http://code.google.com/p/progenitor/source/browse/trunk/pcsx2-rr Build with these changes. Supposedly allows movie files to sync better (but I don't know). This emulator has save, frame advance, and I guess slow-mo. And nice display: Link to video

It works! Thanks antd! Arukado: it asked the same dll for me. I downloaded it somewhere in google and pasted it in system32 folder (it actually didnt work in system 32 cause my windows is 64, but right below the system 32 folder was the one i needed to put the file inside). Right after that it asked for other dll, i downloaded it and placed in the same folder and that's it. It's working!

Thx but its fine i managed to get one working from an older pcsx2 release. Theres several issues that arent in acmlm code, and code base seem to be older, one thing that make it unbearable is after a few dozen loadstate it bug out and load become save and vice versa. Not to sound like an asshole but its even more garbage to me than acmlm, its not usable either way, and probly impossible to make a full tas, aside from broken states i didnt noticed any better syncing, actually it felt worse.

With the right settings it is somewhat usable: http://www.youtube.com/user/koeiprogenitor1 Although yes, not good enough for here yet.

with progenitor i dunno what is possible or not, all those bugs arent in pcsx2-rr (acmlm), ive been able to sync the first colossus but it aint go farther, there are some huge problems with savestates and such so its a waste overall

Not sure where it wasnt clear enought; none of those build should be used for tasing, either poorly implemented or very buggy but you aint gonna make a decent tas with them, the main reason you see progenitor videos are segmented is because of this, its definitly "possible" but its going to be absurdly difficult right now. Youll need to wait the crew does implement something better on later revision of pcsx2, 1.0 actually looks like to be a good candidate (good compatibility and performances as well)

Chulip--it's an inherently weird game (so it's funny to watch), and requires a lot of path optimization and luck manipulation. You can even have an any % run (the non-tool-assisted version I saw involved grinding for money by finding rings so you don't do any unnecessary kissing) and a 100% run.

The Guitar Hero and Rock Band series. Not just for the 100%/FC'ing, since that's already being done by humans (even on absolutely insane custom songs). There are people who have calculated optimal scores based on star power placement and engine "abuse" like squeezing. These optimal scores are not always 100% true though (as several people have beaten the so-called optimal scores on some songs). I would think that TAS'ing GH charts would confirm or disprove those optimal scores, and might even be able to wig the engine out a bit depending on which game is being TAS'd. The only real problem with these games would be the inherent licensing issues brought on by the underlying music tracks (but this would only apply to videos of the runs themselves, and not the actual input log itself). TAS'ing Trogdor on the NTSC version of GH2 would also prove or disprove once and for all whether it's technically possible to FC, or if the orange streak in the solo is too fast for the engine to accept the input. It's been done on PAL systems, so we know there's something strange going on with the relationship between the framerate, the strumming speed, and the note windows. Plus, it'd be cool to see a one-man-band-TAS on a full-band game like RB or the newer GH games :P

How awesome would be a MGS3 TAS done in this style?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le23bsVURds
