I used Gens for this video. Didn't use any warps or passwords. Abused the collision area a bit. I don't use death, but I did take hits. I simply aimed for the fastest time possible. Game was beaten in about 38 minutes or so.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the continuation of Sonic the Hedgehog, but this time, adding in one of Sonic's most famous sidekicks, Miles "Tails" Prower. Again, Robotnik is threatening the world with mechanical robots ranging from rediculous to extremely annoying.
The movie wasn't terribly hard. Save States helped alot to get alot of my mess-ups and turn them into something more. Most of the 'stunts' that I pull off generally were out of pure luck, and didn't require a save state, since I pulled them off flawlessly. Generally, without even trying.
As for someone liking the result of the movie, I wasn't totally aiming to please everyone, since this was generally a first-movie, done on a bit of free time. I also plan to do Sonic the Hedgehog 2, with all emeralds, as fast as possible.. and attempt to cut the time down dramatically on this movie. I know I make a few mistakes, and by watching the movie, I realize I can work on several problems that, at first, seem relatively minor, but in the end, can shave off several seconds to a few minutes.

Bisqwit: Nice to hear you've played this game, but we'll wait until a serious submission. Read the comments for details. Rejecting this one.

http://www.soniccenter.org/?/videos/sonic_2 im at the ruins thusfar... but this link may prove of some help. since you aim for a fast time and these videos try to be entertaining as well, this site will provide the world records and videos. Sprint did some, didn't he? haha... anyhow... use slow motion more... and a LOT more rerecords... if you've seen SprintGod's Sonic 3 run, you'll get a good idea of what is expected. simply put... theres a lot of mistakes... im sure someone else will get into the details of it. ill edit the post when im fully done. curious... how much time do YOU think you could bring it down to? EDIT: -Use spindash more often... it'll speed things up -Don't take damage unless it saves time -Don't "wait" for things to happen... keep moving and move fast (its Sonic) -you really don't need so many power-ups oh, and the time for 12 of the 18 stages is 9:04 with Sonic alone (added up from site records). granted, with stage ends/begins and intros it would be longer... but not by about half an hour. EDIT: oh, and end the movie when the last button is pressed... otherwise, we officially recognize it as not ending until the time the MOVIE FINISHED pops up.

well, i know its your first run, but submitting movies is for movies that have a chance of getting published, your run has clear flaws and doesnt beat the world records which ARENT tool assisted.

Well, after just watching the first level (0:38) it's obvious that this is not even the same zip code as good. My only hope is that submission will make someone make a serious attempt.

This is a fast walkthrough, not a speedrun :P I also hope you try to look around and find out what we mean, and don't take it as too big of a disappointment.

I don't mean to sound like a prick, but it does seem awfully suspicious to have two bad sonic runs submitted days apart from eachother, by two different users who have just joined. Also, their first course of action was to submit a run...of sonic. It seems like something marsh would do. But it could just be a coincidence...

Actually, M.I stands for Magic Inc., not Marsh, first off. Figured i'd get that out of the way. To be honest, I never really used slow-motion. I had originally planned to, but then realized that I didn't quite have as much time as I thought I had. I've never seen SprintGod's Sonic 3 run but I saw that one that was posted here, and figured i'd try my hand at the game that I had played so many times as a kid that I even remembered most of the levels simply by pure experience. As far as how much I think I could bring the movie down to, that depends on how much time i'm willing to get better and improve on the project. Without all the jargon, 29 minutes or less. Sometimes I really had to wait for things to happen. There weren't alot of options as far as that went, unfortunately. There were a ton of instances where I had to re-record and try to get the visibly best results, most importantly, in the levels that counted. I tried to keep the 'damage' thing in mind. There were alot of instances where I was able to pull that off and make use of being able to rush through a large group of enemies during the short invincibility, but you generally won't see that very often. I'll see what I can do as far as working on that. Oh, and Quietust.. here's your twetny minutes back. :D

Yeah, lol. It was the very beginning of the movie, and it was my bad. I didn't feel like pressing the 'Record New Movie' button again. There were no other submissions for Sonic 2, and thusly, I didn't feel particularly pressed for time, so there were alot of instances where i'd messed up and simply let it slide. Oh yeah.. thanks for the criticism, everyone. It's greatly appreciated.

Now that's not the attitude you want to have! You want to say, "This movie will be so good that nobody will ever be able to obsolete it," even if that turns out not to be true.
