Whether savedata should go in savestates is some kind of controversial topic I'm not sure I've ever heard resolved clearly, it's possible for different programmers to have selected different approaches without ever knowing it. Major pain in the butt. Anyway, the needs of TASing should resolve it firmly in favor of keeping savedata in savestates, but many casual gamers hate it.
Responding here so it gets more attention, but would a valid compromise be that savestates during movie recording include save files and exclude them when not recording?

I believe I've found a bug in Final Fantasy Origins. When you beat Final Fantasy 1, you get two set of credits back to back. The first is for the original staff, the second is for the arranged version staff. Problem is, the second set doesn't appear. The proper background images are there, but the text doesn't show up. I haven't used any cheats, and I've tried different dumps of the game just in case, and the result is the same. Here are save states at the last boss, right after beating the boss and right before the second set of credits start. Hopefully someone can figure out what's going on. https://www.sendspace.com/file/threm0

Your savestates do not work for me. I did test the MD5 and SHA-1 of the image I have for the game. It is confirmed 100% good.

hegyak, presently, you have to have the other user's controller configuration matched perfectly to load a savestate. Use 1P only, gamepad, for these savestates. Reproduced bug on my iso

ReyVGM, Bug confirmed. Setting the PSX Controllers to Single, and Dual Analog, allows the savestate to load.

jlun2, no. It isn't safe. Games may always write data to save memory using it as a cache. On various platforms this ranges from common to forbidden or impractical, but it's generally an unwarranted assumption that it's safe to rip the save data out of a savestate. On NES it's common, and that's probably why that convention evolved the way it did. It's only been done differently on platforms with slow, removable save memory, because those emulators were used for one platform only and they were willing to accept the risks. A more generalized view of savestates is that an entire workbench full of equipment is savestated, everything sitting on it, and that includes memory cards. If you ever want to move the savedata off of the workbench then you click it and pick export or import.

Oh sorry, I didn't know the save states didn't work if the control config didn't match. But glad it was figured out.

I have an update for the Final Fantasy Origins issue. Now I don't know if that's how it's supposed to happen or not. On that second set of credits that are supposed to appear, those background images are different from the ones I remember. I found out why. Here's how it goes, when you finish the game the first time, on the 2nd set of credits you get a set of background images (that get added to your gallery), alongside the credits text. After that, you can start a new game and if you beat the game a second time, you'll get the 2nd set of images where the credits are supposed to appear (the saves I posted above). I found a save at the last boss without beating the game, I saw the ending, got the credits images I AND the credit text showed up correctly too. Here's the save at the ending: https://www.sendspace.com/file/5wpdj2 I can't find a youtube video of anyone beating the game a second time on another emu or console, so I don't know if you are supposed to get the credits or not. But I think you should because the 1st set of credits appear, why wouldn't the second one?

1st and 2nd sets of credits are different engines, different programmers, and with different rules governing the background art. I dont see why one has to do with the other. However, it's just plain odd to get the 2nd credits the 1st time you beat it, and not the 2nd. Maybe nobody tested that and the script for BG art + Credits are combined, and when the 2nd art was put in, the credits were left out. Or maybe its just odd. If you got the credits text the 1st time, then I say this is case closed until someone tests it on hardware. Thanks for your tenacity in studying this though.

No wait, let me clarify. The first time I beat the game a long time ago, I got the correct set of credits background and text (the ones on my second post and second set of saves). Now, when I beat the game yesterday using someone else's 100% complete save, I got that second set of background art, but no credits text (the ones on my first post and first set of saves). I had no knowledge one could beat the game a 2nd time and get a second set of art during the credits and since I originally finished the game so long ago, I just assumed there was a bug since the Text didn't show up. After I realized that there are two sets of credits sequences, I wanted to test if the "bug" happened on both endings, so I found a save before finishing the game the 1st time, I got the credit sequence I remembered and the text was properly there too. So, what needs to be figured out now is if the credits in the second ending are supposed to be missing on real hardware or if it's something happening on a lot of emulators (I tested Bizhawk, PSXfin, PSXjin).

You didnt need to clarify. It's in agreement with what I said. It's highly unlikely to be wrong in all 3 of those emulators. It must be right. The same game engine will be used to display the credits with BG art, so it would be broken for both sets of BG art if it was broken at all. But it isn't broken, the programmers just left out the text for the 2nd set of BG art.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, it seems as though mapping "Autofire" in hotkeys in v1.11.0 merely creates a second mapping for "Autohold."

In Final Fantasy IX, recording a movie from Power-On works fine, but recording from Now, sometimes works fine, sometimes Softlock on the screen transition, sometimes Softlock right away.

Your cue is nonsense. Open it in notepad and look. It references a nonexistent .bin file. I'll be fixing this to give a better error message, anyway

Your dump is bad. I have it too. It appears to have been patched, from what I can see, but that's just a guess. As always, when a disc-based game doesnt work, find another dump. I apologize that Monster Rancher 2 showed up with a green checkmark suggesting it's a good dump... but you can check this in the future yourself by reading the checkmark's status report and then hashing your disc with the PSX menu.

That means the savestate contained in the movie file should be broken. If you load it outside the context of a movie (you can unzip the movie file and get the savestate out of it) it should do the same thing the movie does.

No, I don't think problem at rom or firmwares, because it's work fine on psxjinv2.0.2 http://i.imgur.com/gVf3hc1.png

Sorry but PSXjin is a very broken emulator, the dump you have could be modified to work on PSXjin (and family, such as PCSX), and break horribly when the emulator DOES STUFF RIGHT. Check the disc hash, and compare it with redump like suggested.

Play movie works fine for me on windows 10. Why dont you let the experts decide what the problem is by giving them the evidence. Regarding Monster Rancher 2, I've done further research and it was the EXE that was patched. I had a tentative plan to incorporate the contents of the EXE into the disc ID and if I'd done it, it would have caught this. But I was waiting for evidence. I'm gonna wait a while more and see how pervasive this kind of thing is.

temporarily remove all your movie files and see if it still happens. If that fixes it, re-add them one by one until you find which one causes it. The play movie dialog is heavy duty, but it doesnt do anything that should depend much on your OS configuration

yes, your way help fix it but without remove any, it work fine on my Windows 7 x64 (my PC have 2 windows). That's why I think it's by Net Framework 4.5 on Windows 10

Think whatever you want, it's useless without evidence. So, if you put ONLY the offending movie in your movies directory, you can make it crash? If so, then post that movie file somewhere so we can debug it.
