my movies work, flawlessly except for one problem... they're nothing like a time attack at all, they're nothing but mindless pressing of random buttons that make close to no sense. i believe there to be an explaination for this, my key configuration doesn't match that of the person who recorded that. i'd like to know how to retrieve the button config. of the author who recorded the movie so the videos aren't just, mindless button mashing garbage. Any way to do this?

The key config shouldn't matter. Famtasia records the inputs (Up, Left, A) not the keystrokes (D,F,G). Are you sure you have the right ROM file? Japanese, American, and European versions can be different, and even different versions of those three can exist.

I don't often quite well know that ether. Plus I don't want to clutter the page with too much information. However it's been asked a few times, so it's still on the planning list.

the exact same thing happens to me to, kirby's adventure, rygar, castlevania 2 and solstice dont work for me. they run, but they dont do what they are supposed to. it seems as if the timing for the button presses are desynced to the actual game. i dont know how to fix this either as i only know 1 place to get roms and they are only the US versions. all the other fmvs i've tried have worked

All the four games you mentioned were European versions. I added now a cleartext note that you need the European version to replay the fmv.

For Super Mario Bros., both Yy's video and my video work with the same rom. I think for that game the Japanese and US versions are identical. Edit: I noticed you don't know what rom version works for some of the movies so I'll try to find out some of them for you. Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers works with the (U) version and not the (E) version. Edit 2: Contra works with the (U) version. Edit 3: Gradius works with the (U) version, the (J) version, and the (E) version. Edit 4: Gremlins 2 does not work with any version. Edit 5: Castlevania works with the (U) (PRG1) version and not the (U) (PRG0) version or the (E) version.

Your movie works with my ROM but Yy's one goes out of sync in the level 8-4. Here are two screenshots. The first one is the beginning of the level 8-4 (there stairs are different in different versions), and the second is the place where it dies.

Regarding the "version unknown" movies, those are files whose CRC32 don't match any of the files from the GoodNES archive after deleting the possible "diskdude" tag from the all files. The Contra and Gremlins 2 ROMs I received from the authors. Thanks for testing anyway, I'll edit the entries accordingly.

I also have a rom that doesn't work with Yy's video, but I don't know which version it is. I'll try downloading lots of different versions to try to figure out which version doesn't work with Yy's video. Edit: Does anyone know what all the things mean that are at the end of rom names? For example, what does PRG mean, and what does ! mean, what does a1, h1, and t1 mean? Here are some of the Super Mario Bros. roms I can choose from at the website I go to: Super Mario Bros. Yeah, yeah, I know, sorry for the extreme gravedig... -_- But that desyncing Gremlins 2 FMV was driving me up the wall, so I went on a search to find the correct rom version. It seems Sleepz was indeed using a bad dump, as "Gremlins 2 - The New Batch (U) [b1]" was the only one I could get to play from start to finish with no troubles; the other 6 I tried all desynced, usually having Gizmo take a lava bath at the end of 3-2...^_^ Finally can get rid of that "unknown version" label on the site. Yay =P
