Submission Text Full Submission Page
Dudley beats up everybody and corrupts the colors of the VS screen when character portraits show up.
A much improved TAS on my previous works, this time focusing more diverse combos and juggles rather than abusing AI. Also tried my first 2-Player fight, which was hard to make but satisfying in the end.

Samsara: Judging.
Samsara: Much like your previous submission, this run needs a lot of work before it's suitable for the site. Your input still looks like it was done in real time and it's clear you didn't re-record as much as you should have. That's not judging from the re-record count, that's judging from the sloppy execution of the run itself.
As I said, I feel as though the general reaction in the thread was a bit harsh, but they all bring up very good points: You need to watch the other playarounds on the site and see what makes them entertaining, and I don't just mean skim through them and immediately try to copy them. I mean you have to study them. Or at least copy them much more closely next time. TASing a fighting game playaround takes a lot of skill, effort, and patience. You need to understand the game, you need to put the work in to make sure it looks like a proper TAS, and you need the patience to sit there ironing out every single little mistake, whether it be a blocked punch or a whiffed kick. These TASes need to be absolutely flawless. Hell, all TASes need to be absolutely flawless. We may be harsh now, but it is more deservedly so this time around. Had this not been your second submission displaying numerous flaws, I feel we would be a lot kinder, especially if it seemed like you were listening to our suggestions... But I don't think you were.
Just to reiterate: At the very least, please use frame advance for your input. As a Judge, I shouldn't know that I'm going to reject a movie within the first 5 seconds, but I looked at the initial menuing and immediately thought "Yeah, that's absolutely suboptimal". Alongside that, use re-records much more liberally. We shouldn't be seeing missed or blocked attacks at all, let alone as frequently as they're happening in your submissions. The most useful, important thing you could do though is get involved with our community. Post more on the forums, upload some WIPs to Userfiles and share them with people, get audience feedback before making these submissions. Should you submit another low-quality, no-effort run like this, then we may revoke your submission privileges until you can prove to us that you're capable of making something worth publishing.
We don't mean to discourage you from making TASes in general, only terrible ones. We're an entire community made up of experts and newcomers alike, people who have been TASing for literally a decade and people who just picked up an emulator within the last month and started trying their hand at this hobby. There is absolutely someone out there who can help if you just ask, possibly multiple people depending on the game. And even if there isn't, someone will step up eventually. All we want is something entertaining, something worth watching, something where it's clear that great efforts were made into making the audience love what they see. You just need to take the time to make that.
I'm rejecting this run. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors.

Got about 5 seconds in. Please use frame advance. Menu input still looks like it was done in real time.

Don't call it a playaround when it is not, especially that display on the first stage. A lot of punches/kicks that do not connect when normally a playaround does. Not enough character variety compared to all the other playarounds. Terrible Menuing. Boring as all hell. No Vote.

I'm afraid I'll vote No, it didn't entertain me as much as this Third Strike TAS with Twelve. The same Super was kept being used, and in New Generation you can't change your super when the other player joins unlike the next two iterations.

Check and see what's out there. Here's a Dudley run specifically, which (eyeballing) is both faster (differen game edition, so more fights and bonus stages) and uses a lot more impressive combos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4LAWthEZSY

mod edit: removed unhelpful, baiting post. grassini, be encouraging, not dissuading <3 - Samsara
TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

That's Third Strike. Which has lot of changes to the game system then what New Generation and 2nd Impact are like. Notably reduced hitstun of attacks as well as less air normal attacks and grounded normal attacks in a stun combo. Here is a TAS of New Generation Dudley Link to video

I have to add my 'no' vote to the pile. I acknowledge that you've called it a playaround, but there doesn't seem to be much 'play'. The first fight has light punches that miss with no other effect (the CPU just stands there), and more light punches when the CPU has been knocked down. The second fight had a nice bit of parrying at the start, but it might be nicer to see parries followed by punishes, to "show the CPU that it can't touch you", and to better entertain me (and possibly the entire audience).

Voting No. You can't just call a movie that is lazily done a playaround. A playaround has to be both optimized and entertaining, and this is neither. Normally I'd be encouraging, but this is your second submission here. The first being #4871: Geferulf's PSX Street Fighter: The Movie "Playaround" in 27:56.69 , which has the exact same problems as this run. Here's a topic on learning how to TAS http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11513, which I recommend you look at.

There isn't much in here that looks "tool assisted" or otherwise interesting

don't really see how my comment was much worse than the rest,i told the guy to post on the forums and this is not the first time he submits when he shouldn't this guy needs to understand how bad his TAS is,and it's not like i was rude to him.

There's nothing "bad" about submitting runs like these, and behavior like that just drives away people that could be taking the rest of the thread's advice. If you want him to post on the forums, make him feel welcomed. Don't tell him to stop submitting, give him an alternative instead. Good behavior goes a long way, here. Lars_Hendrick, I apologize for the less-than-ideal responses in this thread, but I urge you to listen to the advice you're receiving for your next run. You may have your submission privilege revoked if you continually submit sub-optimal runs like these without showing any signs of improvement. I offered some advice in my judgement of your previous run that should help you get started in the meantime. Best of luck to you once again!

something in TAS fighting games I think easy will get entertaiment/playaround: - longest combos - trick/glitch - silly style in genius actions

Actually it wasn't bad moves but as said don't run well. 1- Dudley vs Ken: There's a moment where both are standby, an unnecessary action. 2- Also the author hasn't used the frame advance to the menu and select the difficulty 8. Something that was very human. 3- The brach should have been: "Dudley Run" or something. It's not a "playaround". I vote no.

Just a lot of one-sided battles with little in the way of exciting combos, other than the one 2 player fight with Ken. I didn't find it very interesting. An example of something I find interesting: Daigo Umehara down to 0 health, pulling off a full parry against a 15 hit Super Art followed by a counter attack and KO. You have to show off something "super human" like pulling off a full parry or an impossibly long combo. Choreographing an entertaining fighting TAS is an art. This looked too much like a science.

Please look at some of the Street Fighter runs on the site. They are way more entertaining than your attempt at a playaround. You basically shoved them into a corner and did the same combos over and over. Not entertaining. Sorry. Voting no. Edit: My personal favorite is the 2 player vs 1 CPU run. THAT is how you do it.
