I'm surprised there were no topics for this game. Sorry for jumping around these topics so much. Driver 2 advance just freezes on me at some point for whatever reason. Driv3r gba is just junk. And this version is real good. A couple of funny facts about this game in terms of "competition". First of all, there's a Russian "speedrun" of this game on youtube, and its 1 hour slower than the "longplay" on cubex55. How crazy is that? I feel like that longplay on cubex55 is tool assisted to avoid death. I think the world record is 2:35 or something using the psn version of the game. Idk. But still, that run is full of mistakes, and contains some deaths. And its on twitch.. I actually made a "no damage" attempt on my youtube account. Its a failed attempt, using psxjin. Which has faster loading times. So now we have bizhawk, which does have slower loading times(but its legit), and I've managed to beat that time by ~40 seconds at the end of Chicago. Here is video evidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CP2YzoNlyqY Next I will upload the rest of the game. I'm guessing it should be done in less than 2 hours. Time will show.

Well, the testrun is complete and on youtube and even suggested that it be submitted, but I'd figure it'd be rejected. Now I'm working on the optimized product, but I'm having trouble syncing the bk2 file.. My computer had no problem with syncing a 2 and half hour movie of the same game, but now its giving me trouble. Here is the file: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/34837704724301238 I have heard that driver 2 has some framerate problems, and in my testrun, I go through the menus a bit slow, while the optimized product I press DOWN earliest frame possible, so I guess it doesn't like that.. idk. Sometimes slowing the game down can help. Not to mention the continue button is delayed.. So you can't just breeze through that menu..

Got another improvement! http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/40114480431424653 But I'm having a hard time encoding the run.. Like combining the video files... Make sure profile settings are set to tool assisted.

In case anyone is interested, in escape to the ferry mission, you have to make a sloppy jump to save time. If you make it smooth, the level will take longer to end. Isnt that weird?

Really? Im not sure if I will redo this again. I mean, the ferry jump strat is in testrun and even in tbe god awful run in 2016. Plus, this game is very hard to truly optimize. Now, 6000+ recrecords is very low for a 3d driving game thats similar to GTA. And a truely optimized tas may not differ much from what you see above. There are new strats and better routes found, but I would much rather see an actual GTA tas instead. One that doesnt flip the camera up and down. Another useful trick: autofire the X button while turning. You could probably guess what that does.
