I just stumbled across this page by chance while browsing the wiki, and while I realize it's an old page that probably gets viewed once in a blue moon, I feel I can improve significantly on the translation and clear things up in a couple spots. Unfortunately the page doesn't seem to be editable, so I'll post it here in case any staff member wants to update the page:
An advertisement of Tetris Death Mode Clear from Arika was pasted to the 2chan thread about Mario together with Hihati's no-miss movie.
I'd translate this as: "In the 2ch thread, together with Mario, a Hibachi no-miss movie and Arika's Tetris Death Mode Clear advertisement were posted." 緋蜂 is Hibachi, the true final boss of DoDonPachi DaiOuJou, a famously difficult shmup. Even getting to Hibachi is quite the accomplishment in itself, much less a no-miss against it. "No-miss" is actually Japanese shmup lingo for "never getting hit", I think it comes from a corruption of an abbreviation for "no-mistake" but I'm not sure. And Tetris Death Mode is referring to T.A. Death Mode in Arika's Tetris: The Grand Master 2 PLUS. At the time, it was widely considered to be by a country mile the hardest Tetris game ever commercially produced (although it would later be outdone by Tetris: The Grand Master 3 in 2005, which holds that distinction to this day).
I can clear death mode. Saying like this, it's the master Gm of the way of the splendid beginning and such. (?)
I'm not entirely sure if I've gotten this right, but my interpretation is: "It's not like I said I can clear Death Mode, or that I was able to get Master Gm very quickly or something." Note that the "I" in "I can clear Death Mode" is "オレ", which (a) the author doesn't use anywhere else to refer to himself, and (b) generally comes off as overflowing with self-confidence. "Master Gm" refers to the Grandmaster rank in TGM2's Master Mode, also an incredibly tough feat to accomplish, probably even harder than clearing Death Mode.
... He is also second clearing resourceful gamer in Peaceful Death, and the no-miss of Hihati received and, to tell the truth, produced his request.
I'd translate this as: "And also the resourceful gamer who can clear the 2nd Loop of DaiOuJou, he actually recorded the Hibachi no-miss in response to a request." 大往生 is "DaiOuJou", short for DoDonPachi DaiOuJou. The subtitle literally translates to "peaceful death". 2周目 is official term for the 2nd Loop of DaiOuJou -- normally the game ends after the regular final boss, but if you've done extremely well up to that point, you go into the 2nd Loop, carrying over your remaining lives, score, etc. and starting over from the first stage, but with enemies' firepower drastically increased. Make it to the end of the 2nd Loop and you fight Hibachi after the final boss.

You only carry your remaining lives over in Dodonpachi DaiOuJou Black Label. In Dodonpachi DaiOuJou (non black label, fan-nicknamed 'white label' to distinguish it) your lives get reset when you enter the second loop, and you earn them again by playing well. (Pretty much every other shmup's second loop preserves your lives. This is the only one I can think of to do something like this.) (I also don't know how to tell if a DaiOuJou clip is black label or not just from seeing the last stage.)

The Wiki page linked to web archive showing what the page with the interview(?) looked like: http://web.archive.org/web/20040403201057/http://soramimi.egoism.jp/emu.htm The way the page is colored and structured, it appears as if there was more than one person involved in the production of the movie (Morimoto the TASer + someone who encoded it). Assuming so, Morimoto's comments are in red and the other person's comments are in white.

of which what you quoted was the last two lines. I find that those are very difficult for me to understand but are absolutely crucial to the context of the passage, to the point where I cannot tell if Morimoto (assuming he wrote this) is praising someone, or criticizing someone, or if he is actually part of the "Tetris group" and how much qualification he has in that regard, or if he is being sarcastic, or... (you get it). I am not a Japanese person. Most of everything else on that page is straightforward.

Maybe if a link to this thread is put in the Japanese forum section, real Japanese people will easily resolve this?
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Sorry for not posting here sooner. Here are the translations I have so far. Some parts may still need a bit of tweaking.
The basic explanation. First of all, the FAQ.

Did you cheat?

Yes, I cheated. I slowed the emulator down to 1/30 of a second.
I made the movie by repeatedly saving and loading during recording.
Like this: Save before a dangerous place. If something goes wrong, then just reload.
For those that merely thought "If I am good at this game, I can eventually play just like that",
and had their dream shattered, I am very sorry about that.
I should have written this beforehand.

In the whirlpool zones of World 8, how come you are not grabbed by the hands?

I choose the frames on which the hands don't come out, to avoid them.

In 1-3, you don't go through the back of the white block, and yet you enter the flute house?

When pressing diagonally down, you can still go through the back. Furthermore, since Mario
is moving, then at the moment you enter the white block directly below, he is fully running.
If you look carefully, I go through the back of the white block on the very edge.

Why does the timer speed up or slow down?

When the screen scrolls, the game starts to lag. It is especially severe during P-dash.

In Tank 1, didn't you get hit by a wrench right before the ? block.

By looking at the movie recording, I can now understand how you see it.
It looks suspicious, but I did not get hit. It is a miracle that I did not get hit.

In Tank 2, didn't you get hit near the edge of the screen by a cannonball?
Same explanation as above. It is how the game works that I did not get hit.
I don't fully understand, but at the edge, Mario's hit detection disappears.

Bowser dies by fireball?
Boom Boom can be defeated by 5 fireballs, and Bowser by 35.

In 8-1, you take a mushroom on the panel?
As one would have guessed, I don't get a star in order to avoid 5UP.

At the end of 8-Castle, is it faster to go through the wall?
Since it was faster not to go through the wall, I chose this route.

Speaking of which, because I wanted to try some recent freeware (such as Windows Media Encoder and TMPEGenc),
this movie was finished and announced.
To those who thought it was played by hand, I'm very sorry.
Moreover, even if it took an emulator to pursue it, I earnestly desired to see an
perfect Mario play.
Please understand that this is why I started the project.
In the end, I'm very sorry.

Project maker's afterword

I remember from before.
Reading it as a third party, I think it may be rather interesting.
It may be rather boastful, but since this chance is very rare, then I'll speak rather frankly, as if it were sarcasm.

On a 2ch thread, an ad for an Arika Tetris Death Mode Clear, along with a Hibachi No-Miss Movie was posted.
At times, statements like below can be seen. Since the log did not remain, I only remember vaguely.

>>Because of rerecording, Mario wasn't all that great.
The Death Mode Clear is so much more of worth.

I would know if I was in his group.
"I can clear death mode!"
or rather, "he is a quite early master GM".
Just about everybody who plays Tetris is an acquaintance, and knows this Death Movie player.
And so, as the master gamer who cleared DaiOuJou 2nd Loop, he received a request to do Hibachi No Miss,
and actually did it.

If you think about it, the world is small.
By the way, it is correct to say that clearing Death Mode is more difficult than making Mario.
It took me two years. It is easy to make emulator movies. It just takes time.

That is his impression.
