Things NOT TO DO! : dont bother refilling your lamp in the underground passage of mu continent; dont use sandys karate move, except in the required part of atlantis; dont go for shell bonuses along the way, you get plenty of them for combo moves normally

You have yet to explain how using Squidward will make the TAS have a noticeable difference compared to not using him.

The characters throw their partners either far or high. Squidward throw combines high and far, so that, along with the jump boost he gets from defeating enemies with the jump kick (also useful for beating bosses quicker) ive found ways to use to my advantage for speed.

So...is Squidward way faster? Say, if the game can be beaten in 30 minutes normally, would using squidward result in a lot shorter game time AND look different from playing other characters? If using squidward saves only like a minute in a half hour TAS, then I don't think there should be a "Squidward" catagory for the TAS.

Yes i have beaten itSUPER quicker with squidward than with the others ... Especially considering how hard the fire jellies are without the octo copter --' (by hard, i mean they take SO LONG!)

Sounds like a good reason to use SRAM to me. Is there a hard mode? If there is one that's unlocked after the first time you finish the game, you could use that for your run, and you'd have two reasons to start from save data. And yes, it would be a good idea to post the tricks you know and the route you're thinking of while you're waiting to be ungrounded.

It may be hard in real time, but is it really that long to get rid of them with savestates and frame advance? Edit: In fact, I'll check out this game myself to see how "awful" the other characters are.

Give me a shout if you manage to write up something clear and concise that explains the tricks in the game. I can throw it up on the wiki for you, if I understand the text. I haven't played the game, so please include explanatory notes. And please, test things with savestates and frame advance, we don't care about realtime results. Also, please include some ram watch addresses, there must be something useful there.

The other characters arent awful, its just the fire jellies that take too long. Octo copter takes the long out of it. And im just simply faster when i use squidwards tricks, is all.

Heres another tip, A BOSS GUIDE!: Sandy: use the crates in the sandy boss. They cause the most damage. Blue Jewel Case: The blue jewel is a tough boss, unless you simply dance on it with squidward :D Clockwork Guardian: you can attack the clockwork guardian before he assembles himself when the boss health gauge appears. King Jellyfish: during king jelly, jump while holding the rocks so youdont accidently hit mini jellies. Plankton: During the final boss, if you used the glitch to get squidward in there, jump kick over the cannons, jump kick over the cannons and land on the higher level. Normally you would need to destroy the cannons, which triggers the instant 'throw you off', but by jumping over them without destroying them, you can easily get to plankton in one go.

Yeah theres a hard mode but it only basically applies to the minigames.

Ok ill post most of the tricks some of them are just REALLY minor shortcuts that can be explained by how they're done. That means most of them are basically the same, they just save time in different areas. Btw if you didnt get what i meant about the final boss trick, youll see it in the run.

Normally saving is not very good in tas, but there are two places in atlantis at the end where you want to so you can use the any character almost anywhere glitch (man i love that glitch)

Another tip: when you need to find the golden spatula for krabs, dont bother bringing patrick. Instead jump twice and float across the rivers.

TIP AGAIN!: at places where it would seem you would need to float to get across, some of them can actually be crossed with a double jump and a well timed sponge dive. Like the part in the begining where you need to leave patrick behind, for example.

Ok from now on ill put the tips ont this very post. When getting the red jewel, dont bother with carrying your partner all the way over to the pedestal, since you dont need to. Say, why is my boss guide in here twice? I found out that ninja star is the best way to beat grouper snot.

Wait. Only the jellies cause the other characters trouble? Since you STILL haven't told us how long compared to squidward (seriously, "SO LONG" isn't a time), can you please tell me what stage they appear on? I'm going to test TAS it and compare.

They appear in the volcano on mu continent after getting the music. I guess theres ways that the other characters might be faster, but squid is faster for me on the ACTUAL volcano, and can easily take the jellies out in a matter of seconds, thus a faster run Also, the Other characters dont take that long, but the fastest and most efficient way to do most things where i could use squidward but instead use someone else is pats hip slam, which takes time to charge, and makes him walk slow. There i used the edit feature. Happy?

They only appear in 1 stage? I'm going to try TASing this to see what I can do. I hope the minigames are better than the GBA version, which I played.

In the first stage alone, I found a glitch that makes Spongebob unplayable (you cannot switch back to him lol). I'll see what else I can find. Edit: Also, it seems attacking with spongebob after a double jump boost your speed greatly...until you land, in which you get stuck to the ground for a while. This is useful only if the time it takes to get yourself unstuck is less than the time it takes to walk all the way to the place you got stuck.
