I am currently working on a speed run (or time attack, or whatever you want to call it) for Strider for Genesis. This is probably one of the tougher games i've played, the first time I played through it it took me 2 continues, and that was with save states. Anyways, here are my times so far, more will be added as I progress. Level 1 - 1:28 Level 2 - 3:26 Level 3 - 5:13 Level 4 - 6:17 http://dannyfowler.150m.com/gens_movies/strider_v1_dan_.gmv The rom I have is Strider_(UE)_[!].bin

Is it faster to slide continuously, like Mega Man?

On flat surfaces, it's faster to slide, but when going uphill you should jump, and going downhill you walk.

Finally finished with a time of 9:20.73. There are a few spots for improvement, but under 9 minutes would be amazing. The link the the .gmv is in the first post.

This is the final version of my speed run. I have worked very in it so that it is the fastest and perfect possible. The commands (the majority of them) had been inserted in the accurate frame action to happen it. For the time being only 2 stages are ready, but already I obtained to almost lower my previous time in 10 seconds. Will be the barrier of 7 minutes a time impossible to beat? The time will only say. http://www.angelfire.com/rnb/gamevideos/movies/GEN_Strider_UE_by_Neofix_v5.zip Edit: Speed Run is Done!

It looks faster than your v4 run but I don't know the game well enough to see where the 10 second improvement comes from. Maybe you could list things you have improved. Even with just two levels, you have almost as many rerecords in v5 as in your full v4 run.

Wow, it's excelent, i can see some moves that weren't in the earlier version, like going up faster, killing the "eye with lasers" mini boss in the first level faster by shooting slower and some weird movement going up the wall that doesn't have any animation (the character look stopped in animation, but moves up). Yea, try to beat the 7 minute barrier hehe

Anyone can help me improve this run? I already saved 112 frames in the first stage by taking a different route in the glitched area after skipping the first mini-boss. Anyone got some tricks or new glitches for this awesome game? Here's a WIP.
