FCEUX should include a button in debugger that toggles if yes or not we can see illegal opcodes instead of "UNDEFINED" message, which could be useful for testing purposes.
So, if in SMB3 warp glitch i accidently execute a KIL instruction, but i don't see it, it will be complicated...

You can't. You need to do it outside of TAS Editor.
edit: The only way to do it from TAS Editor is opening a movie file with the FDS disk commands present. Select the line, copy and paste it to your desired location.
Method 1 - From FCEUX:
- open FCEUX
- open ROM
- open movie file
- record your movie file
- NES > Eject/Insert disk
- NES > Switch disk side
- stop recording your movie file
- You can now launch TAS Editor
Method 2 - With a text editor:
- open your movie file in a text editor
- make sure the movie header has FDS set to true (not sure what is the correct line)
- notice the commands part of the lines where you want to add FDS disk commands
- input log format: |commands|port0|port1|port2|
- 4 = FDS Disk Insert
- 8 = FDS Disk Select
- save and close your movie file
- You can now launch TAS Editor

when i open tas editor in fceux and i try to insert inputs, it doesnt process them.
version 2.6.4
ticked features:
- auto restore last position
- recording
- superimpose
does anyone know how to fix this problem? some help would be appreciated.

Yeah, there's your problem. Turn off Recording, it's meant for live keyboard/controller input.

i want to make a tas of vs super mario bros on fceux. when i start a new project, the "Insert Coin" button can't be clicked. i've tried several button combinations, and none of them have worked. does anyone know how to do this? any help would be appreciated.
FCEUX's TAS Editor doesn't appear to have columns where you can insert coins or do resets. However, you can do it through the traditional way of frame advance and save states outside of TAS Editor, save the movie as an FM2, then import that FM2 into TAS Editor if you want to.

To note, 2/4 GB is the strict filesize limit for AVI files, meaning splitting is required to produce working videos.

BizHawk and FCEUX have supported the VS System for a long time. The Insert Coin function just isn't present in FCEUX's TAS Editor.

If you're looking to do this for TAS purposes, then this is already possible in a custom fork of BizHawk, see #8197: OnehundredthCoin's NES Super Mario Bros. "Stop 'n' Swop arbitrary code execution" in 01:16.97. The problem is, even with a far more accurate emulator than FCEUX such as NESHawk, cartridge swapping is still HIGHLY hardware and setup dependent and can very easily fail to verify if you get anything wrong in your recording. Even with all that said, such a submission is still HIGHLY unlikely to be accepted even today, because the cartridge swapping functionality has not been incorporated into mainline BizHawk as far as I'm aware, and the logistics of cartridge-swapping mid-run during hypothetical console verification has still not at all been worked out.
I am having an issue with compiling FCEUX on msys2 with cmake. it says, -- Building for: Ninja. I know what Ninja/Meson is, but I don't know what to do compile at this point as the README hasn't been updated.
If I run make nothing happens!
There are batch/shell scripts in /pipelines for building. Msys2 won't recognise the msbuild command so you have to either change it to msbuild.exe or make an alias. Or just use Visual Studio.
