Here in part 5, pretty straitforward, haste wasn't possible and gravity wasn't worth. Prepare for hellfire :D Link to video

Link to video Let's call this part "the beautiful one" or "the I hate my life one". Manipulating rng was the worse. Never killed Maggie, so I'm proud ^^ Didn't expect the sub 1 minute boss tho ;)

In the upper left room near the back of the mansion, you hit each of the Tonberries twice, then retreat all the way to the door before turning around and running back to hit them the third time... is there a reason for this strategy? Wouldn't it be faster to deliver the third hit locally? O.o

It's all about the timing of the tiles (changes the symbol of the races so you can open the door with yours). I arbitrary tried this strategy for 2 main reasons: 1- If I kill him and take his gold, I'll be too late for the tile; 2- I calculated that it would be fast to let him follow me since I have to anyway get back to the door. He walked, so saved some times to take the item (distance wise). It's funny you mention this room, because after finishing everything, I said to myself "I could do this room faster". But for how much? Not sure. Not worth redoing everything neither. I might as well consider it a "possible room for improvement". Thank you for asking, you are probably totally right since it was close to be my first way to do it anyway (changed for the 2 reasons mentionned).

Oh! I'd forgotten the tiles on the floor changed races. It's been years since I've played this game. :) Looks good, with that in mind!

You probably saw me make Mog take and put down the chalice at random places, it was rng manipulation for transitions, so I can always have the symbol I want the other way (running in some positions also do the trick) without losing any frame. So it's not exactly an excuse since I could maybe have manipulated the symbol as something else. Anyway, this is by far the room I'm "less proud" (still proud, a lot of work) and it can definitely be faster by 1 or 2 seconds I think.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Link to video This part was funny. I concede the total victory of this battle to the giant crab, who genuinly countered many times everything I done, including pushing me outside of the safe zone while doing fusion, and making me miss an hit (wich didn't lose any time). First boss, and probably the only, to last more than 1 minute.

I did many improvisation on this part. Mostly because I was planning a route and changed my mind arrived at some destinations, because I just found a faster way. We could consider them mistakes, they are 2, and I prefer consider them playaround since they don't make me lose time, or at least not very much. Well, only you can judge it. The execution was as perfect as I could, like always, so even with these 2 minor little thingy, this is a "high quality" work. Link to video This is the end of year 3. Thank you very much everyone following this. I'm dreaming of sub 2 hours, and it's a dream that can come true. Let's continue :)

What have you done about the randomised spawn positions of the monsters who hold the keys? I don't know all the spawn positions but it seems like you have to go relatively out of your way at times Otherwise mostly great! I'm really impressed with what I see. Interesting that Yuke is fastest, since that's the only one that no-one has completed an RTA speedrun with (thought RTA does have access to the infinite gil glitch to get awesome physical weapons immediately) One other question: do you know what the probability of getting the cure ring from that chest in Selepation Cave is? I did a few runs to that chest on PAL (about 20) and only found two different armour designs so I'm wondering whether that's a version difference

Those ennemies can be placed at 5 different places. 2 of them are way too far out of my way, 1 is a little out of the way too, and these 2 are probably the best positions I can get. I manipulate them at the frame I press A when I enter the dungeon. Problem is, I have to manipulate the bonus points too with the same technique (needed 103 points for the good set of artefact, and then manipulate the artefacts after the boss). This is the best route possible because 1 is in the route to my third thunder magicite (north-west) and the other is in range of my haste spell (otherwise, it would be at the other side of the map, making the route either without haste, or a big detour). Daemon's Court is a "one room" dungeon, and I calculated, after many tests, that this would be my best route possible. Going "out of the way" is a necessity here, and it's also what happens in RTA anyway. Also, since I'm a mage, I have to create good opportunities for magicites. I do not recommend to play Yukes in RTA. Too dangerous, and only faster if you use perfect TAS-only plays. I'm not talking about tricks, really, a superplay, like dodging every single calculated attack and go fast enough to "overwrite" some monsters/boss cycles. I have hard times playing the dungeon normally just for my testings and it is very slow. I don't know about the probabilities of the cure ring. I know it's very rare. But I also know how to manipulate it without losing frame (or at most 1 or 2 frames, I lost 0 frames in this TAS) so it doesn't matter really much. Armor designs are not supposed to be on that chest (in my version, there is only heart pendant and cure ring) so I guess either it's a version difference or you are not at the good cycle or you confuse it with another chest :) Thank you for your appreciation <3

I started on these memory watching resources a while back but never got around to finishing them: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q9eNkOBX3dRtC2A5Dh3CHBt_HV92VsytqS5JKxZrdL8/edit#gid=714475538 I also made a little tool to show your current bonus calculation information. https://github.com/adituv/FFCC-Helper (Download precompiled executable)

Hi everyone! Long time no see :) First of all, I want to explain my pause at TASing. It's actually pretty simple: I got a lack of motivation at a moment where it was beginning to be very hardcore. Plus my computer stopped working correctly, my keyboard not responding, and it was impossible to TAS anymore. Second, I still continued working on this game (it's my favorite game of all time, so yeah :P). So I did a any% route with the Lilty. Here it is: ========== Iron Lance 15 (23) River Belle Path (1) Shuriken B+0 +1 Novice's Weapon Steak (24) The Mushroom Forest (1) Double Axe C +1 Iron (25) The Mine of Cathuriges (1) Green Beret M +1 Iron (26) Partisan 20 100$ (31) Goblin Wall (1) Double Axe B+0 +1 Warrior's Weapon (32) Tida (1) Twisted Headband B+0 +2 Master's Weapon Steak+Artéfact+1 (34) Moschet Manor (1) Flametongue B+0 +2 Alloy (2) Artéfact+1 (36) Sonic Lance 25 300$ (41) River Belle Path (2) Loaded Dice B+119 +2 Mythril Steak+Artéfact+2 (43) The Mushroom Forest (2) Ice Brand C +2 (45) The Mine of Cathuriges (2) Sasuke's Blade B+145 +3 (48) Dragon Lance 30 700$ (53) Goblin Wall (2) Mjollnir B+138 +3 Artéfact+2 (56) Tida (2) Giant's Glove B+193 +3 Steak+Artéfact+2 (59) Moschet Manor (2) Masquerade B+132 +3 Artéfact+2 (62) Veo Lu Sluice (1) Ashura C +1 Steak (63) 300$ Lynari Desert (1) Heavy Armband B+226 +3 Artéfact+2 (66) Mount Vellenge (1) Masamune +5(+9) Artéfacts(+Steak) (71) Total: +28 +5(+9) +30 +8 (+2) = 82 ========== Ok, it MIGHT be hard to understand. First of all, I routed on the assumption making money is a waste of time. BUT that an attack damage route is still faster. That's why my father would be a blacksmith, because I can get discounts, and save money. On the same logic, I never use the river. My only boat cost is 300$ to go to Lynari desert. And finally, I get myself all material needed instead of buying them. Is it really the fastest way to do? I don't know, probably not, I just used a theorical logic. I calculated everything almost perfectly, optimised the artifact drops, and made sure every boss fight would be as fast as possible by eating steak if necessary. I hope this routing can be useful, that's the reason I'm dropping it here. Finally, I managed to, wait for it, play in multiplayer! Yeah! But ther is no way to do "legally" a TAS with this. I imagined ways to make some parts of the game with it, with savestates and such, but I'm still wondering a better way. I mean, if I could place the gba imputs on dolphin, it would be great. I know a recent Wind Waker TAS did it, do you guys think it's possible to do with this game too? Well well, there is everything I needed to say. Have a great day :)

The way the Wind Waker TAS did it was to create a high-level replacement for GBAs instead of actually emulating GBAs. That kind of approach requires game-specific code to be added to Dolphin. It should be possible to do the same thing for this game, but you need to find someone who's willing to write that code. Keep in mind that this method can be problematic when it comes to verification of TASes, since it might be possible to cheat on the GBA side if the high-level replacement doesn't act identically to the original GBA software. I'm not sure if a decision has been made yet on whether submissions to this site are allowed to use the method. The Wind Waker thread has more information about the potential problems. It's not impossible that there will be a proper solution that works for all games at some point in the future, but there's no timeframe for when that will happen.

It would not necessarily be for publication, mostly for demonstration. Simply entertainment to see multiplayer TAS ^^

Hello guys, long time no see ^^ I restarted my run completely with a new route. Yes, sorry, I lost my motivations, but now I'm back. I didn't want to tell you I'm back before at least finishing 3 years (like precedent TAS) knowing I might create false hopes. But now, here it is, and I'm working right now at year 4 ;) Link to video Link to video Link to video It's 2 minutes longer than my past try, but it's way more optimised and will be worth for the endgame. Enjoy :)

After thinking about it, I still want to get the sub 2 hours all dungeons. So I made an all new route, based on doing the dungeons faster, and the bosses slower. I hope I can shave off many minutes with that. Hello :D In follow up of my successful TAS that got under 2 hours, I'm still aware of the ways I can get it slightly better with, per example, using more than 8 directions (d-pad). I still need to learn this a bit, since for now I'm not good with it. I worked on a new route that should balance magic power and fast dungeons. I saw in my last run that I lost many time in bosses, sometimes more than 10 seconds by bosses, and I'm pretty confident I can save some seconds by simply doing some minor detours for better artefacts. Here's my route for now: Y1 15 River Belle Path(1) Kris+3(B+119) Fruit Water 18 Mushroom Forest(1) Silver Bracer,Mage Masher,Cat's Bell+1(C) Fruit+2 19 Cathuriges Mine(1) Moogle Pocket(B+116) Magic+1 Fruit Y2 19 The Goblin Wall(1) Wonder Wand+3(B+110) Magic+1 Fruit Fire Water 22 Moschet Manor(1) Red Slippers+3(B+84) Magic+3 Fruit 25 Tida(1) Dragon's Wisker+1(B+0) Y3 26 River Belle Path(2) Mage's Staff+5(B+119) Magic+3, Fruit+2 Fruit Wind 50$ 31 Daemon's Court(1) Winged Cap+1(B+0) Mythril,Fruit 32 Selepation Cave(1) Mage Masher,Cat's Bell+1(C) Fruit+2 Y4 Earth Water 500$ 33 Kilanda(1) Noah's Lute+5(M) Fruit+2 38 Conall Curach(1) Sage's Staff+3(B+0) Fruit+2 41 Rebena Te Ra(1) Rune Bell+3(C) Fruit+2 Y5 300$ 44 Lynari Desert(1) Book of Light+1(C) Holy 300$ 45 Veo Lu Sluice(1) Ring of Blizzard+1(B+0) 50$ 46 Mount Vellenge Magic+9+5+5+5 70 But guys, if I want to do the perfect run, I need your help. If you have any idea or techniques, tricks, criticises, question, anything, don't fear to ask :) We did a great job already, but I know we can push this game to its limits :) Thank you again for all the support :)

I remember playing this 4p on GBAs with my friends, and seeing you rip through this so quickly is jaw-dropping. You've put a lot of time into this, Wobmiar! It looks great. :)
