It's not that bad. The only level that looks unoptimized is the first one. The rest look good. Good job so far! By the way, if anyone is having trouble syncing this, it works in VBA23.5 and VBA24-alpha (but not VBA24-M).

I tried a run of this game after seeing this topic. I made it to the end of Melman's first stage, and it improves on your wip by 1720 frames or 28.66 seconds. vbm Most improvement come from general playing and being more rough, like taking damage instead of hiding. Also the text boxes were improved. You don't have to click through them by pressing 'A' you can press start to close them instead. Also, the start up of the game you can skip the dreamworks logo with the zebra running by pressing Start.

I have this game. I tried TASing it before, but gave up. I wish you luck.

Is this WIP faster than NitroGenesis' up to the point he's done? If not, unless you want to do it for fun, there isn't much point continuing, because it won't be accepted for publication if it isn't optimised/has known improvements.

Yes, it's 197 frames faster at the point NitroGenesis left off (pressing Start to skip the penguin's text). Looks pretty good. In Grand Central Station and the last level, you seem to bump into walls while you're jumping. Does that slow you down?

i'm pretty sure of it. can somebody encode my wip? and the reason is that i tried to encode it, but the system epic-failed.

Looks great. I don't see anything that looks unoptimized. The only thing is, I just tested this game on VBA24-M and there's a lot less lag. You probably don't want to restart your movie, but I just don't want your movie to be obsoleted quickly.

If you're starting over, I would recommend VBA24-M. There's less lag (due to more accurate emulation) so your TAS would be faster.

not gonna be able to use vbm 24-m just yet, but i did do a wip. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1644849677/MADAGASCAR%20movie%20game%20tas%20by%20yj1997lol.vbm
The game doesn't allow you to use Marty more? He seems to be the fastest, so it would really speed up the levels if you could. Also, you don't need to jump the highest you can every time. It should be faster if you jump lower (if this game's jumping is anything like Operation Penguin's).
