In this TAS, the game is played on Normal difficulty and without the use of zips. This means the route is quite different in some stages. The most notable example is Pinball Zone, where the last 2 major rooms in the escape are played out instead of completely skipping them. The motivation behind this TAS is to compare to the main RTA speedrun category. There were actually quite a few strats found during the creation that have already been implemented, such as in Big Board, Pinball Zone, 40 Below, and Golden Passage.
In terms of optimization, it's mostly the same as the baseline normal TAS with some very slight improvements here and there. The most likely stage for improvement in the future is Pinball Zone due to how open-ended a lot of the movement is; it takes a lot of effort to optimize throwing objects and when that's extended to an entire stage with lots of platforms it only makes it more difficult.

nymx: There are some complicated things, needing to be discussed. Not because this isn't optimized, but because of the classification and lack of enthusiasm for placing this into "Alternative". I've been discussing with the judges and I'm dropping this so that I can see what a more senior level judge has to say about this submission.

feos: Claiming for judging.
feos: The run got good feedback, and I watched it side-by-side with [5096] GBA Wario Land 4 "Normal" by Reseren in 35:51.82 to determine how different it is. Without knowing the game, given its insane pace, it was really hard to tell what just happened and why everything is different now, and it took a rewatch each time to see how the published run clipped though something and is now in the next room, while this submission has to use a route closer to intended. Not all clips/zips save huge amount of time, because levels are relatively small, but there's a lot of them, so overall the 5 minute difference is explainable.
Even if the difference between this and the run with zips may not be giant overall, it still makes sense to start by accepting things to standard and Alternative, and only then when we see overlap - to obsolete things as needed. Also it doesn't even have to be insanely entertaining, because we want to encourage people to make more of entertainment-based content like playarounds, and the only way to incentivize it is by lowering the requirements so people feel safe while experimenting.
So while this branch may be obsoleted in the future by a fully glitchless run, it's still worth having it in Alt until then (if that even happens). Accepting.

I'm on a tough spot here, i think it should be published but i already know staff disagrees with my reasoning and fear it might stop its acceptance. The Speedrunnning community considers this set of rules enforcing zips to not be allowed a relevant category, therefore IMO we should publish, regardless of personal opinion about the run in order to mimic the community's interest and categorization in these type of runs. I'm not Wario land 4 player and i don't enjoy platformers nowadays very much so i shouldn't comment on entertainment, i hope my comment doesn't stop this from being published because it's the exact opposite of what i believe should be the site's main objective. It would be unfair for me to stop something that the player's community clearly values from being published here on the site. If possible, one day a Wario land 4 player will enter this site and have its relevant categories published on Standard. https://www.speedrun.com/pt-BR/wl4 for reference that this category exists, it has a bunch of players so it clearly has interest for this category division.
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

Deciding how to vote wasn't hard - I always enjoy watching TASes of Wario Land 4, and this one was no exception. That said, I do feel like I might have enjoyed this a bit less than the other current publications. While it definitely shows off some routes that aren't in the others, the lack of zips did make everything feel a bit more same-y across the run, so it feels like it loses variety in the process of gaining some. That said, 3 out of the 4 published branches are just different difficulty options, whereas this aims to do something much more substantially different, which I like.

I've been thinking on this, over the past few days, and I'm coming close to a strategy on how I want to finalize my judgement. I may be processing other submissions, but I'm not ignoring this one. Just wanted you to know and the fact that I plan on finishing this submission in the next few days.
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game? Would this not be standard per the classification page? - "Glitchless: Completing the game as fast as possible while avoiding all known glitches (defined per game in accordance with the community). " *On 2nd thought, there is the wall boost in the beginning of Domino Row and the boost onto the ledge by Keyzer from the water in Mystic Lake, so it likely isn't truly glitchless.

This is one of my all-time favourite games and a "zipless" run is the joy I didn't know was missing from my life. I was so eager to see the Sapphire Passage that I skipped to it, so I still have some Topaz levels yet to enjoy. Thankyou so much for this run. Watching Pinball Zone was so enjoyable. Nipping to the side to get the diamond while waiting for the countdown-door made me laugh.
