  • Used Gens Movie Version 9c
  • Plays on "Insane" difficulty
  • Takes damage to save time
Vectorman is an action platformer in which you have to defeat Warhead and his robotic troops to save the world.
The gameplay allows for some nice stuff. You can use your jetshoes to jump a 2nd time in the air. The power of the jets also damages enemies. There's items in the game with which you can turn Vectorman into specific things; a car, a rocket, a fast swimmer, a helicopter, some kind of flying thing, and a driller.
You may notice there's 2 shots that look like they are missed shots. One in the 3rd level and one in the 6th level. They are not really missed, they were necessary to drop the enemies.
I'm proud this is done, I had to fight with some serious desync problems against some bosses. I had to do the 6th and last boss several times before it finally worked right.
Enjoy!

Truncated: As I wrote in the discussion thread, there are too many odd things that stand out for me to accept this submission, but I would very much like to see a new more polished version.

F... thats France right? (for the ROM used). is there any reason you went with that? i've never played Vectorman, but it just caught my eye on the submission page.

I liked this but I have a few questions before I'm going to vote. In day 3, there is one jump where you use the double jump really early (sorry I wasn't counting frames) and you just barely miss the platform. Could you have timed the double jump later so you could hit the platform? I think you missed a shot fighting the boss in stage 9, but that might just be me. The boss fights were really fast, you did a nice job with them. In day 12 you jump down the shafts in the later areas of the stage (to increase fall speed), but you don't do this earlier in the stage. Any reason why? It seems like you ended the movie awfully late. Why didn't you end it before the victory music? Once you answer these questions, I'll vote yes.

I'm not sure where exactly you mean. I think the route was good.

Ohh, I think you are right. There's one shot that passes the enemy, I'm not sure if that shot counted as a hit. I don't feel like redoing anything or hexediting because of that one shot :/

I only do that at times where I need to do a jetjump to defeat an enemy that is right at an edge. Hm maybe I could really have saved off a few frames with better usage of the acceleration

You can press start at the end of a level to skip the scene where it calculates bonus points and stuff, I did that and then ended movie.

I wasn't able to find another rom than that, all romsites I looked only had that thing. Zurreco tried it with a W (JUE, World) rom and it played fine without desync. Gens autodetects the thing as a NTSC rom. So maybe the F rom is just labeled false everywhere...

This run is very fast and entertaining. It's a wonder why this hasn't been decided upon yet. The game seems to be very popular, though I haven't really played it (too hard). This movie is a prime candidate for publishing IMO. Any objections?

Well. I watched it (or if it was an earlier WIP of it, I don't remember) and I wasn't that fascinated for some reason. It's been a while, so maybe I should check again before I say anything.

I liked this run. Vectorman was one of the coolest Genesis games I owned, and I think this deserves consideration for publication :D

Oh, I have forgotten to vote again! I've watched this movie a long time ago. It doesn't look bad. Y-vote.

On an interesting note, this run was actually submitted before Sprint's Sonic 3 and Knuckles run. Sure, that run was extraordinary, but surely this run deserves consideration almost a year on? Oh, definite yes vote.

What I always loved about this game is that it utilizes Genesis's rather poor graphic subsystem to the max, providing stunning effects, beautiful pseudo-3D backgrounds and great color transitions/reflections on par with the best SNES games (and sometimes even better). I would be very glad if this run is accepted. I give a yes vote cause the run is very well executed, though I happen to see some doubtful moves alongside the game, especially in the first 1/3 of it, but I'm too sleepy right now to carefully search through the whole movie so let it be.

I found this run entertaining, and this is a cool game! I voted yes (though I would have no idea if this run is improvable or not)
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

Things I noticed: * It doesn't look like you hit the 2:nd boss as often as you could * The double jump to skip going into the water in the 3:rd stage that mikwuyma commented on, I saw it too. * The weird boss (no 3) that opens up and spews objects all alround didn't look like it was being hurt as soon as possible all the time. * At the end of day 10 it looked like you could have jumped sooner to up the platforms if you had only made sure you were on the ground at the time. * On level 12 and 13 you could have cut corners a lot better vertically. Because of this (and I'm guessing there's more), I'm a bit hesitant to accept this movie. It's not bad, but it could probably be better. Should we accept this as is or wait for a better version? I'm leaning towards wait for a better version currently but it's not impossible to convince me otherwise. At least Zer0 is still around to make it.

No one has objected, so I'm processing this now.
