I think the only reason this skip is possible is because we can control the character while scripted thing is happening (i.e. Barry is walking), and by going into item screen at the same frame as the script-function is called, we can prevent this call. I can't remember any other similar setup in the game, all other cutscenes just start and you immediately lose control of the character. Or is there any similar situation in the game, where some scripted things are happening while you're able to move?
when you say director's cut, its japanesse or usa version ? the cd ID is usually simpler way to identify (SLUS ect...)
It's a US version, SLUS00747.

Lets be more specific, a cutscene start as soon as the room load, it end, you get back control and can move around then another one start (and you skip it). To me this sound a lot like barry behind the door in the guardhouse, barry giving the acid rounds, or even wesker dialog(s). Now yeah if its a timed event, maybe thats the real difference.

Ya, I think there's a lot of CS where you could press start before they happen. So it's just pressing start on an exact frame? Just a get a LUA script to try them all.

Bump. I'm having a problem getting savestates to work properly for this game in any emulator (not just psxjin). If I close and re-open the graphics plugin, then menu skins (and options) disappear. If I reload a savestate, then all 3D models disappear, the menu skins disappear, and only the prerendered backgrounds show. When I use the Resident Evil 2/3 fix on psxjin, the game slows to a crawl. How do you guys configure the emulator for this game?

My Knife Only All Clear No Damage TAS of Advanced/Arrange Mode with Chris: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6OmEyloKyk I did not submit it because I went back to reedit my two boss fights against the Yawn since I was not satisfied by it. This resulted in 3 different files (plus an extra one to synchronize the gained time against the Yawn so the final timer reflected my actual progress) and not one continuous file. This run is also not a conventional speedrun - I do not aim to get the best time possible and I do not use frame advance; there's room for improvement if one were so inclined to do it. Carcinogen, I did not config anything. I have no idea why you'd have to. The problem with reloading the savestate is that you might be trying to do so before recording a movie. Don't. If you can, make a movie displaying what the problem is because I think I had the same problem until some members helped me to figure out the problem.

Carcinogen: Did you use hotkeys or the file-menu to save & load states? Using the file menu can cause huge problems. I had one game soft-lock if I used the file-menu but work fine if I used hotkeys.
