Obviously, the site is back up again. The problem that caused the site to be unavailable for 6 days, is mostly yet undetermined. Part of that problem was the ADSL modem crashing when it was remotely logged on to, and it had to be manually rebooted in person - which couldn't be done until Bisqwit returned home from his vacation.

Yarr, nice to be back here. Let's hope the people who don't frequent IRC get back soon as well.

These things happen, unexplained downtime happens to most sites out there, but thankfully nothing was lost in this case. Besides, I'm sure we all could have used a break. Right? Right?

It's too bad that a bajillion people won't notice that the site is back up for a few more days. Anyways, glad to see nesvideos is still alive. :)

OFF TOPIC: You know what makes me angry? The newest Star Ocean game. It's called "Till the End of Time". Of course, they meant to call it " 'Til the End of Time", because we all know that till is a verb analagous with farming, whereas 'til is the shortened version of until. I got kicked out of an EB Games in San Marcos for "making a scene" about it. Also, I am the kind of person that gets really really really upset whenever someone uses an apostrophe to connote pluralisation. This is especially aggravating when someone assumes that just because you are using an acronym, you are free to butcher grammar. Oh, and people that spell grammar as 'grammer', especially when insulting someone else for making grammar errors. OK, I'm done now. Yay nesvideos +10

Y'know what bugs ME about the latest Star Ocean game? The entire plot in the second Disc. (Though I gotta admit, I never noticed the little title error before. That's funny.)

"Till" is an accepted word to mean "until". "'Til" isn't really even a word.

Till is a verb. Anyone that considers it a substitute for anything else is lazy and should be beaten. kreig: shouldnt you be getting told to get out of fyad?

Zurreco: Does that include the makers of Merriam-Websters?

Even my French-English dictionary knows that word:
Larousse wrote:
till [t?l] preposition French: jusqu'à Example: from six till ten o'clock -- French: de six heures à dix heures conjunction French: jusqu'à ce que (+ subjunctive) Example: wait till I come back -- French: attends que je revienne; (after negative) avant que (+ subjunctive) Example: it won't be ready till tomorrow -- French: ça ne sera pas prêt avant demain noun French: tiroir-caisse Source: Dictionnaire compact français/anglais, anglais/français. © Larousse, 1998.
For the last one, I think it's the "drawer" in which the cash is held in a cashing machine. (This is probably not said correctly ... I'll blame the fact that I'm a French Canadian for this) Edit: Weird thing is that it doesn't list "till" as a verb, which is what Zurreco says... That's probably a mistake from that dictionary.

I'm on the "till = verb, 'til = preposition" side.

Truncated: Merriam-Webster isn't the definitive source of goods when it comes to the english lexicon. You can find terms like "bootylicious" in the MW dictionary, since they add one new slang term into their books every year or so. Anyways, till as a preposition is as reliable as the words ain't or y'all; they exist, and they sure are used a lot, but that doesn't make them real words. If one thing should never falter under the strains of societal influence, our languages shouldn't be bastardized for lazy people.

It is a misconception that till emerged as a short form of until. The word till is actually older than until. They both came into usage around 800 years ago, but till came first. Additionally, the usage 'till came in the 1700s. If there is any complaint, it should be about 'til, which is the most modern form of the word.

If you really want to be picky like that Zurreco, then quit saying "anyways." "Anyways" is the colloquial form of "anyway." That's personally one thing that bugs me regarding grammar, akin to how you dislike people using apostrophes to create plural forms of words. I also don't like it when people mix up then/than or their/there/they're or to/too/two or your/you're, which happen all too much unfortunately.
