This is Dustin's third attempt on Mega Man 3. His first attempt was 52 minutes long, this is 38.5 minutes long. https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/dustin3-megaman3.fmv Note: Despite that the author says it's Mega Man 3, you need a Rock Man 3 ROM to replay it. The major controversory thing in this movie is that the author uses the debugging keys from the second controller to boost the jumps. I don't allow it, because it's not a glitch in the game: it's a secret that was made for debugging purposes. I don't allow it for the same reason I wouldn't allow the uuddlrlrabs trick in Gradius. The author even used it sometimes where it isn't needed. The list of other problems I notified the author about included: - Excess shots in every place - Sliding is not perfect - Things that were done quicker in my (broken) attempt on January. Does anyone want to look at it and have a second opinion?

I agree that the jump cheat should not be used. I suppose you could argue that the rapid-pause cheat in MM1 is no better, but at least that trick only led to quicker boss battles. Some other things I didn't like: -Falling into a pit on Shadowman's level but using the jump cheat to survive. Kinda funny but seems lazy. Certainly not any faster than doing the jumps right. -Getting hit by Shadowman. Isn't it possible to use the Top Spin weapon without getting hit? Likewise in the "Heatman" battle. -Using Rush Marine on Geminiman's stage. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think running, sliding, and jumping would be faster. It certainly would look much cooler. -Takes a few needless hits on the second trip through Sparkman's stage -The fight against "Airman" was not cool. Morimoto did it without getting hit and used the regular gun. Likewise, takes a lazy hit from "Crashman" and on the final boss. As a whole, everything needs to be tighter. Morimoto's MM2 run had over 17,000 re-records. This run only has about 4000 for a much longer game. Some of the fights were really cool though, the Mega-clones and "Woodman" in particular. Thanks for posting this. I like this WIP board idea.

The pause trick in MM1 is not a cheat, but an exploit. It works because the game incorrectly redoes collision checks every time pause is removed. The MM3 jump trick is an intentionally left debugging functionality.

The copies of MM2 bosses in MM3 are not very exact copies. They don't act exactly the same, and their dynamics are a little different. Airman is not the only boss that is more difficult in MM3 than was in MM2.

I understand. "Flashman" was kicking my ass because he's so tall. My point is that I felt his fight against "Airman" wasn't fun to watch because he ran right into a tornado. It's just as easy to jump a little bit and shoot over them, especially since the new "Airman" is taller.

It has some good parts but overall, i'm disappointed with this run. At times this looks more like a speedrun than a time attack. He seems more concerned with not getting hit than saving time (ex.beginning of top man level, the bees in hard man level) and he wastes time collecting energy/weapons pickups. Super jump should not be allowed; you can go through entire levels just superjumping over enemies. Also, if the debug is permitted, then you could also use the second controller to freeze the bosses! not good.

there is only a two year difference between MM5 and MM 3. I find megaman 5 and 6 to be very cartoonish compared to MM3 (much easier too with the jet pack and all). I believe Megaman 2 is the best of the series...but it seems like bisqwit is encoding MM4 so that'll be interesting to watch.

I just noticed that theres a workbench and off topic forum :P. I watched Dustins fmv, and I see tons of room for improvement. I agree with feitclub that it could have been much tighter. Also, I didnt like the fact that it used controller 2. Even if you did use it, it could have been used a lot more efficiently than in this recording :) . Im working on my MM3 fmv at this moment. Its MM3 and not Rockman 3 btw. Its also gonna be about 5 minutes or so faster, and without using controller 2. I finish my 8 robots by the time he finishes gemini man. I think it looks great so far. It should be done by Thursday.
