When I play a game in FCEUX, the image looks great -- nice, clean pixels. However, when I save the recording to AVI format, the video looks blurry, like it has bilinear filtering applied. How do I get a nice, clear AVI video in FCEUX? Here are my video settings: ru image host[/img]

I always use a lossless codec. In this case, I used CamStudio Lossless Codec.

It's impossible to get a blurry image with a lossless codec if you're watching it at native resolution.

Then something is messed up with my settings. When I dumped AVI in other emulator (lsnes), the video looks perfect.

Which version of CamStudio Lossless Codec are you using? Does it happen with other codecs, too?

I'm using CamStudio Lossless Video Codec v1.5. Yes, it happens with other codecs too (Lagarith, Huffyuv). I'm using the latest version of FCEUX (v2.2.3, Win32).

Can you upload a clip somewhere? File hosting, not streaming service.

No, I've set the window size X and Y multiplier at 4X. But I've also saved the AVI with the default X and Y values (1,1), and the dumped AVI still looks filtered. How do I remove the filtered look?

Yeah, that's x1 size. There's nothing going on there.

In what language is this called "filtered"?

Have you played the actual video, instead of taking screenshots?

That's weird. I've played the AVI in multiple media players, and in each one of them it has bilinear filtering applied. The dumped AVI files from lsnes look perfect in the same media players. I'll try Bizhawk.

How can I take screenshots without playing the video?

ClearSky are you playing it in fullscreen or double res or something similar.

You're going to get the same problem, and I'll tell you why.

You need to watch the AVI file back at 1x size (or 100% zoom) to not get the filtered look. If your media player of choice is resizing it to any degree, it gets filtered. The emulators should all dump at 1x size, so for an NES game it will always be 256x240

Ok, I found the problem. It was my media players. The videos look great now. Thanks everyone. BTW, this is a great emulator.
