The Emulator

I used Dolphin v3.0-758, which can be find here. Here is the /User/config folder.

The game

Hey there !
Billy Hatcher is an extremely colorful platformer/puzzle game made by the Sonic Team. It had a great and long solo (very long if you wanted to get 100%) and had an awesome multiplayer mode.
The gameplay of this game is simple : you can jump, run, and take an egg with which you can roll, bounce, dash... And many other combination. If you feed the egg with the fruits found by beating ennemies/on the ground/by breaking boxes, it will grow and then you will be able to hatch it and give you a special ability. There are 72 kinds of egg in this game.

The run

This run aims to complete Billy Hatcher And The Giant Egg in as little a time as possible.
As said before, this is a Sonic Team game, and as all of their game, the level design can be totally broken, which is basically what happens in this video. Most of the shortcuts were found by ion12, mrbuu423 and Sonikkustar (but I actually discovered his shortcuts without watching his videos, but I guess I should credit him anyway :) ). Else, there are no glitch. I think all the tricks are really obvious :)

I say that we publish this for now. We can always obsolete it when any improvements are found.

I worked on the level 1-1 and successfully improved it by... 7 seconds, by discovering a new skip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxLcQxDSSYQ Of course, this motivate me to re-do all the run, plus I'm in contact with ion12 who can help me :) And yeah, maybe I made this run a bit too fast... But that let me wondering : what should we do with this submission ? Let it publish and then wait for an improved version or cancel it ? What do you think ?

Cancel it so an even faster run can be the first accepted Gamecube submission.

I can say it's a good TAS, but it's very improvable just watching the first 2 minutes. Sorry to say it, but the angles of your analog input were bad... You should use the most improved angle you can do in the TAS Input for each move. Yes, this takes a long time, but the result is much better ;)

I agree that you should take your time and optimize the run to make it as fast as possible. Find all the skips and glitches you can and apply them to the run so it won't be obsoleted for a long time. It may seem like a lot of work, but your efforts will be rewarded with a run that is much more fun to watch and a more positive viewer response. Good luck!

Well the problem is... In Billy Hatcher, you only have 20 direction. 10 in front of you, 10 in your back. If you put your joystick at angle 90, it will go at the same direction as if it was angle 110... So it's really hard to be accurate :/ But of course I will try.

What about 007 ? :p But yes, I'm cancelling it. Thanks to all the people who voted yes, I promise you I will come back with a better and optimized run :)

It's also unoptimized. We'll have to see how that one does.

In two weeks No I can't, especially since Ion12 and me would like to test all the levels (would be usefull for any% and all emblem runs :) )

I disagree with this statement. If there are known improvements which may be significant (not a frame war) or if there are known strategies or routes which are easily tested but haven't been, then I don't think it should be published. There is some amount of due diligence needed to ensure that quality of submissions remains high.
