Now Gods is finished with Nesvideos quality. Compared to the old (published) movie, this version is 14817 frames faster.
Improvements
  • Starting the game 1 frame earlier
  • Jumping (instead of walking) to the shop spheres
  • Taking damage differently to die faster
  • Collecting gems differently to get faster bonus countdown
  • Shooting some enemies differently
  • Beating bosses faster
  • Falling unrealistically to some ledges (To manipulate the falling mechanics, I needed to wait a few frames beforehand.)
  • Using bomb-trick to skip the second half of the game
Basic movie details
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Uses death to save time
  • Abuses programming errors
More movie details
  • Hercules wannabe got killed 9 times
  • One bomb-jump was performed
  • Spears turn around in the air (happened twice)
  • Quick eyes can spot graphical anomalies here and there
  • It's still a mystery why one monster does not appear at the end of world 1-2
I tried optimizing everything, frame by frame. This is my final attempt at this game, unless someone finds new b-bu-bu-bugs.

After the dragon boss, why didn't you get closer to the store guy, giving him a shorter distance to walk? Also, the sequence around 3:50 looked ugly. Wouldn't it have been faster to jump directly onto the platform below the switch instead of jumping onto the lower platform first? Other than that (and the fact that I have no idea why you got half the items you did), it looked nice. Please address these issues, and I'll feel good about giving this a yes.

1) You can't move after you touch the shop sphere (unless you have started a jump). I tested jumping over the sphere to the left and then back to the right to make the distance shorter, but that was slower. 2) I don't jump, I fall. The horizontal movement is limited while falling. It's not possible to reach the higher platform without jumping. You could jump there, but that's slower. Thanks for asking. Hopefully my answers were good enough. Feel free to ask more. :)

Hmmm. After watching the part around 3:50 several times, I don't understand a couple things: 1) How is falling, then jumping up to the platform faster than jumping onto the platform in the first place? You have to jump once during either route, so it doesn't make sense that having to jump is an issue. 2) Why bother going down at all? Can't you just jump and grab onto the ladders like you do to get out of the pit?

Your ideas are good, but unfortunately the game does not agree with you. 1) There is a falling damage in Gods. Check out the moment when the invulnerability (circling stars) wears off... 2) It's not possible to grab the ladders from there. :(

Oh my Gods! You gave up too early! I can do that jumping/falling part 6 frames faster! IdeaMagnate, thank you! :) I can probably correct that mistake easily with a hex-editor. I'll cancel this submission.
