Oh wow, has it really been that long since I've worked on it? JEEZ. I'm trying to free up some time for TASes these days, so I think I'll start with this game.
I'll upload the WIP from where it was, I've lost track at the moment how far it got and how much faster it was than the previous runs. I remember being pleased with it, but I may choose to start over and try to beat my own time.

Watching it. I could probably save frames at the first Knight boss by grabbing the coins from right to left instead, since he's closer to the left wall. The farthest coin will bounce back instead of me having to chase it. Wow, I only made it to the end of round 4? Quite a ways to go it seems.
Please start over, and use the "FM Chip" option. It provides much beautiful music.
Also please use dega-1.16pre1-win32-z80jb because doze core is not accurate (and it makes it harder to replay the movie on newer dega, your movie desync for me in both 1.16 mame and 1.16 doze).
Yes the glitch is still in mame core.
My first language is not English, so please excuse myself if I write something wrong. I'll do my best do write as cleary as I can, so cope with me here =)

I'm against using FM chip, as it adds frames randomly with different lags,.. my run on Kenseiden (any% TAS) with FM was 16 frames slower.... not a big difference, ... but!! If the low HP alarm sound is less annoying, it's worth a try ... =P
I'm loving the work until the end of level 4, ... too bad it's not a work in progress currently, I would even try to continue it, but I have too much WIPs ._.

Why is a wing boots manipulated from the sea enemy there and not used to stand in mid-air hitting the boss? Would it be faster? .. or maybe it wasn't used because of that incredibly weird sound that happens on the current WIP? .. XD
I'm trying to get started doing TAS and started with this game since I thought it would be an easy game to start with. But I ran into a few issues, like how to manipulate the sea monster to make it drop the blue boots ? Spend like 2 or 3 hours yesterday but no luck, it kept giving me either bombs, tornado, fireball, helmet, gold
Couldnt either get the coordonate X & Y position of the hero, like they did in the tutorial video on the side with mario bros, either i'm dumb or the x & y position is stored differently in this game
I did however manage to find the addresses for the anything related to the gauntlet and I can say it give you atk*2 for the next 10 hits.
And to answer Jungon, Twisted Eye manipulated the sea monster to get the blue boot not the wing boot. This way I'll get a faster walking speed till he can buy the legendary boot in level 6 (just before the sphynx boss)
Unfortunately I'm new to all of this so I dont know how to make a quick encode, and I didnt find anything on the forum about this, neither in the encoder forum or the newbies corner :(
Two more things I wonderd about is:
1. In the vertical room when you jump between two blocks making them go upwards. Would it be possible to use the L+R technique to get jammed into the wal and jump up the entire vertical shaft instead of bouncing between the platforms? (Starts at frame ~33000)
2. The final boss, is it possible to hit it when it extends his neck in order to make its flame attack? If it is possible it would seem that you are missing a lot of oportunities to make an attack against it. Both the green dragon, and the mecha version of it.

edit : just tried, you cannot, if you dont land on the pink blocks when changing screen, you'll just fall to the bottom
2. Well didnt manage to get all the boss pattern, sometime I did manage to hit when it extend his neck, sometime I didnt. And I cant afford to get hit otherwise I'm dead.
My next goal would be to try to display the hitbox from monsters & boss, using lua script. But I'm having a hard time watching ram to get the addresses.

Also have you considered to use any power-ups such as bombs or tornados etc? Maybe they could save time against the last boss for example unless you can hit it with the sword?
I dont know, gotta make some tries, but I since you need to either, kill an enemy or buy the items, it will take more frame than hitting with the sword.
Found a few interesting things about the secondary weapon (bomb, tornado fireball and thunder)
For starter, bomb, tornado & fireball aren't affected by the gauntlet (thus the damage stay the same)
Thunder however IS affected by the gauntlet and the damage done is equivalent to the damage done with the sword you are holding. With the legendary sword, thunder makes 16 damages on the last boss (dragon & meka dragon)
Bomb : utter crap, only 1 damage, didnt even manage to hit the last boss with hit
tornado : damage related with the sword you got, with the legendary sword you I was making
Fireball : same as tornado, damage related to the sword equipped and same damage. However I manage to hit the last boss with it.
Thunder : best secondary weapon, affected by the gauntlet and the damage equal the damage of the sword equipped.
There's a boss ingame in level 8 who gives 10 thunder but going there and killing it makes a great detour. Gonna try and see if its worth it in the end.
Thunder would make a great addition to the sword then by the sound of it. Can you also get thunder from random enemy drops, or do you have to buy it or defeat that level 8 boss to get it?
you can get thunder from enemies but as far as I know, you only get 1.
you get 3 from the shop for 50 gold (but you can often enter 2 times in the shop so it would be easy to get 6)
redid the part in the blue room as suggested, add to resync the later level, especialy the luck manipulation to get drop (cape & gauntlet) and in all i won ~300 frames.
Gotta try the optional route to get the thunder.
Wow! 300 frames just from that? Not bad at all.
Yeah. Try to manipulate enemies, after you have enough gold of course, to drop thunder. It would make a great addition against the last boss, since when you're not able to strike him with the sword you can still deal a good ammount of damage to it.

Thanks for the quick encode Dadoc. Highness already the questions I was going to ask (btw hi Highness, long time no see). About the encode, I presume you aren't using any modified rom? 'Cause the sound of some things sounded weird but I hope thats due to the quick encode.
Also liked how you took advantage of left+right after defeating a boss to grab the coins earlier. I don't believe former players of their wips (work in progress) did this.
Well Twisted Eyes and OmegaWatcher already used this L+R technique in their wip to get the coin faster. And it's clearly faster than doing it by walking & jumping, especially for the 1st boss where you dont have boots.
And I used the rom I had since ages ago. (got the original cartridge somewhere in the house :p)
And I just went through the optional route, to get 10 thunder, but it cost 1037 frames, Dunno if having 10 thunders for the last boss will make the total run faster in the end.
I can also improve the time during the level by having less heart when finishing the level but like it was already discussed in this thread, watching a 10min run with the ugly sound you got when having less than 1 heart wont be very entertaining.
edit : removed the link since I got a desync in the end of the run. Watched it once and it was perfect, now it desync few frame before the end boss. Gotta love how you need to redo all the luck manipulations to get gauntlet if you change a few frames.
