Tested live with TheAxeMan. The method he has for FF sync works. Final Fantasy syncs on console, so long as it is an empty cart and sometimes even with console fresh from power off memory (all typically 0) as opposed to the 00/FF pattern in FCEUX. And without an empty cart, the movie will need to be set up to sync state, but if it does that then it will sync (as seen with TheAxeMan's script). So yeah, this is doable. If it won't be live, then once a run is complete, I can do a video of the whole process.

Thanks for running this, true! Using lua, I've tested all 256 initial values for that rng and my script syncs for all of them. I'll finish up this version of the run for console verification whether or not it's part of AGDQ.

After this added explanation, and hearing that it works (though I still fear that 70 minutes is rather long for a run to sync under xGDQ conditions), this actually sounds pretty awesome. Looking forward to video footage, either way.

That was the name for AGDQ 2014 as the runner name. After that, everywhere it was noted as TAS Bot (youtube, the news, twitch chat, reddit etc). Also note that tom7's playfun which demonstrated at April 2013 also called as tasbot in the trunk (a bot that learns through playing and watching memory) Probably that's why everyone refer to "TASbot" or platform+bot to devices that either replay or play a game on it's own. You must have replied to the wrong thing, because my reply there was in response to someone telling me that my bot is not reliable enough, and not expressing why. Nothing ever came of it, as expected. I don't know what your response has to do with this now that hasn't already otherwise been discussed in this short thread.

Dont know how the "tasbot" works and if can control more than one player. If it can control the 2 control ports, making a multitas where it is able to win the game on one console with the second player inputs and win a different game one another with play one input only, would be cool. Obviously the second contrl port game must be a game you are able to start and win by using only second port.

My latest bot supports as many players as can fit with the inputs I have. In practice, this will mean 4 controllers for N64, 8 (multiplexed) controllers for SNES, ... However, different consoles have different clock skew, so even if turned on at exactly the same time, will drift. Why not just use multiple bots then? Well, yeah, multiple bots would be used in that case.

ok. This multitas can even be made with a single game. If we imagine n64, you can have a game where the tas can beat the game while: Using only first player input. Using second only. Using third only Fourth only. First and second only and this goes on. giving 15 different ways to beat the game. holy fuck.
