Paint by DS is a game where you paint stuff and play minigames. This run was heavily inspired by the Duck Hunt TAS, where like this submission, completes everything once before ending the movie.

This TAS does once of each event in the game and clicks on the credits.

Painting
Apparently, as long as the shape is around the same, the colors could be all messed up and it will still treat it as an amazing art piece. I used oil painting because I couldn't get the pencil/watercolor to work as fast.
Minigames
Color Memory
Nothing much to say here. You just pick the colors in the same order as shown 10 times in a row. Fun huh?
Hit & Error
This part, while seems incredibly easy to do, was one of the most annoying parts of the run because while I could've simply killed everything as early as possible for 99 points (max score btw), that would be boring, so I planned it and manipulated the game to get 99 points at the last enemy.
Puzzle
This is why I saved the painting I made - so I can show how the game uses it. Otherwise the game would simply load a random background.
Pixel Race
It's just a bunch of pixels. Who gives a crap.
Other comments
The game has no real ending, but you accepted the Duck Hunt TAS along with many other games without endings like Elevator Action, Donkey Kong, etc. So why not this?
BTW, the rerecord count isn't accurate as I did most of the painting and first minigame parts using programmer's notepad.

This was horribly boring. The color matching game was especially terrible to sit through. I enjoyed for a fleeting moment the little rhythm game while playing whack-a-mole, but everything else just was about as fun as coloring a dinosaur.
I love jlun2, but I vote a very big No here. :) Probably vaultable, but what isn't?

Things that are not vaultable -
1) "games" that are not clearly definable as a game - Does this movie even qualify here?
2) goals that are not clearly in the fastest completion or full completion categories - does this aim for fastest time. - It isn't mentioned that this is the goal nor can I really tell it is from watching the encode
3) games that fail to have a clear non-subjective completion point - looping forever is ok, but I'm not sure this has a "loop point" even, or that the criteria of completion is non-subjective.
4) movies that fail to be distinguishable from the best real-time speedruns - This movie may not even pass this as well.
I can't say I was able to figure out what was going on here, but I suspect it failing to meet as many as 4 vault criteria.
Too bad the game starts with a totally trivial game, Color Memory is absolutely boring to watch. And the encode isn't even complete, so there is more boringness to be expected.
How about
Aside from the story part, it fits. Would also cover rhythm games and similar where the only meaningful user input is pressing the button at the right/earliest time, which is completely trivial.
Alternatively, rewriting or adding to the the "must stand out from non-TAS play" segment to include something about being non-trivial. Even if it's just pathfinding.
I'm not sure what to comment other than the fact that the TAS completes all the possible things once.
Well, at the painting part (not shown in the encode) I could've simply started a new canvas and ended immediately, getting 0 stars, but that would be pointless (and kinda means you lost), so I tried to complete a 5 - star painting as fast as possible.
Oh, this game doesn't have an actual "end"; you can easily access the credits just by clicking on the option to see it. So I simply completed everything possible once as fast as possible before clicking on the credits.
The painting part (not shown in encode), pixel race and possibly the puzzle mini-games are impossible to do like that in real time. Especially the painting part since drawing like that using a real stylus is difficult.
:P
Try getting 5 stars in the painting part in real time in less than a minute using the wrong colors like I did. It's not easy (is it even possible?).

I'm going to have to vote no on entertainment for sure. But I don't think this is good vault material. Like you said, you don't complete it as fast as possible, because that would be pointless. So you aren't aiming for time, nor are you aiming to entertain your audience. So I'm not sure what you are aiming for. But the vault was specific goals, and I think this movie fails at achieving those goals.

Then you failed at aiming for time! If you are going to take a break and entertain the audience like a playaround then the movie should be judged as a playaround.
So....I should redo the run and this time create an empty painting? Uh...ok I guess. I'll do it.
Edit:
Reject the warioware run please
Edit 2: Oh dear, the rng changed for the first 2 minigames. I'll be back in a day.

Thanks for the reminder on those!
This seems like a submission that skirts a fine line on most of those points. It's definitely a game - the objectives for the mini-games are clear enough, though the painting portion may be questionable. Completion point - an argument *could* be made that completing all content is completing the game, thought it's subjective as you say. And at least 2 of the mini-games are fairly clearly TAS-level precision (color matching & the maze). Not positive on the painting portion, and the mole whacking aimed for entertainment. So to me this really feels like almost like a "test" to see where exactly the line for Vault submissions will be drawn.

It seems impossible to define a simple goal when "winning" is subjective, so can this really be judged as anything other than a playaround?
I'm voting no (even as a playaround) mainly because of the drawn-out (no pun intended) memory games.
Oh, play it cool. Play it cool. Here come the space cops.
