Any news on the 0 Star TAS? Are you guys still working on it or is it on hold for now?

There's a potential new strat for the 70 Star BLJless TAS. Relevant videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tERnmcvJhtk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHeBJG3ZNQM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55ykbz6WjBs Hopefully this gets figured out, and ends up faster.

The news is that they’ve been hoarding how to enter the moat door from TASers who’d actually put it into good use (the Japanese) because the western SM64 TASing community is made up by a bunch of faggots. With the exception of Plush.

I'm confused. Isn't there a video on how to enter the moat door? Why not reverse-engineer how to do it from that?

There have been allusions to a much faster way of entering the moat door, though I'm not sure if it was confirmed working or if it was just speculation they were attempting, or if I'm even remembering this correctly in the first place.

PU strats are really hard to reverse-engineer. But yeah, there is a much faster method now.

I thought the main issue arised from being able to enter the grate to get to the Vanish Cap in an optimal fashion.

The public moat door entry method requires a wing cap, which is slower to get than the key, and wouldn't be 0-star compatible regardless. There's some chance that a BLJ->HSW strat could reach PU speed without using the vanish cap course, but I haven't looked for HSW points because it's obviously much slower than beating Bowser 1 and pounding the pillars.

I don't think BLJ->HSW would work, and even if it did. It would probably take an eternity to pull off. I was under the impression that these Japanese TASers found a way into the Vanish Cap without the wing cap.

The "western" authors did. And the run is almost finished, so please be patient. This project is basically the most monumental change in this category since the 5:28 dropped to 5:04.

Do moderators exist? Lol. It would be cool if ignorant people weren't allowed to freely spread lies and slander others for no valid reason.

Yeah… sure. All you have to do after the skip is hexing the rest of the run from the old any%. Oh wait, the Japanese improved the optimization of that a ton and you people never tied their improvements. I guess that’s what’s taking you so long.

Look at this guy with the inside info! Too bad it's all wrong, glad you're not making bets about this, ahahaha. By all means, keep saying things you have no idea about. It is what you're associated with after all. inb4 I get blamed for provoking a "derail"

Stay on topic, don't call each other slurs, don't throw out wild accusations and keep the petty arguments to an extreme minimum... Preferably non-existent. This is directed at everyone. We don't need another gigantic derailing shitstorm in this thread, and we don't need another one in general so soon after the last one.

We’re talking about the any%, I don’t see how this is a “derail” at all. That’s a reply to Samsara as well. This is pretty on-topic. If I’m wrong then you could very easily say what’s taking you people so long to finish the run. I remember pretty clearly you were saying it would only take a little time (like within weeks) many months ago when it was discovered.

Never said you were going off topic, I just said to stay on topic. It's fine to ask for a reason, but the insults are going too far. Just keep things civil, please.

I doubt I said that concretely or without the word "hopefully," etc. But it shouldn't matter regardless. Things change, unexpected stuff happens as time progresses, and there's nothing telling a forum can do that will speed up finishing. When the submission text is released, it'll all make sense. Until that time, no author has any obligation to updating the public. We have specifically chosen not to, as we want the reveal to be as huge as possible, and we have agreed this is the way to do so. It will be released this summer for sure and that's the only information I can reveal.

Yes. It's that big of a change, as you'll see soon enough.

I'm for changing the title to a "1 key" run. I think most people outwith the speed running community know a zero star run is already possible. So promoting it as a "1 key" should turn some heads.

Hm, I say we should decide once we see the run first. If it really is as massive of a change as you say, then I'd be down for a name change.
