution-like minigame (only appears on certain difficulty modes). Video preview of this game (at around 25:40 - 29:52) here. Mario Remix: Boss Edition A crossover-themed Super Mario fan game, this time features various boss fights that Mario can fight against from other video games (not just from Super Mario series). 35 bosses in total to fight. Video preview of this game (at around 31:01 - 38:30) here. Infinite Mario Bros A Super Mario fan game, features randomly generated world maps and levels. Despite the title name of the game, it follows the same World 1-to-8 rule and it has an ending screen after completing a castle level in World 8. This game was made by Markus "Notch" Persson, he's later known for creating Minecraft and became the best selling video game ever made (as of writing this). I've recently seen some published movies of a game made in RPG Maker, so how about other games that are made with the same engine such as: Super Mario PC Challenge 6 A Super Mario fan game achieved with RPG Maker game engine that tries to behave like a platformer game. Video preview of this game (at around 25:07 - 28:17) here. Super Mario PC Challenge 7 7th game in this fan game series with gameplay improvements, but plays roughly the same. Video preview of this game (at around 27:35 - 32:20) here. Super Mario PC Fun 2 Another fan game made by the same developer who made Super Mario PC Challenge series. It's a collection of mini-games containing not only platforming, but also racing, trivia and more. Of course it's also made in RPG Maker. Video preview of this game (at around 32:48 - 35:43) here. I've seen some published movies of Action 52 recently and I'm thinking "why not also TAS PC games that's bundled in a single physical CD that was actually available to purchase in stores?", here are the lists: Kyle and Tyler's Reindeer Mazes I've seen some published TAS movies of maze games, why not this one? A Christmas-themed maze game (featuring semi-randomized maze generation paths) included within a Cosmi Software's 300 Arcade Games CD bundle. Your task is to help Santa's Reindeer get ready for Christmas by moving them through 9 different mazes. It has a programing flaw that the developer(s) had to implement a warning text during gameplay in an attempt to make players obey the rules and go for the intended way of playing it, instead of fixing the root cause of the problem for pressing two keys at the same time (going diagonally goes 2 moved spaces at the same time for 1 frame, pushes back only 1 movement space for colliding a wall). Video preview of this game here. Death Assult Yes, that's how this game is called (no letter A in between S and U). A platformer and shooter game (with 4 levels) included within a Cosmi Software's 300 Arcade Games CD bundle. Features boss enemies from Mega Man series. Video preview of this game here. Fire Guy A game with original artwork graphics (9 stages, until you advance it to a bonus stage), but not for music and sound effects. Included within a Cosmi Software's 300 Arcade Games CD bundle. Video preview of this game here. Penut Hunt Another game with that name (not Peanut Hunt). I've seen the fastest TAS movie publication of a fastest Pac-Man clone game, how about the worst one: A fake Pac-Man clone about a hungry elephant hunting for penuts and avoiding taking too much damage from moving obstacles in 3 different levels. Included within a Cosmi Software's 300 Arcade Games CD bundle. Video preview of this entire game (at around 40:20 - 42:48) here. This game is likely technically TASable with Hourglass (assuming no mouse input required). Rush Hour Traffic Frogger clone game, included within a Cosmi Software's 300 Arcade Games CD bundle. Your task is navigate that pedestrian by the name of Mark Patterson his way home after finding out his car went missing after work, and cross the busy streets of New York in rush hour traffic (with 3 short levels). Video preview of this game here. Buggie: Above the Law This tough game mostly features MIDIfied known (copyrighted) songs, included within a Cosmi Software's 300 Arcade Games CD bundle. Your task is to help Buggie who is running away from the Mafia, to start a journey featuring 9 levels to traverse from Pennsylvania, North Philadelphia to Las Vegas, Nevada, with 3 different endings to chose. Video preview of this game here. Bummer! Household Attack A short-but-difficult game included within a Cosmi Software's 300 Arcade Games CD bundle. Your task is to defeat household appliances going awry with 5 levels in total. Video preview of this game here. I would like to try to complete one of these games bundled from the CD (just to check it out), but the main installer launcher app itself and individual installers for each game (such as Penut Hunt) is too old and doesn't work on my old ASUS Windows 7 laptop (not even with compatibility mode settings down to Windows 95), only very few games works on my laptop PC (such as Buggie: Above the Law). This is why it's done via Windows XP virtual machine in his livestream videos. Update: I finally decided to use Oracle VM VirtualBox (specifically in [Version 6.0.24 r139119 (Qt5.6.2)]) and able to get most of the games work after some configurations and installations. Gundam 0079: The War For Earth I decided to add a bonus in this list, because I've seen published TAS movies of some FMV games. Why not this one next? The first Mobile Suit Gundam video game in the franchise that's officially targeted towards English-speaking American gamers, and it's terrible. This game is also available for PSX and Apple Pippin. In terms of visual picture image quality, PC (Windows) version is probably the best, but complex to set up and make a TAS movie than doing it same on PSX. I don't know if Vinny actually played this game on livestream or not. Rerez made a video about this whole game here.

Freddi Fish and Luther's Maze Madness This is the one Windows game I would love to see TASed that wouldn't be impossibly difficult to make with current TASing tools. The game can be run through ScummVM, making it possible to be TASed through the Linux platform. I've even already did a speedrun of it as well. This run does not use the game's built-in cheats called "Junior Helpers" which give unlimited bubbles and/or unlimited lives and, while they aren't hidden features, I think a TAS that doesn't use them would be far more impressive. Check out the video and description for more info if interested. Update: with Windows 95 and XP games now being accepted on the site, there are now multiple ways to TAS the game! It is available on both CD-ROM and Steam.

TMNT Shredder's Revenge My current favorite game right now. Would love to see this game in TAS conditions!!! The current WR is held by my protege/friend/rival which currently beats my time by over 2 minutes and both of us said we would legit pay to see a TAS of this game. If anyone wants to take on that task I would help explain all the current techniques and strategies used so far.

  1. Fight'N Rage My favorite beat em up besides Streets of Rage 2. Does not look like there is a Linux port atm. There is a Switch version but that does not have tas tools atm. 3 player co-op. Special moves and combos. https://www.speedrun.com/fightnrage?h=Ricardo_Arcade-Normal-Normal_Speed-PC&x=w20we65d-j84k15wn.p125pxk1-p8590r3n.jqz69xm1-ylp6q7vn.0q5wedmq
  2. Astebreed : Definitive Edition One of my favorite shooters. A anime style mech shooter that alternates between left to right, from behind, and down to up. Does not have a Linux port atm. Also has a Switch version. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1051823006?t=0h0m1s&tt_content=twitch_logo&tt_medium=embed
  3. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Excellent Castlevania type game. Does not seem to have a Linux port as well. On android and switch too. https://www.speedrun.com/bsrotn
  4. Blaster Master Zero 3 (2021) An new version with similar gameplay to the original series. Has the tank mode as well as the human walking around. Some really good boss fights. Like the others works on Proton but no Linux port, also on 3DS and Switch. https://www.speedrun.com/bmz3
  5. Valfaris One of my favorite platformers. Great "heavy metal" aesthetic too with heavy metal guitar tracks. Again no linux port afaik, but also on Switch and...Amazon Luna? https://www.speedrun.com/valfaris
  6. Valfaris Mecha Therion Another mech shooter in that same "heavy metal" aesthetic. However it mixes shooter elements with unlocking weapons, sub weapons, alongside upgrades. too with heavy metal guitar tracks. Unknown linux status, but also on switch. https://www.speedrun.com/Valfaris_Mecha_Therion
  7. Cuphead Awesome but difficult boss battle only run and gun game in an early 1900s cartoon style. Unknown linux port status. Also on macOs and switch. https://www.speedrun.com/cuphead

Broforce would be a good one too. It has those random character selections and some are way better than others for certain levels.

  1. Eldest Souls Arena boss fight game with a pretty complex powerup and abilities that work well together. Very well controlled movement and responsiveness. The hurdle that prevented the game from becoming more popular was its overall demanding difficulty. Liked it enough to do a speedrun of this game a while back as well. Unfortunately this game will not be ported to Linux. But throwing this one the pile in case some new technology comes along to tas it. https://www.speedrun.com/eldest_souls/runs/y4xjxo3z
  2. Steel Assault Platformer with a unique rail type ability that allows interesting movement and attacks. Plays well and apparently works on Linux according to devs. Although that may be through that Steam thing, and not an actual port. https://www.speedrun.com/steel_assault/runs/y27r676z
  3. Carrion Unusual Metroidvania that is kind of like katamari damacy and a stealth takedown game. As the "carrion" you gather up biomass from defeated foes while trying to escape the facility. Seems like speedrunners have found some skips and glitches over the years to bring the time down to around 17 minutes. Unknown linux port situation. https://www.speedrun.com/carrion/runs/y98p32vz
  4. Furi Another Arena boss battle game, but this time a well known and popular one. Fast paced with a great soundtrack, cool cyberpunky artwork, and that plays well. 2016 release game and not seeing a Linux port. https://www.speedrun.com/furi/runs/yll37qxy
  5. Strider [2014] Excellent remake of the original strider with more modern mechanics that make use of modern controller and gameplay features. Easy game to recommend and would make a fun tas to watch imo. https://www.speedrun.com/strider2014/runs/kz54qv5m
  6. Shinobi Non Grata Basically a love letter to games like Ninja Spirit and boss rush games like Alien Soldier, this is one my recent favorites. https://www.speedrun.com/shinobi_non_grata/runs/z5k8g7dz

With the acceptance of Windows XP and now Windows 95 games through PCem + libTAS, it's time I submitted my comprehensive wishlist for Windows PC games! Each one of these games I've had at some point as a kid, and each has a special place in my heart in one way or another. I will not be TASing any of these games myself because setting up the environment for Windows emulation is too technical and way over my head. All hyperlinks lead to either the speedrun.com page or the world record run for routing and other references. 1. Jurassic Park III: Dino Defender This is the Windows game I'd like to see get TASed the most. Not only would this game be an easy TASing effort, but optimized routing has already done—I have speedrun this game heavily, have put up a very optimized record for it, and even played it at AGDQ2020. 2. Ballance A 3D marble rolling game similar to Marbleblast except the ball cannot jump. It is heavily physics-based and has some pretty wild hyperspeed glitches that would make for an extremely entertaining run. I have no doubt a TAS would be able to find and showcase new strategies as well with the superhuman element at play. I should say it would require a high TASing effort, though, as optimizations for taking the tightest lines, cutting corners, and speed management will be required everywhere. 3. Star Wars: Empire at War My favorite RTS of all-time, available on CD-ROM or Steam. The three campaigns are already well-routed, showcasing many skips that a TAS would use and possibly find more of. I would also love to see a TAS of this absolutely dunk on the enemy forces in every battle, and have perfect resource management on the galactic map. This would require a High TASing effort, as optimal directing of your forces in battle will likely require lots of micro-management to make sure they take the fastest lines and attack as efficiently as possible. 4. Reader Rabbit: 2nd Grade A simple children's platforming game which is already well-routed with a solid speedrun record. This makes for an easy TASing effort. 5. The Fairly Oddparents: Shadow Showdown This one is just a collection of simple minigames and also already has a well-routed and solid speedrun record—another easy TASing effort. 6. Rocket Power: Extreme Arcade Games The goal would be to beat all four games to reach the credits screen. Hockey Shot, Rocket Pogo, and Roller Rocketball are all simplistic games, but Sandcastle Slam will be a bit more involved. So I would give this one a medium TASing effort overall. 7. Timon & Pumbaa's Jungle Games The goal would be to play each minigame till the last levels which features new content, all of which are laid out in the category rules on the speedrun.com page. Medium TASing effort. 8. Treasure Cove! This would be an easy TASing effort due to it being a children's game but is also very long. The end goal would be to rebuild the rainbow bridge but requires many, many playthroughs to do so. 9. Ratatouille This is a 3D platformer so expect a high TASing effort. Thankfully, this one has a very dedicated speedrun community so much help and resources will be available. 10. Nanosaur 2: Hatchling It's kind of like a 3D flight simulator except you're a pterodactyl completing the objectives! Medium TAS effort. The following 3 games have no speedrun resources available on the internet but I have compiled some speedrun and routing notes on each of these privately. If you are interested in giving any of these 3 games a go, send me a PM and I can pass on the resources I have for them! Matchbox Caterpillar: Adventures in Time Jack's Attic Cyberchase: Castleblanca Quest And here's a list of all the point-and-click or typing games I have some nostalgia for, all of which should be very easy TASing efforts due to their simplicity. If you also feel nostalgic for any one of these, I encourage you to give it a go! 3-D Dinosaur Adventure 3D Undersea Adventure 3D Human Body Adventure Arthur's Thinking Games Aviation Adventure Barrow Hill: Curse of the Ancient Circle Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds Gregory and the Hot Air Balloon Highlights: Hidden Pictures Workshop I Spy: Spooky Mansion Jumpstart Adventures 3rd Grade: Mystery Mountain Math Workshop Pajama Sam 3: You Are What You Eat From Your Head to Your Feet Reader Rabbit Math: Ages 4-6 Reader Rabbit: Preschool Roller Typing Scooby-Doo: Jinx at the Sphinx Scooby-Doo: Phantom of the Knight Scooby-Doo: Showdown in Ghost Town Scratches Shape Shifter Spongebob Squarepants: Lights, Camera, Pants! The Adventures of Ricky Raccoon: Lost in the Woods The Magic School Bus Explores the Solar System Toy Story Activity Center Toy Story Animated Storybook Winnie the Pooh: Kindergarten
