You pick up a small powerup to Rush Spring costing you a few frames, and you do not need that powerup... And is the lag from the bees worth entering menu once and getting that large powerup for?

Vatchern claims that the only way to affect an item drop is to get it at a different time, and he couldn't beat the enemy at any other time.

Sorry folks, there was one thing i never tried. I never tried delaying me seeing him for a frame or two (had to wait 2 frames) but it saved 2 frames. Then i gained another frame in the next room. So im 3 frames ahead of the run i have posted. Will post new run when i have Hardman killed again. Thanks TNSe for making me think harder :)

http://vatchern.maclenet.com/Rockman3-Top.zip same link, same name, but now 41 frames faster. Improvement 1: The pointless powerup grab was solved by a 1 frame wait before seeing the enemy. saved 2 frames. 2. The roomwith the 1 jumping monkey, i saved 1 frame from grabbing the ladder later or quicker. 3. The room with the 3 movinf machines, saved around 10 frames by more precision in my jumps. 4. The last area with a Mother bee, i slided on the first 2-block-pit instead of the second, causing the Bee to fly further and make him dtop the bees later, causing the Explosion-Lag to happen later, saving around 10 frames. 5. Improved the Clone-Protoman fight by 7 frames. 6. I improved the Hardman fight by 11 frames. Improvements 5 and 6 i have no idea what i did better. This comes to a total of 1060 + 41 = 1101 frames ahead Kopernical(18 seconds + 21 frames) In hardman level, Frames gained was 243 frames. ( 4 seconds and 3 frames) Next Boss: Topman.

For the second trick, do you need rush jet for it to work?

Thats funny finalfighter! But it didn't really look like it could save alot of time in those sequences compared to the regular slide. Or am I very wrong about that? But perhaps there are other places where it could be a bigger time saver?

Those two files crashes WMP when I open them, and even crash Explorer when I try to go to the directory where I put them. That's nasty :/ Can someone tell me what's going on (both in with the crashes and the tricks)?

Works fine in mplayer (linux). Ok.. I'll try to describe some. I think it's gemini man's level (where you can shoot eggs so that fishes spawns). He uses rush jet to get him self in place. Then he get's hit by an enemy and zips right through eggs and a wall (partially the floor).

Hey everybody, Vatchern has concluded that he is now so super awesome at this game that he can finish it on his own, so he doesn't need to post partial movies anymore. He wants it to be a surprise that he finishes the game.

Looking great so far I think? I did not see anything that I found sub-par, so I think that is good :D

That was a great idea in Shadow Man's level when you used your switch to Magnet Missles to avoid an enemy. The only thing I noticed was in Spark Man's level, when falling down the big pit, you hugged the right wall. I don't know if this game has momentum acceleration like the Mario games do, but if it does, it may save a frame to stay to the left of that wall and press right as the earliest moment that won't have you hitting that wall.

I think the Game Boy games other than 2 have horizontal momentum in the air, but the rest don't.

Wow, looks great. My only questions are on a couple weapon switches. At the end of Top Man you switch from Magnet to Needle, then to Hard Punch for the boss. But Hard Punch hurts the guy you used Needles on and I think you would have plenty left for Top Man, so why not switch to Hard Punch there? The other one is in Spark Man, you use magnets for a while, then switch to Shadow Blades. Are the Shadow Blades too slow for those falling bricks? You could use Shadow Blades more, but then you have to pick up those powerups in the end. Is that the only reason you don't switch earlier?

Well, In topman stage, it would NOT be a good thing to switch to hardman punch, because when you shoot, you are froze in the air for maybe 10-20 frames. and you have to shoot several times. With the sparkman stage. like you said, if you had shadowman equipped, you would have to grab those nasty powereups, so thats why i use Magnet Missil.

Heh, maybe you could have bounced back and forth off the walls in the long chute to make it a little more interesting. Oh well, you've finished it all right.

A simple "taking hit" should be faster and more effective than switching weapons but Im sure Vatchern tested.
