I thought there was a thread for this already... oh well.
This half-ass Mario clone is actually pretty good, I enjoyed it so far, I can't seem to think a TAS could be nice, with that i mean i want a TAS guys.
From what I played so far, a bunch of corner boosting can be abused, as well as other things like the jumping is faster than just falling stuff in Megaman.
Of course it has it's unique stuff like the bubblegum bubble and the soda bottles, so far there's no run button in this game unfortunately.
I'll take this when I'm done with my other stuff.
So I finished level 1-4 and then I noticed that you can skip the intro stage by pausing the map and going to the first level right away, saves some seconds... I feel dumb.
I also discovered a glitch that lets you use the bubblegum and cola items at the start of any level (2 frame window), will save a lot of time in later levels, specially the vertical based ones. Will need to redo the first stage for the fifth time.
WELP
is time lost collecting jewels in the stage endscreen or not?
TAS i'm interested:
Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS?
i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.
I messed up somewhere. There's a major oversight in W1-5 where you can zip in that large space, where I actually do that in the original WIP from 2014 (For the record, this minizip saves about 1 or 2 frames, so it's not THAT major... i'm stupid). I guess I'll have to edit the input file... UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH
Fortunately, unlike every other DS game I've TASed, this one is very sync friendly, so it shouldn't be so hard... Also I'll check if I can jump over the fish faster in W1-9.

Done the 2nd world. Had to slowdown on one of the last levels since the fire kills you, so I had to jump above the blocks instead.
I got the power-up during the last few frames of the boss fight before the screen fades in. It's faster to get it that way since you need to slowdown to get the power-up and after that you have to wait for the morphing animation during regular stages.

This beats W3-1 really fast by using the glitch I mentioned sometime ago in the thread.
This glitch lets you use the bubblegum item in any level, even levels where you can't even get the item by normal means (like the level shown in the video). The bubblegum lets you fly anywhere in the level, and if you get hit by a wall, ceiling, floor or an enemy, you'll lose the item.
Quick demonstration:
Link to video
You perform the glitch when the level is loading, while you hold the touch screen at the place where you select the item, and you change the coordinates a little bit. Do it at the right frame while standing still and release the touch inputs. This glitch has been verified on console.
As you can see in the video, it saves tons of time on levels where you have to climb up to the top of the stage to reach the goal. It also saves time on stages where using the bubblegum is required, since you don't have to use the vending machines and slow down.
One last thing. I didn't mention the cola item, because when you do the glitch with said item, the game freezes... That's it.
Ok, I'm gonna be honest here for a sec... I don't want to TAS this game anymore. It's boring, tedious and too slow for me. I mean, it's the main reason why this is taking so long to finish... since 2014 in fact...
I want to move on for bigger and better and less time consuming projects and this quitting this one might help me on that.
If anybody picks this up, there's a couple of things I want to mention:
-Try to do as many minizips as possible. These are very simple to do. Just jump to the edge of blocks or platforms or ceilings. Saves about a frame or two, and it builds up as you go through the game.
-You can do a minizip in World 1-5 at the very beggining.
-The world 3 boss could be faster.
-Remember the item glitch, and the levels where it could potentially save time.
Thank you.
