I remember that... But that movie's more about finding glitches, not secrets, I think.

What if the score run was done on a SMB3 hack?
Guybrush: "I'm selling these fine leather jackets." Wally: "Really?" Guybrush: "No. I 'm lying." Wally: "In that case, I don't want one!" Currently working on: Nothing at the moment.

A hack in which Mario has a funny beard? I could go for that! Wait wait... 2-player run! 2-player SCORE run! Max out both players' scores somehow.

How about 1 fcm that's both a speedrun and a score run! Edit: And by that I mean 2 different runs like the Megaman X/X2 run, like for example with one starting from a save state and one starting from reset.

You should get the high score speedily, of course.

Would you time it to max score as soon as possible or as you fight Bowser?

Well, you get a time bonus after beating Bowser! But I honestly don't know how soon you can reach the score cap playing every level exactly once. If you're just stuck at all 9s for a long time, that might not be as interesting.

How about getting your last points by killing Bowser? You could take the road you want, but you'd have to be at 999,999,999 when Bowser is dead. So Flutes (whistles, recorders, whatever) will be useful.

you can get it pretty early by boucing off turtle shells and letting them revive and then you not falling on the ground. then you fall on the ground just before getting 1-up and repeat process untill there's only enough time left to end the level. there are some levels where you can do this and that would give a lot of points.

Well you could do that in Super Mario Brothers 1 by stopping the stair trick every time you hit 1-ups, right? Might be boring...

I'd say don't linger around too long doing point tricks, keep going at a moderately fast pace through the game.

Yeah that's what I'm saying, don't stay at one point in the game and do a trick. I say use the route that will give you the most points, without completly stopping.

Oh, I just read that the coin ships will only appear in worlds 1, 3, 5, and 6.

I have to admit, I laughed when you managed to die in that toad house in world 2... I always considered that impossible to do, great work!

I'm working on a new version of the amazing run, but I need to know if this one is acceptable, because I use cheats to improve the quality of the movie. http://genisto.servehttp.com/projects/smb3_amazing_run_v2.zip Cheats used: unlimited of suits unlimited of: Mario become small unlimited of clouds (to skip borring stages) unlimited of stars (show some tricks) unlimited of music boxes take less time to run fast unlimited of time for stars and [!] My preview version desynchro again near the end of world 5 with the last version of Fceu or at the beginning of world 6 with the preview version. The movie finish at world 6 at the second castle. For more detail on the desynchro: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1020&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=100 My preview run: http://genisto.servehttp.com/timeattacks/smb3_amazing_run_world6.zip To be able to watch my new version, you need the cheats included in the zip and you need the last version of Fceu.

Refused. Reason: It decreases the worth of your movie. It's no longer the same game. Especially because of "take less time to run fast". Ps:

i could go with these: unlimited of suits unlimited of: Mario become small unlimited of clouds (to skip borring stages) unlimited of stars (show some tricks) unlimited of music boxes but the other 2 don't look right.

I agree with Bisqwit here. Part of the entertainment value in your other movie is derived from realising what can actually be done within the limitation of the game. (A lot of the positive commentary has been coupled with a "Haha, I never knew this was possible" remark.) I'd be less interested in seeing what can be done with this and this cheat. It's all kind of arbitrary and infinitely less spectacular once you start changing the conditions to suit whatever you're doing. I'd much rather see you continue the other run, if it is possible. I do have one question, though: Are there any item box stars in the game that can only be acquired by beginning the level with a star? I've heard there are. Andreas

I've heard of those... I'm pretty sure there's one level where you can get "continuous starmen" by hitting the star blocks along the way before your star time runs out.

yes but he meant a level that doesn't have a starman (has just coins instead) unless you use a starman to start the level, then the coin is an extra starman.

Bag, you're talking about levels like 3-2 where there's a starman at the beginning of the level to start the continuous starman. I think he's referring to a stage with NO starmen whatsoever, but where you can trigger continuous starmen by starting the level with a star from your inventory. I've never heard of this... does a level like this exist?

Yes. I looked this up in the FAQ just now, and 6-1 is one of them.
