The 999999 run has already been done on the NES here: Tetris run by Acmlm I guess it could be possible to do it faster on the GB, but I really don't know.

Ah yes, good ol' Tetris for GB. Actually, I never had Tetris for NES, I only had the GB version, so that's the Tetris that I grew up with. But I don't recall any big differences between the GB and the NES version. If there are no differences (anyone knows any?), I see no point in doing a run for the same game, but in black and white. But I'd still watch it for sure! :)

OK, here are my honest opinions about this video: Why does the music change when you get 999999 points? Plus, your description perplexes me. You write you didn't make it in one shot. Does that mean you got a game over? Finally, playing Tetris until you reach 9999 lines doesn't sound like an interesting concept for me. It would look boring.

Honestly, i don't know why the music changes. When i write that i did not make it in one shot, i mean that i used snaphot. I can understand that you are not interesting in doing 9999 lines in tetris...

So you used a snapshot, aka savestate in emulator jargon. I think I know now why the music changes. You either had a game over or the savestate you used changed the background music.

Savestates don't work like that. Maybe the game just changes music after one got the maximum score. It seems like the programmers of this game anticipated very high lines/score anyway, as none of the strange phenomena that are on the NES version occur that happen when the game is played for a really long time.

Baxter, I'm afraid to say that the music doesn't change after getting 999999 points. One fine example is this video where indeed 999999 points are gotten, but the music doesn't change at all. Plus, this was played on a Super Game Boy, not on an emulator.

Hmm, looking at it, it's also not at the point of getting the maximum score. Either way, it's not possible that a savestate changed the music.

This run looks boring, and I bet not a whole lot of Luck manipulation was used. I bet if you pulled off greater combos at once, it would probably be more interesting.

There are 2 versions of this game. 1.0 and 1.1 have differences. Music A is different in 1.0 than 1.1 (1.0 has Minuet, 1.1 has Korobeiniki) Level up system is different. 1.0 If level < 9 then level up every 10 lines If level ≥ 9 then level up every 20 lines (e.g. starting level 6: 10 lines, 20, 30, 50, 70, ...) 1.1 First level up at ((starting level x 10) + 10) lines (e.g. (3 x 10) + 10 = 40) Level up every 10 lines starting with second (e.g. starting level 3: 30 lines, 40, 50, 60, ...) The level caps off at 20. There is a block rotation glitch on 1.0. 1.0 saves you 4 Tetrises from 1.1 in the terms of getting the maximum score.

If you're encoding a TAS of Tetris that uses pausing, use Game Genie codes that keeps stuff shown while paused for a separate encode.
Game Genie codes:
CEC-30E-C45	Keep Stack Displayed While Paused
Address 1C30	Value CE	Domain ROM
D9C-53E-D5D	Keep Current & Next Pieces Displayed While Paused
Address 1C53	Value D9	Domain ROM
If using both codes and there's no desync, then it's perfect. If both codes cause the movie to desync, encode with the former code, and encode with the latter. If the latter code causes the movie to desync, then you're fine. If the former code causes the movie to desync, then you're screwed. If using either code separately (not both together) and there's no desync, then both encodes have to be put together for a 3D encode. To encode in 3D: Use the former code and hide the sprites for encode 1 Use the latter code and hide the background for encode 2 The 2 encodes have to be combined to make a 3D encode which can easily be done on YouTube.

The Block Duplication Glitch can happen while lines are being cleared. I done the glitch when I was younger. I even used a GameShark. Doing the Block Duplication Glitch with a Tetris is impossible on levels 18, 19, and 20. I did the glitch on NO$GMB using slowdown. I was using an old 486 machine running Windows 95. I created a hack called Hardcore Tetris, which takes the concept and makes it harder. Even harder than Tetris: The Grand Master.
