So it's completely ok to show their games, but not their artwork (even though the games themselves show a thousand times more of the game artwork than some still images that are shown for a couple of seconds)? The rationale behind this baffles the mind. I don't even.
Add perlers here too.

1) Copyright law is very complex, and honestly rather stupid at times. I'm not an expert so trying to explain the difference is just going to lead to arguing and internet lawyering. 2) It was recommended that I ask other GDQ staff members for opinions so I did and that's the answer that came back. 3) This answer came from multiple staff members that I trust, and they took quite a while to chat about it and want to play it safe.

I still don't understand why are perlers okay, and how they are different from drawings.

We need to avoid any copyrighted material for the art we show on stream at AGDQ*. This includes the Futurama images, Nintendo related stuff, and anything of the sort. References to indie games should be ok however (Minecraft, Super Meat Boy, Shovel Knight, etc.).
Well, I guess there goes the "I will not..." meme of Bart Simpson: On other news, I added some text to the GDQ Logo. Tried to make the text look different than the font one, but not quite convinced in the results, so I may tweak it a little:

An idea inspired by feos came to me: reproducing the top screen in negative colors. After working out the details, I suggest reproducing the first question (or the first two questions, if it fits within the birthday screen) in white into black within the last birthday screen and have these two questions be the two first in the x100 seed. There was a lack of ideas when coming for the birthday screen, but reproducing this is only doable with a 2x2 pen, which only the birthday and name screen has. I've drawn a little example picture (on the x20/x100 field:)

For question #1, here's what I came up with: Link to video What do you think? Is that a good font? Is the drawing too slow? I wanted it to be slow and precise as if a robot was drawing it.

Looks perfect to me! Slow drawing means that the audience has time to look at the top screen to see the actual question. It's a good start I think. Also, I have something else I want to throw in here. This could be used instead of actually getting a wrong answer: Link to video

That's hilarious, but maybe leave it on a little longer before the game accepts it?

I forgot the answer I got from IRC. Should I smooth out my Knuckles and Gimmick?

I don't know what IRC said, but I think the Knuckles one might be more recognizable (during a fast-paced run) if it had smoother lines. The Gimmick one looks fine to me though. Also, I have an idea for another game we could potentially safely make drawings of: Mighty No. 9. One of comcept's recent Project Updates said that fans are "welcome to stream or record gameplay videos [of the demo] to share with your friends and followers", so they might be okay with their characters being part of AGDQ too. Examples of drawn versions of the characters that could be worked off of can be found through comcept's Communi-Day updates or by searching deviantArt.

<xy2_> is brain age becoming the shittiest image editing tool in existence? <micro500> xy2_: pretty much Here are what the first 5 questions look like.. Note that I've done two sets of inputs for this. The first one is with 10-20 frames pauses at the end of each image to help viewers see what's going on; the second one is the normal input (as fast as possible). Tell which one you like best, are pauses needed, should they be longer, etc. Pauses Link to video No pauses https://youtu.be/d1z9MvqIJP4

For copyrighted images, maybe you should contact the AGDQ 2016 administration directly? I believe they do and have sold and raffled fanart in the past as a part of the marathon. That and used fanart as logos/banners for the event.

Sorry if it wasn't clear in the earlier posts, but I am a senior staff member for GDQ and have been in contact with other staff members in relation to this issue. I don't really want to get into internet lawyering, but the issue is more complex than it seems and the GDQ staff wants to play it safe in general. We're still working together to get this figured out. edit: But yes, given this is intended for a very large audience, I prefer the pauses.

Haven't thought of many drawings lately. I tried to focus this time more on GDQ: 1. Nintendo Controller - Considering what has mentioned about copyright this may be a miss, but I decided to create it anyways because it's simple. Was considering whether or not to add the cord, but decided not to in the end. 2. Heaven (Ten) - It's the kanji that Akuma has on his back (when he performs his special). I was thinking it could be used as when the answer is ten (10). 3. Utah teapot or Newell teapot - A famous teapot used in 3D modeling. Was thinking on adding some light effect into it, but it's hard with the limitations... 4. Twitch's logo - Considering the stream takes place there I thought it was a good idea to create its logo. 5. Theyetee - One of the sponsors of GDQ (that's their mascot). 6. Caleb Hart - A speed runner that shows his Bodybuilder body. Due to the pencil restrictions, I couldn't add more details like the glasses he uses... Even if the person is not recognized, the flexing pose should be recognized. (I'm bad with drawing people :S)

The current plan is to just compile a bunch of images and have some other staff members give the approval. So we want a bunch of images anyway. If there's something you think is borderline and want to see it in, it's best to just make it anyway and we'll see what the other staff members think. Anyway, those all look pretty good. I'm not so sure on the teapot, personally, but they all look really good.

I like the Ten and the Celeb Hart ones. Please try the glasses too (at least in black for more swag).
