Fastest Human Route: 1.Sword 2.L3 3.up+A 4.Gamble x1 5.Blue Candle 6.L4 7.HC 8.L1 9.White Sword 10.L5 11.up+A 12.HC 13.100 rupees 14.HC 15.L2 16.Whistle to 3 17.Arrows 18.Meat 19.L7 20.Magic Sword 21.L6 22.Whistle to 2 23.L8 24.Whistle to 1 25.L9 60 before candle, 140 before arrows. Might even be faster than the TAS route with HCs and MS added.

The triple verification will be finished any day now. Triple verification of what? I hate it when people do this! >:( Just tell us, did you or did you not beat the LoZ WR, and if you did, what was the time? If you did beat the WR, you better be sending a vid to SDA also and not just TG.

I though you were doing a TAS..

Sleepz, in that route you posted, why are you getting the arrows and bait just before level 7? You have to walk an extra 6 screens for that. Why not just get the bait before level 2, then get 100 rupees before level 7, then whistle to level 1, and get the arrows on the way to level 6?

AngerFist, this is the speedrun section, the route I posted is the fastest HUMAN route, and in the other post I mentioned I was speedrunning the game. The new TAS idea didn’t work out. Michael, yes, it’s a new WR. There’s also a slight chance that it might not be beaten.

You have to stop counting screens. You need to time the actual walkthroughs to see which one is faster: + (L7>Whistle to L1>Arrows>MS>L6) - (L7>Lost Woods>MS>L6) + (HC>100 rupees>HC>Meat>L2) - (HC>100 rupees>HC>L2) + 100 rupee near L7 detour - (Whistle to L3>Arrows>Meat>L7) - (Whistle to L3>L7) You’re losing time in 3 different places, and gaining time in only one. Just the path change from L7 to L6 alone puts you 35 seconds behind.

Michael, yes, it’s a new WR. There’s also a slight chance that it might not be beaten. This should be interesting. After his OoT speedrun, I think TSA is planning on doing LoZ next. So far, every time he's said he's gonna beat a WR he's kept his word. Will this be the first time he fails? How unbeatable is your time? Sub-33? Sub-32? You have to stop counting screens. But counting screens is fun! It's my hobby. Do you really want to take away my only joy in life? :( *starts crying* Anyway, more seriously, what about those extra 40 rupees you need to get that aren't from caves? Do you need to kill any more enemies than you would have or spend more time picking up the rupees? Btw, 35 seconds is quite a lot, I'd assume the difference would also be pretty big if you're not picking up the magical sword. Is it possible this route is also better for a TAS? (maybe I'm being forgetfull but I'm pretty sure the TAS whistles to 1 for level 6)

Well, it’s sub-33. I’m pretty sure no one has ever gotten that close before, so I’m guessing it’ll be insanely tough to beat. Sub-32? No one will ever get that. Probably not even < 32:20. As for the TAS route, it’s still the fastest by far. The MS and HC’s just ruin things, but are necessary for a human player. (L2>Whistle to L1>Arrows>L6) vs (L7>Whistle to L1>Arrows>MS>L6) vs (L7>Lost Woods>MS>L6)

Do'h :) Then I hope the current TAS for this game will be improved someday, by you or perhaps Phil.

Sleepz, are you ever gonna do another SMB3 speedrun to send to SDA? SDA does allow the Bowser's Castle shortcut where you go through the wall in case you didn't know already. I'm sure you wouldn't want someone to just do that shortcut to get a cheap win on you, and I think Angrewg (he got 5:09 in SMB) said on the TG forum that he was going to attempt an SMB3 speedrun eventually.

Really? I was planning out a sub-11 run without the shortcut and pushed it aside for LoZ. Did he mention what time he got in SMB3? If someone gets like under 11:20, I’ll do a new run.

Keyword "slight" ;) If I see this video, I believe at the bare minimum I can match it. I hope you intend to send it into SDA, though. Edit: After consulting with two others on this, there is an extremely risky option plausible for a human run that actually nobody has considered yet and it's being researched on emulator at the moment to verify it's worth it and doable. If it is plausible, whoever completes the run this way will never lose the title unless somebody pulls off that TAS. The route could yield 30 mins by my initial estimates. Either way, eliminating the extra HCs - which I assume you get the one from Level 4 -> Level 1 (along lakeside), the one on southern shore south of Level 2, and one South of Level 5 in desert, that's at least 10 seconds for the first two which are en-route, and about 24 seconds for the off route one (I know you hate screen counting, but it's 8 screens your way, 4 screens the optimal way in terms of the spot where your path breaks from optimal to reach Level 2). I takes 3 seconds to cross a screen in a line. 3x4 = 12+10 seconds for heart + you don't go in a line across all those screens (I guess 2 seconds extra) = 24 for my guess. This is if you skip the Magical Sword, which is also more time (1 screen off course, 4 tiles up, 4 tiles back + time in cave with man). So, you're looking at like 14 seconds there. That means there is at least 58 seconds to improve. Coupled with the fact I believe with enough attempts and skill, people can beat this game very skillfully without getting damaged much and very exceptional use of bombs. I think at least a minute can be shaved off your time. But then it is slower for the White Sword verus Magical. So perhaps it's only 20 or so...who knows...with less damage done per attack.

After consulting with two others on this I'm curious who these two others are, anyone we've heard of? there is an extremely risky option plausible for a human run that actually nobody has considered yet and it's being researched on emulator at the moment to verify it's worth it and doable Do you mean something in the TAS that was never considered for an original console run, or something that no one ever thought of? What is this risky option you're talking about? Is it just what you said in the next paragraph or do you have something else in mind? Is it gambling twice? Edit: Btw, Sleepz, when are you gonna be sending in this vid? I just asked Radix about this, and...
mjf345: has richard said anything to you yet about his loz speedrun? do you know if he plans on sending you the vid? brickmasterradix: no mjf345: :-( maybe i'll have to start bugging him about that, i hope he didn't forget about sda brickmasterradix: if he thought the captures of his last run were crap, tell him they got recaptured and are great now

I'm talking with Ramzi and an old friend who I'll reveal at a later time. The first idea brought up was using the Magical Rod vs ever getting the White Sword, enabling a different route. The other thing was just doing the TAS route...but getting the White Sword. The risky tactic was relying on all bombs. Bombs are superior to the sword in a human run...they take out more enemies quicker since no human has the reflexes to perform the masterful sword fighting found in the TAS. The high risk is you need bomb drops like crazy to keep up the strategy. Essentially you never use your sword except when it would be faster. Which is why I was supripsed the TAS didn' tuse more bombs...it can be faster. I'm also not sure how many damage boosts are used in Sleepz video. Everytime there is a bubble or low-damage enemy, you need to try to "damage boost" the way you want to go if it is not too time costly to deviate into the enemy's trajectory. But honestly, I only see Level 9 being hard with the White Sword only. Level 8 is not so bad if you have good reflexes until the Gleeok battle. It's just that Wizzrobes are more random, so there is a higher chance of them doing something to your disadvantage, like cornering you into a "check mate" where you will get hit by something no matter what. I've always viewed the original Zelda as Pac-Man where you could fight back the entire time.

The first idea brought up was using the Magical Rod vs ever getting the White Sword, enabling a different route. I'm confused, how could that possibly be faster? They both do the same damage, the white sword is less out of the way, you can get it sooner, you don't need to kill a room of enemies first, and you save 2 keys.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here, but if you were to get good enough at winging the projectiles at enemies, could the time saved from that (Vs. walking to the enemies and stabbing) equal out the extra time taken to get the rod? I doubt it, seeing as you'd then still have to kill Ganon (Or "PRINCE DARKNESS 'GANNON'" as the original intro calls him) with the Wooden Sword, but again, I'm mainly arguing the other side for its own sake.

Emptyeye, not sure the wand's shot is useful enough to make a difference -- aren't most dungeon monsters immune to it? (Knights, wizards, bunnies, flying eyes, etc.)

This video, I'm not, but the one I'm currently working on probably. I made some final changes to my routine and trying to push it into the 32:45~32:30 range. The best run I could possibly hope for would be just under 32:30. Regarding the time, Mr.Kelly has already verified it to 32:56, and now just waiting on the other 2 judges. When timing it live, it was 32:51, but the recording playback makes it 32:56.

This would be more like a minute slower, not faster. Well maybe not a whole minute, but at least 30 seconds slower guaranteed.
