Such a run would give an entirely new meaning to "Hyper Sonic"...

How so? The first encoding was released 4 hours ago already. The encoding of the newer version which will be better quality (but takes LOTS more time to encode) has been running for 4 hours now and will take another 4 hours (by which time I'm already hopefully sleeping, so it will be until tomorrow).

Wow sprintgod. All I have to say about this run is holy crap. This run is INSANE! I swear the more people do speed runs the more ridiculous they become. This speedrun is definately something everyone should check out.

what was the emeralds? If I remember those things corrrectly, when u take them you turn into yellow (?) sonic and run faster? If so then someone really should give that a try.

That's my plan. I doubt i'll get it out before anyone else has though, and i doubt it'll be anywhere near as fast as this one... I'm giving it a try though. Not only does sonic turn yellow and run faster, but he's invincible, jumps higher, faster acceleration rate, better ending on s&k.

SprintGod you have to excuse me for throwing up but this one was one of those sick runs. Now dear, since you obviously rule sonic why not try to make a run collecting emeralds and maybe perhaps after that going on with sonic 1 & 2 etc... Hail SprintGod! :)

A message to bisqwit. I personally want to thank you for the trouble you went trough to code this file. And I sincerly hope you will continue in the future code big file like this (because its thruely is worth it) and perhaps its what we "enjoyers" can expect from a admin like you. Also I very good notation is that I know the file still looks still a little blurry BUT when I switched it to my tv (thus your comp must have tv-out option) the file looked 90% very clean so for people like me it was a clean avi.

I didn't really ever plan on actually posting here when I registered, but there's no way I can't comment on this run. Unbelievable video, amazing job. My jaw dropped with frightening regularity :D

SprintGod, I know it's been a while, but can you tell me how you did the Hydrocity Act 1 Boss? I've tried many times but I can never seem to get the offscreen part right.

Discontent with the available AVI, I decided to use the GMV to create my own through Camtasia. Camtasia's TSCC codec allows capture to be lossless at 15FPS; however it does produce a file size near 600MB (over twice as big as the torrent AVI). If anyone wants, I'll clip out sections of my AVI, if anyone wants to preserve one or two levels in high quality. Leave your requests. Short levels like Icecap 2 and Carnival Night 1 will be around 7MB; Lava Reef 2 would take closer to 24MB. Unlike the gmv file which pauses at the 8th hit of Eggman's Escape Pod in Death Egg 2, my video lasts until the end of the credits. I've compiled full stats on the run, made possible by watching each level no less than 3 times for details: Overall Realtime 53:28.26 Level Clock Total Time 38:06 (if you count the fractional seconds which aren't displayed, it adds to 38:17.63) Jumps 1049 (note that 34 of those 1049 were done while the game clock wasn't running, such as jumping to hit a floating Egg Prison) Spindashes 493 (18 while clock wasn't running) Rolls 49 Sonic has no shield for 8:33.36 of game time, and performs 66 "Insta-Shield" SSTs (12 of them while the clock wasn't running, thanks to Hidden Palace) Sonic has a Water Shield for 4:49.10 of game time, and performs 48 "Bubble Bounce" SSTs (2 while the clock wasn't running) Sonic has a Flame Shield for 14:07.56 of game time, and performs 258 "Fireball Dash" SSTs (1 while the clock wasn't running) Sonic has a Lightning Shield for 10:48.20 of game time, and performs 93 "Spark Jump" SSTs (2 while the clock wasn't running) Are there any other stats which could possibly be of use? Because I'll compile those, too.

I don't mean to diminish your effort, and I know I certainly waste as much of my time on useless, trivial pursuits as the next guy, but what made you think any of those compiled statistics would be useful in the first place?

That's a Gens problem, not a problem with the .gmv. Make sure you have the latest version.

As far as the high-quality video stuff goes, you should definitely keep a copy of the Flying Battery 2 fun-ness. Especially for the part after the laser beam "boss" up to the real boss.

The pause problem is known and fixed in later version of Gens Movie

With upcoming Gens Movie TEST9b (or with current TEST9a with some special directives), you could have encoded with camtasia at 60fps (or with any other codec). PM me for more info.

For a run through of the Sonic 3 competition maps, would you like to see:
    · Glitch or nonglitch or both? · Each character or just the fastest character on each map?

I'd personally like to see both glitch and nonglitch runs, but only with the fastest character. I don't see the need to do it with each character since most runs will be essentially the same with each. edit: Thought about it a little more and just doing glitch runs would probably be more entertaining.

Glitch and fastest character. But most of all I'd like to see a Sonic 1 run. *whine whine*

Here's a movie I made about a week ago while messing around: http://www.geocities.com/xebranick/xebra-s3comp.zip . Please note this was made with Sonic 3 (U), not S3&K. It's a 15"73 on Azure Lake with Sonic, and also the first lap of Azure Lake with Knuckles in 2"81, highlighting the essential strategy that will make a sub 14 second run possible. Since I appear to be the laziest and least motivated person on the planet, I figured I'd get this vid out there for anyone that was actually interested in completing a run through of all the competition maps. Additionally, I have, without a doubt, the most intimate knowledge of those five competition maps of anyone in existence. If someone wants to work on a video, it will not be difficult for me to critique your handiwork and help you attain absolute perfection.

I'm trying to do a Sonic 3 And Knuckles speed run, using Hyper Sonic from the start. Here's the gmv. And since it starts as Hyper Sonic you'll need this save state. I'm going for quickest time, but have to first get 50 rings. I'm currently up to Marble Garden Zone. I've watched SpeedGod's run over and over and following his path is almost impossible for me! What can I do better, what things should I NOT be doing? I've also hit a snag, the Marble Garden Zone 2 boss... He drills the ground, and I fall, and Tails is meant to catch me... But he doesn't! I fall and die and start at the last lamppost??
