I just watched both runs, and I remembered small "known" improvements that could be made to both runs. And it's pretty obvious I'm not going to make them, so here you go.
In the regular run, you can fall onto the roof in palaces 5 and 6 like this

In the glitched run, after taking the first hit in death mountain,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYq68jyx4KQ&t=3m21s you can accelerate to the right better than what I did.
In the regular run, I suspect there are other improvements, especially in overworld manipulation. But maybe also in routes I can't think of and levelup strategy. When I was working with RT I eventually noticed he sometimes pressed down and jump on the same frame, and that loses you 1 frame whenever you do it. But it wasn't worth going back and fixing because it changes all future randomness. So there's room for improvement. If you look for it.
As for the glitched run, it is possible to use left&right to go through one wide walls, so you can get to the raft in level 3 before going to level 2 for the glove and you can use the screen scroll warp to get back to Mido from Bagu's hut. All the tests I did ended up pretty close to the published route's time, the sticking point was the manipulation of the overworld in the swamp.
