Long time no activity, heh. I guess that's what we get for relying on one person to do all the work :P
Anyway, i asked one of the TSC members told me what his strategy was for getting a high chart time:
If this doesn't help with the TASing, then i'd suggest just doing something that looks good and moving on.
Cruizer, I need da maps :O.

Going to see if I can figure out the RNG's address. I'm crossing my fingers that it works the same as in Colors xD.

Almost finished with Leaf Storm 1. I've had a hard time improving on Nitsuja's WIP. So far I've only found one route deviation that was faster. It loses two of the frames gained from destroying an enemy with boost, but it couldn't be avoided.
This game a lot more fun to TAS than Colors with all of the extra x-velocity to be gained at any given time. Planning Boost usage is important. It's pretty nifty that Boost can continue to be held down when airdashing. The only thing I miss is mid-air boost, but I don't think that it's needed like in Colors.

Tightened up the ending of LS1 and saved 4 more frames. Onto LS2 :D.
I'm taking a break from working on this for a few days to play Xenoblade. I believe I'll be able to optimize the end section of LS2 a little bit further, but it probably will look the same (besides the timer) so I went ahead and uploaded the WIP.

Damn VC...
I think you have just made your Colours run look like just another vid. Past Rush wips may have been fast, but that had style too. I did not even hope Rush videos could look like that. Possibly my fave speedrun from anyone to date.
You will be receiving my engagement ring in the mail shortly. xxx.
edit; saw the vid on youtube rather than here 1st, and posted late so edit to make me look less stupid.
Yeah, I was afraid of that. I think there is more variety in Colors with the different wisps and so that sort of makes up for the speed difference.
Guess you spent so much on the ring, you couldn't overnight ship it too xD.
Thank you fellas, it'll be a few weeks though. After I finish up Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower should be here for me to play too. Then I'll probably be looking at finals after that xD.
I'm debating making this a 100% run, but I need to mess around with Blaze again. The slope glitch is possible to perform without airdash on any slope, but some slopes will take a long setup and might not be worth doing (I need to recheck the first slope on LS1 with Sonic when I start working on this again). I think she might have a legitimate shot at beating Sonic in some levels between her hovering, horizontal trick and ability to do the slope glitch.
Or I could be completely wrong and she'll just be slower copy of Sonic's run in most levels <_<.
I hope you are right. I think I have said earlier in the topic, but I do hope a Blaze run can be both entertaining and unique enough to be worth a second video.
As for making an 100% run; Whilst I mostly prefer 100% runs, it would be awful in this game. You need emeralds, and no one likes Special Stages. Unlike Advance2+3 (And maybe sonic1 and 2) the process of getting to said SS is not going to be interesting/different enough to justify seven 2 minute placebos. (This is ignoring S ranks in 100% definition, but I do not know even the basics to debate that.)
I would hope that instead of an 100% run, you do 2 runs. Sonic, and Blaze. As a Blaze run would need to start with a SRAM anyway, (thats the correct term right?) finishing her run with the Super Sonic/Burning Blaze fight fits perfectly. If you can start with her you can have all the Chaos emeralds already unlocked.
But feel free to go for it on Rush Adventure. (Can't remember exactly what about RA game made me think 100% would work. I'll have to look at the game again to remember.)
edit; rewording of rushed last line to make sense.
After reading your points, I agree with you on the 100% idea. Your suggestion for the verification movie is actually pretty clever, too lol. I wouldn't even think of doing it for SRA lol. Rush was only a contender due to how easy it would be to 100% :P.

That was amazing. Especially LS2. Just a point on the 100%, if you want to demonstrate how fast Sonic can go then you should NOT do the 100% run. When demonstrating Blaze, you should make it 100% as it ties in perfectly with the completion requirement. Sonic will have to go out of his way and lose most speed in 7 levels to get the Chaos Emeralds, fundamentally changing his route. Blaze will not, as she gets her emeralds through the boss fights. So if you wish to see Sonic go fast, and you want a 100% run, then you will need two separate runs.
Doing amazing runs as always VC, keep it up. And good luck with the bosses, I'll be less help as I still don't know how they truly work compared with others on TSC.
Lol thanks :D. I'm sure you'll still be helpful on the bosses even if you aren't completely sure. Hopefully you don't have any 2x damage tricks that I can't figure out in Rush hahaha.

I'm going to restart the run on 0.9.8 just cause... <_<. I haven't even finished my games yet and I'm already bored xD. I'll be split between studying for finals and restarting, so progress will be slow until May-ish. At that point, I'll be trying to pound these two runs out. I also might just work on the Blaze verification movie this week.

this might be the RNG… I’ve tested only the first boss, and while cheating the adress’s value does make the boss repeat the same move, it seems to be HP-based, as the same value will make it do different moves depending on its HP
and you might know this already, but the boss moves to Sonic’s position before deciding what to do next, so I guess it’s faster to keep Sonic under the boss
I've tried improving upon my WIP in the process of converting to 0.9.8, but my ideas didn't pan out for abusing the slope glitch and everything else was already tight. I'm upon the boss now, but it's going to be put off for awhile because EVIL IS BACK.
what do you mean “EVIL IS BACK”? if you’re having trouble with the boss (or even if you aren’t), could I have the .dsm? I’m curious to try it myself, but can’t promise anything
edit: btw, how did the conversion go? slower or faster?
Taking a break, but I'll be working on it again sometime before the end of the year. I'm currently in one of those burnt out moods where I don't have any desire to TAS, but I always snap back (happened 4-5 times during my Colors run) so don't worry xD. My WIP is currently on the WP boss but I don't plan on uploading anything.

Yeah, I did. That's partially what caused this break lol.
Those two Castlevania runs being submitted has reinvigorated my desire to work on this.
I'm dropping 0.9.8 and going back to 0.9.7 because I can't get the turbo button to work, and lua stops working whenever it feels like (might be the lua.dll's fault though). I'm crossing my fingers that the boss is going to convert over. When I post .dsm's, just make sure Advanced bus timing enabled is ticked... (this'll be the last time I'll have a run with this enabled lawl).
Not sure if it'll be of any use, but I found that traveling along a loop rail/vine at 13-15k*16 x-velocity (any faster will eject you from the rail as if you ran up a ramp) will cause a bug in which you keep on "riding" it indefinitely even though the rail has ended until you hit a wall/object/enemy. Not sure how much application this'll have, but hopefully it will at one place since it's so funny to watch.
EDIT
Boss didn't sync, I'm putting this back on hold. I've got the correct routine of the four heading into the fight, but the frustrating part is manipulating the rolls during the fight.
7/26
Extremely frustrating, I can't get the boss to shift it's amount of rolls on it's second wheelie. Gotta go to work, so I'll try it again tomorrow.
