Man this took me hours to finish hehe. But here is my list of suggestions and ideas. There are probably more tricks and glitches to discover in this game but I probably estimate that if 90% of my suggestions is to your benefit, you could probably save at least, near a minute from Kopernicals current run. Here is my note: >Gemini Man Level< At: 00:21 - Couldn't you jumped over that penguin? 00:55 - Why aren't you jumping and then going up on the ladder? 01:05 - I'll bet if you really slide very fast here, you can probably skip hitting this flying bug. 01:10 - Haven't we all reached to the conclusion that if megaman jumps before going down on a hole, he goes down faster? 01:12 - Same thing here, Jump before goind down in the hole. 01:40 - Maybe if you used Rush Jump (or whatever that dog's name is ^_^) ) while going up on the ladder, you could perhaps avoided getting hit by that big machine and saving time. 01:53 - I got the impression that you hesitated for a bit here, could you have also improved your battle if you stood a bit closer to him? I was thinking of your fights against ProtoMan, similar to that, that was excellent (against ProtoMan), you stood as close as you could so try that method with Gemini Man. >Snake Man Level< At: 04:21 - Instead of just sliding down, couldn't you done a half-slide and then jumped over that enemy? You should be able to do it, since you've got a big height. 04:42 - Jump down, instead of sliding. 04:45 - Same thing here, jump down. 04:52 - here I had an idea. What if you used Rush Jump so that, for the reason nr 1: You could skip going up on the ladder all the way, 2: At 04:56, using here RUsh Jump so you could jump over that enemy, at: 05:02 - using same idea here, use Rush Jump to jump over him. 05:19 - I was thinking that maybe you could've used Rush Jet at this point and pressing upwards so you could maybe save 1-2 seconds here? :) I should work even though those enemies jump very high you could then maybe just also jump to avoid them. 05:37 - Here comes a big question about lag. Now if you hit them, aren't you slowing down yourself? If so, you can basically savy a few seconds here, so DONT hit those enemies. 05:40 - Same thing here, avoid hitting them. 05:42 - Same thing here, avoid hitting them, also why didn't you simply go up a bit in order to skip hitting them? 05:48 - Im sure you could've done a bit better here. Possibly jumping over them with cautious precisness might do the trick.. 05:57 - What are you waiting and standing still for? It seems that you could've delivered maybe 1-2 extra shots standing there and thus saving time. >Magnet Man Level< At: 06:54 - Excellent fight but could've you stood maybe 1-2 frames closer to ProtoMan? 'Cause I can see a tiny gap between your armor and him :) 07:10 - Jump from here to the hole, I assume you could save a few frames here, my suggestion should be beneficial here. 07:34 - Is it possible using Rush Jet on that tiny gap so you could jump on Rush and then climbing on the ladder? 07:54 to 08:02 - Too big gap between you and Magnet Man, ProtoMan battle is the perfect example here (if its possible). >Hard Man Level< At: 08:49 - I don't think that hit was necessary, on the contrary, I think if you kept sliding you could've avoided that hit and saving some frames here. 08:53 - I Think you could've used Rush Jump already here in order to "almost" skip climbing the ladder instead of using Rush Jump THERE at the next scenario, so should be able to use Rush Jump here at 08:49 and continue using him. 09:11 - You should definitely use Rush Jump here, you can most definitely save a second here. 09:35 - Same process here, use definitely Rush Jump, save another second here. 09:53 - Nice battle as always with against ProtoMan. But at 09:53, jump down in the hole, since I stated before, that it seems that MegaMan goes faster downwards if he jumps in the hole. 10:09 - Your battle against Hard Man seems very good except for one thing, that hit shouldn't be necessary and should be avoided - saving 2-3 frames. >Top Man level< This level seems very well executed but with a few minor questions. Could you have sticked with one strong armor instead of changing your armor? And your battle against TopMan was great I suppose. I assume that you intentionally got hit by him to prevent him from doing something... Now as he moves to the left, could you have saved a couple of frames if you shot a bit earlier your Hard Knuckle? >Shadow Man Level< At: 12:43 - OH man how I love this levels music (probably the best music-level in a megaman game ^_^), anyway, at the very beginning, you could've jumped in order to get faster downwards, so jump here and don't slide. 12:47 - Same thing here, jump instead of sliding. 12:52 - Same thing here, jump instead of sliding :) 12:59 - I think there is a tiny gap between you and Protoman that you can fix. A 1-2 frames could be minimized here. 13:06 - You could've certainly jumped over him and skiping hitting him. 13;07 - Same thing here? 13:08 - Same thing here? 13:13 - Same thing here? 13:21 - As always, jump downwards. 13:34 - I think you jumped a bit to high here. A "middle jump" would've reduced a couple of frames here. * Shadow Man fight excellent but should've avoided that one hit from him (if its possible) >Spark Man level< At: 14:29 - Could you have used Rush Jump here and the above ladder to almost avoid climing on them? And also using Rush Jump here at 14:42, also if you decided to use Rush Jump at 14:29, there are many places to use him, for instance at 14:47 and maybe 14:50 - to be able to jump at the second spot, using Rush Jump at 14:56 would be very efficient and would probably save a near second here, 15:00 use Rush Jump also here. So you see, there are many places to save time and frames by using Rush Jump. 15:08 - Jump downwards as told earlier. 15:43 - Now is it possible to stand as near as ProtoMan, at SparkMan? If so, frames could be saved here. At: 16:28 - This is another "middle" time saver I've thought of. If you would use already here Magnet Beam, you would most probably avoid lag, save time and frames, right? :) 16:51 - Jump downwards. 17:03 - Now here I was thinking of a tiny shortcut. Is there no armor where you can shoot the direction you want? Ah yes, Shadow Man's armor hehe. In this case, right where you land so you don't have to go around these bubbles :) Here you can save a few seconds yes!!!! 17:06 - No need to shoot this first bubble right? maybe 1 fram could be saved here. 17:52 - Nothing to notice here except maybe if you even would shoot a bit faster your regular armor you could've hit your underwater enemies faster and avoiding less lag. 18:50 - Jump downwards here. 19:48 - Until Boss battle - Now here is alot of lag, maybe unnecessary hits etc.. My question here is: Maybe you could've saved SECONDS here if you for instance either moved Rush Jet dynamically or simply jumping dynamically instead of shooting them, thus creating lag. 21.18 - Jump downwards here. 21.20 - Same thing here. 21:23 - Same thing here. 21:33 - Same thing here :). 21:42 - Don't hit that enemy that explodes. Skip, hitting him and hence you will avoid lag, just shoot that thingy which turn the lights on and jump over that exploiding rock enemy. 21:44 - Same thing here, you don't need to shoot him, jump over him 21:51 - Same thing here, I think you would probably make it jumping over him. 22:23 - Certainly no need to take that health refill :) Skipping that would probably save between 0,5-1 second. 22:38 - Now since you didn't use Magnet Beam afterwards you don't need to take those armor refills, Skipping those would probably save near 0,5 second, due to minor lag when getting them. 23:00 - Was these taking hits necessary? (probably, if probably not you could've saved seconds here). 24:15 - Should be possible to jump here in order to get faster downwards. 24:38 - Now since you've picked Magnet Beam as your current armor, you should use it to your advantage and shoot those big rocks, timesaver here. 26:03 - Jump here so you can get downwards faster. 26:20 - Wrong method here. Take a brief jump on the edge back to the ladder to get faster up to the surface. 26:45 - As always, jump in order to faster get down. 27:38 - Avoid getting that armor refill, avoiding it would save a few frames and 0,x seconds. 25:50 - Possible to jump in order to get down faster? 28:53 - Same thing here, but here you can obviously jump to get down faster. 29:03 - I'll bet with some experimentation or with luck manipulation get to that flying rock/surface in order to faster reach the ladder, if so, 1-1,5 second can be saved here. 29:30 - Jump to get down faster. 29:56 - Jump to get down faster. 30:11 - Wouldn't be smarter to simply doing all the right bosses and then heading towards the left bosses? It seems a waste of time to first doing topp right boss and then heading for topp left boss. Last Edited: 27/06-2005 Time: 00:33 A.M. P.S: So Vatchern, you still think his time is perfect and unbeatable? ^_^

I commented on a few of AngerFist's comments. Overall, good work on analyzing the movie through! > 00:21 - Couldn't you jumped over that penguin? Sliding through is faster. > 00:55 - Why aren't you jumping and then going up on the ladder? Yup, mentioned before. > 01:05 - I'll bet if you really slide very fast here, you can probably skip hitting this flying bug. I'm quite sure he tried that. Either that, or he shot it to avoid lag later. > 01:10 - Haven't we all reached to the conclusion that if megaman jumps before going down on a hole, he goes down faster? > 01:12 - Same thing here, Jump before goind down in the hole. > 04:42 - Jump down, instead of sliding. > 04:45 - Same thing here, jump down. > 07:10 - Jump from here to the hole, I assume you could save a few frames here, my suggestion should be beneficial here. > 09:53, jump down in the hole, since I stated before, that it seems that MegaMan goes faster downwards if he jumps in the hole. > 12:43 - at the very beginning, you could've jumped in order to get faster downwards, so jump here and don't slide. > 12:47 - Same thing here, jump instead of sliding. > 12:52 - Same thing here, jump instead of sliding :) > 13:21 - As always, jump downwards. > 15:08 - Jump downwards as told earlier. > 16:51 - Jump downwards. > 18:50 - Jump downwards here. > 21.18 - Jump downwards here. > 21.20 - Same thing here. > 21:23 - Same thing here. > 21:33 - Same thing here :). > 26:03 - Jump here so you can get downwards faster. > 25:50 - Possible to jump in order to get down faster? > 26:45 - As always, jump in order to faster get down. > 29:30 - Jump to get down faster. > 29:56 - Jump to get down faster. > 28:53 - Same thing here, but here you can obviously jump to get down faster. Considerable, but please weigh that it takes time to switch weapons, and that in RC mode, Rockman can only shoot 2 shots at time (instead of the normal 3). This means that the giant snake, for example, is destroyed slower. > 05:19 - I was thinking that maybe you could've used Rush Jet at this point and pressing upwards so you could maybe save 1-2 seconds here? :) I think he didn't have problem ascending. He called RJ as late as possible to conserve energy and lag. Calling RJ earlier would have benefited nothing. Also, sliding is faster than RJ. (And Rockman can't slide on RJ, despite being able to slide on an arrow in MM5.) > 05:37 - Here comes a big question about lag. Now if you hit them, aren't you slowing down yourself? 13:06 - You could've certainly jumped over him and skiping hitting him. > 13;07 - Same thing here? > 13:08 - Same thing here? > 13:13 - Same thing here? I'll explain. At that stage (13:06), there is quite a significant lag, my suggestion is that if its possible to jump over that enemy who explodes when you hit him (= would cause more lag) then you should jump over him to avoid causing lag. Hope I explained well enough.

Yes, it's considered a cheat. This issue has been brought upon before... In unrelated news, the movie desynced here...

I know a way to get into the walls, only got it working in Snakeman's stage though. When you get to the giant snake, stand on the last segment of it and wait for the 2nd last segment to move higher. Then, slide to the left. When Megaman goes into his sliding animation, his arm will be inside the wall, which is enough to glitch him right through the snake. What's interesting is that in MM3, MM gets pushed upwards as well as to the side when he is in a wall. Something you can play around with I guess. It's easy enough for a human to do as well. Whoever is doing the next MM3 improvement should add that in.

Probably faster. But it would be faster still to do Topman before Shadowman.

Don't have the video, just going by memory. Might be remembering some stuff wrong. Bisqwit commented on some of them already. Also want to add that some of this stuff was addressed in my submission so maybe you should have checked that first. >01:05 - I'll bet if you really slide very fast here, you can probably skip hitting this flying bug. Yes. >01:40 - Maybe if you used Rush Jump (or whatever that dog's name is ^_^) ) while going up on the ladder, you could perhaps avoided getting hit by that big machine and saving time. I don't see how Rush is going to help you miss that thing. Besides, the hit knocks me the way i want to go so I think it is probably a bit faster. ProtoMan doesn't have that invulnerability (at least not easily noticeable) so there's no reason not to get as close to him as possible. But against the other bosses, hitting them as soon as they're vulnerable again is all that matters. >06:54 - Excellent fight but could've you stood maybe 1-2 frames closer to ProtoMan? 'Cause I can see a tiny gap between your armor and him :) Timewise, it doesn't really matter how close you are to him. There's a limit on how fast you can kill him. >10:09 - Your battle against Hard Man seems very good except for one thing, that hit shouldn't be necessary and should be avoided - saving 2-3 frames. Hasn't this been discussed before? When Hard Man does that ground pound attack it freezes Mega Man's movement for several seconds. Taking the hit is noticeably faster. >This level seems very well executed but with a few minor questions. Could you have sticked with one strong armor instead of changing your armor? Seeing as I run out of Magnet I either have to get a refill or change weapons. I decided to change weapons. >And your battle against TopMan was great I suppose. I assume that you intentionally got hit by him to prevent him from doing something... Now as he moves to the left, could you have saved a couple of frames if you shot a bit earlier your Hard Knuckle? I hit him as soon as he becomes vulnerable again. Any earlier and it would have just bounced off of him. >12:59 - I think there is a tiny gap between you and Protoman that you can fix. A 1-2 frames could be minimized here. Again, you only can kill him so fast. >* Shadow Man fight excellent but should've avoided that one hit from him (if its possible) Not if you want to hit him twice with one spin. >14:29 - Could you have used Rush Jump here and the above ladder to almost avoid climing on them? And also using Rush Jump here at 14:42, also if you decided to use Rush Jump at 14:29, there are many places to use him, for instance at 14:47 and maybe 14:50 - to be able to jump at the second spot, using Rush Jump at 14:56 would be very efficient and would probably save a near second here, 15:00 use Rush Jump also here. So you see, there are many places to save time and frames by using Rush Jump. I don't remember how big any of those ladders are but are you factoring in the time it takes to call Rush down? And the weapon switch? But it could be faster. >At: 16:28 - This is another "middle" time saver I've thought of. If you would use already here Magnet Beam, you would most probably avoid lag, save time and frames, right? :) You'd have to get several weapon refills if you want to do that entire screen with Magnet, but it might be faster. I'm not sure where exactly you mean here, but I don't see how Shadow would be faster to destroy the bubbles. You can only have one on the screen at a time versus 3 of Needle. Needle Man Rush Jet section? You guys are underestimating how much lag is cause by 1. jumping on rush jet and 2. by the enemies themselves. If you don't kill them they will cause a LOT of lag, much more than you see in the video as it is. On another note, I tried jumping on Rush and skipping one of the energy refills. It was 2 seconds slower. Maybe someone can do a better job of it than I did but jumping on Rush isn't going to be a huge time saver like a lot of you seem to think it is. >22:23 - Certainly no need to take that health refill :) Skipping that would probably save between 0,5-1 second. How do you suggest I skip it? Can't jump over it. >22:38 - Now since you didn't use Magnet Beam afterwards you don't need to take those armor refills, Skipping those would probably save near 0,5 second, due to minor lag when getting them. If this is the part I'm thinking of then yes I did use Magnet afterwards. So it's either take the refills or switch weapons. Timewise probably about the same. >23:00 - Was these taking hits necessary? (probably, if probably not you could've saved seconds here). Seeing as you have to be right next to him to hit him with Top Spin you're probably going to lose time if you try to avoid the hits. >24:38 - Now since you've picked Magnet Beam as your current armor, you should use it to your advantage and shoot those big rocks, timesaver here. I use the last of the energy to destroy the last one. If you want to destroy the rest of them you're going to have to get a weapon refill which might not save any time at all. >27:38 - Avoid getting that armor refill, avoiding it would save a few frames and 0,x seconds. Not sure which one you mean, but if I grabbed it then it was faster than not grabbing it. >30:11 - Wouldn't be smarter to simply doing all the right bosses and then heading towards the left bosses? It seems a waste of time to first doing topp right boss and then heading for topp left boss. There's probably a better way to do that, but not the way you're suggesting. >P.S: So Vatchern, you still think his time is perfect and unbeatable? ^_^ I know my movie is far from perfect but you don't have to be so condescending about it, especially when a lot of your ideas probably aren't even viable. I'm the one who took the time and effort to improve the movie in the first place, not just write down some suggestions.

Marine might help. But sliding is still faster and that might cancel out the lag. Something to try, though. With Rush Jet there is no way that first screen will be faster. Jet will lag the hell out of it.

You're not the first person to think of this route :-) At first I immediately discounted it but I think it's worth a try. You're going to lose time on Top, Shadow and Snake and gain a little on Gemini and Magnet. I believe that you're going to lose more but maybe someone can prove me wrong.

Theres a glitch to get the Rushjet after defeating shadow man.
Don't forget, though, that this glitch starts you out with zero energy in the Rush form you're not supposed to have, so you'd need to pick up a refill right away, and that probably wouldn't last long enough in most situations to be useful.

I haven't tested it in this game, but I know that starting with the third Game Boy game, you can save a frame by clearing a wall with your smallest jump rather than sliding straight over. It's worth trying, as well as different methods for propelling past the bottom corners of those walls as fast as possible. I was also wondering if you could use a jump to save time after beating ProtoMan. When he opens the barrier, you want to be falling through it at maximum speed, right? So could you take a jump ahead of time so you just barely avoid landing on the barrier and hit the screen transition earlier?

Seeing as I run out of Magnet I either have to get a refill or change weapons. I decided to change weapons.
It probably wouldn't hurt to test refilling the weapon instead if you haven't already. The menu is pretty slow in this game, isn't it? As for the route, I think I can see the reasoning behind the previous one--Magnet Missile is more useful to pick up than Top Spin; two bodies for GeminiMan means two targets, and as one body he doesn't move in tricky ways, so he's easy to hit rapidly--but I imagine there's a lot more in-level stuff to consider than I can think of right now, so feel free to try different plans.

Well its no good pointing out things when you are going by memory, is it?
kopernical wrote: I don't remember how big any of those ladders are but are you factoring in the time it takes to call Rush down? And the weapon switch? But it could be faster.
Im probably not BUT since if you would decide to call Rush, it would be highly efficient because there are many spots to use him. See for yourself.
kopernical wrote: I'm not sure where exactly you mean here, but I don't see how Shadow would be faster to destroy the bubbles. You can only have one on the screen at a time versus 3 of Needle.
Its quite simple. If this is possible, use Shadow Mans armor, jump at the exact spot you land on after coming down from the ladder, when you are in the air, press down so you can shoot the bubbles you are standing on, did I explain better now? Instead of going around the bubbles, use my method (as I said, if its even possible to do it).
kopernical wrote: You guys are underestimating how much lag is cause by 1. jumping on rush jet and 2. by the enemies themselves. If you don't kill them they will cause a LOT of lag, much more than you see in the video as it is.
I understand.
kopernical wrote: How do you suggest I skip it? Can't jump over it.
How about you do a slide and jump immediately to avoid it with precise accuracy, if it doesn't work, then disregard this suggestion.
kopernical wrote: If this is the part I'm thinking of then yes I did use Magnet afterwards. So it's either take the refills or switch weapons. Timewise probably about the same.
Wrong. You did switch armor for your boss battle.
kopernical wrote: I use the last of the energy to destroy the last one. If you want to destroy the rest of them you're going to have to get a weapon refill which might not save any time at all.
Thats not correct. You had plenty of armor (Magnet beam) left. Nearly half of it left, so you could've "pre-shot" them to slide without lag and it should've saved time.
kopernical wrote: Not sure which one you mean, but if I grabbed it then it was faster than not grabbing it.
Not sure if your point is correct. Because there is a "decent" space to jump on and then calling on Rush although Im quite sure of my suggestion, it should be further investigated.
kopernical wrote: There's probably a better way to do that, but not the way you're suggesting.
Could you please be so kind to explain why my suggestions is bad? I only think logical here, doing all right bosses and then doing the left bosses.
kopernical wrote: I know my movie is far from perfect but you don't have to be so condescending about it, especially when a lot of your ideas probably aren't even viable.
Condescending you say? If i offended you, then I apologize, ALTHOUGH could you please point out where on my suggestions I offended you or wrote you totally suck kopernical? So I don't quite understand why I am apologizing to you. On the contrary, this is all simply suggestions for improvements, not "decided" guidelines for you to improve. Almost all of my suggestions, I wrote: Could've, should've etc... These words are kind and constructive words/critique, not negative ones.

I can understand kopernical's reaction. AngerFist, I'm not saying you were rude, but you might have gone overboard with the "You could have", etc. While that doesn't sound rude in itself, it does easily get tedious and wearing in the type of post that effectively uses "the broken record" syndrome. (If you don't know, the expression "broken record" is applied when someone says the same phrase over and over.) Andreas

Andreas, have you read my entire post? because I dont think that I wear out the words could've and should've (even though yes I do sometimes write them a bit often). Those were only examples of words that I used to justify my constructive and kind suggestions. Others words that I used were: Why aren't you, I'll bet, Haven't we all, Same thing here, I got the impression, here I had an idea, shall I continue? I think I varied well enough with my words. Enough with this nonsense and lets continue with megaman3 discussions.

I didn't mean that I thought your suggestions or the way you gave them was condescending. It was pretty much just your last statement.

P.S: So Vatchern, you still think his time is perfect and unbeatable? ^_^
Is it really necessary to point this out when the same thing could be said about probably 99% of the videos on this site? How many times did people think SMB was perfect only to find out later that it could be improved. And that is only a 5 minute video. This is 6 1/2 times as long. And that smiley at the end just seems to say "look how easy this is going to be to beat." You just have to follow my suggestions, when there's much more to it than that. But I'm probably just overreacting. For that I apologize. And if I sounded abrupt in my replies I wasn't trying to. I was tired and I wanted to answer as simply as I could.
AngerFist wrote:

As many times as I watched this movie and played it, I probably have 75% of it memorized. For the stuff I commented on I didn't need to see it.

I just tried it and it won't work. 1. You can't shoot Shadow downward and 2. they just go through the bubbles anyway. Good idea, though.

I'm pretty sure I tried that so it probably won't work.

I switched to Top Spin which is all but useless against any enemies. And there is an enemy I have to get past on the very next screen.

Yeah, you're right there. I misremembered that.

This is second Wily right? If so I think I only refilled just a couple bars and waiting for Rush and jumping on him would surely be longer than that. But you're right, someone could try it.

Seeing as the exit is on the left side I'm guessing it would be faster to do the left side then the right so you don't have to backtrack. But you're right, I just repeated what Sleepz did without even thinking about it.

haha.. if i got time, i would do MM3 or MM4... I personally like MM3 :). Though i would have to print off all the suggestions Angerfist made, and try both routes, as in Topman first, and Geminiman first to see which actually would be quicker. If anyone wants to see this done quick(i know i do) i can spend time at it. Should also post this in MM3 i think.. :P

It needs experimentation... I'm afraid I can't help without trying it. I'll try to test it some day. :)

And how it works: Find a spot that looks like this:
####
....
##..
(# = wall, . = not wall) Slide through the tunnel. At the point where the road broadens (the ceiling must be on the same level), face left and take a hit. It allows Mega Man to zip through the wall for some length. This works in Mega Man 3, 4 and 5. Maybe in Mega Man 6 too.

Should it not also work in Megaman 1 and 2? BTW, excellent trick finalfighter. Edit: Is finalfighters trick faster than the current method? Again, it does not seem its faster.

No sliding in those games. But yes, it might allow getting some extra length for zipping in some circumstances :o Edit:

Well, of course it seems a bit slow because it's a proof of concept, a demonstration! It's not a timeattack video. But when applied properly in the context, yes, it's faster. Edit 2: See for yourself:
