I'm considering doing a speedrun of this game (it's between this and Metal Storm)... I just wonder if I'm even in the leauge to do it. I was able to get through the first 2 stages in just under 3 minutes. I'll try to get a testrun done in the next few days and see what time I'm looking at. Some notes about the game: 1) Like many NES games, shooting while jumping is best 2) Jumping should only be used when necessary, as there are pauses when jumping (a much bigger pause if you jump straight up or down) 3) There are hostages to save, but only 1 is required for each stage, and it has to be a specific one. 4) I don't see much use to getting hit in this game, many hits will kill you, and those that don't kill you don't seem to speed you up or lift you enough to get you to another platform. This will go much faster once I figure out how to quit for a day and pick up where my movie left off the next day. I'm not good with the details of FCEU. Anyway, I would be most appreciative if those who are familiar with the game could give me any pointers or some idea as to how long the speedrun should take.

This game has come up before, mostly due its similarity to Rolling Thunder. Unfortunately, the NES version of Rolling Thunder licks balls, and this game is nearly identical to that game (some would say "rip-off" but not me). This game should go pretty fast. Most enemies only take one or two hits, and many can be ignored. There are no bosses except for the final stage. The only "power-up" that might come in handy is the machine gun in each stage. It's not more powerful but the firing animation is much faster.

ill give this a try, its quite fast paced and fun. finished...again [new notes in bold] -i followed unclejed's notes about not jumping too much. -however, in level 2, the excessive jumping improved the original time i had where i jumped less. and, considering the way the boxes were placed, it helped me move quicker because there didnt seem to be the halting that is normally accompanied by a jump (perhaps because i stop at the peak?). -level 3 had the first big challenges. the quick green men as well as the birds. i avoided a heart up because i dont plan on taking damage and it should make it more impressive. -saw some issues on 3 and for some reason i dawdle on 4... as well as some inaccuracies... so ill fix those when i go through the game again (this is a WiP) -every level from 4 on seemed to have an area i had to wait on before advancing. oh well, ill see if i can manipulate it better on the final version (which i should start tomorrow...no one seems to think one thing or another about this movie) -the last boss was... pathetic... as the only boss in the game, you'd think he would have been... tough? but no... -ok... so it ends up that they placed my grenade guy in a few different spots... which REALL confuses me seeing as how i didn't see anything majorly different. bah, oh well. -im done. its much quicker... 14 seconds overall. ill let it sit a day or so before submitting... im still not sure what to think of this pantless wonder.

CLChambers00 from Youtube: "Man with grenade's location changes every frame. It cycles through the locations. So if you finish stage one on a certain frame then the bomb guy will show up in a certain location, and if you finish one frame later then he will show up in the next location in the cycle. The first location is based upon the frame you enter the map screen which is not possible to buffer through text, and yes the second level spawn is based on the frame you end level one. " Also I think we can save time (about 340 frames/5.6 seconds) by typing password to the 1st level and skip Commander Jones' speech. Is it allowed? I know 2 passwords to 1st level: 028336 and 217298. But how can we check which one is Hard difficulty?

I don't know if there are any time saves in the Theory Tas that I made but I thought I would post it here for historical purposes having created it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ln0q5_OQts
