It would be great if we do a tool assisted speedrun on the puzzle mode.

I like your enthusiasm, just one problem.

Wouldn't a puzzle mode TAS basically amount to a high-speed walkthrough?

I'd love to see a Puzzle Mode run on this game, too bad it's an old post and people don't look at this section anymore, but .... I'd love to see it anyway, or even do it, as I did the walkthrough posted on GameFAQs.... +D

Here it is, WIP Runs on Dega 1.16 MAME I think it's not hard to manipulate the results I want for each lesson/level, but ... it has to be manipulated at the very beginning before the screen stops being white ..... some levels will be much slower (especially level 9, which is why I made a stop..) XD To be continued... =P Notes: 1- I've already started a new version because of the new improvements I found ... it's not best to start with a lower blue ... upper blue is faster... @__@ 2- Maybe getting 2 pairs of yellow on level 3 was pure luck, but .. I think I can do it again... XD 3- Level 5 is the best part, I think, it's so glitchy that I can fill in the screen, not take out any refugee, and still win... XD 4- I'm thinking of new solutions on level 7 because it has to be more vertical to be faster.... +_+ So .... is this appealing? o.o EDIT 2012/jan/10 Already redid what I could and .... only 18 frames better for now x_x trying to get a good set for level 9, one that gets the solution in only 8 pairs.. +D And lower blue was faster on level 1, the game take more time to drop it on the right spot, so I could get 2 frames faster with better acceleration (yes, acceleration...) XD 5- Acceleration of beans: it works exactly like when we do a mistake while typing, we press left, and hold it, first, we go one letter left, and then, a little pause, and next, it's running.. =P ...and the pausing part can be completely skipped in the game, we can press left more than 15 frames before the pair come in .. =P

I think it's a little more than a walkthrough, ... manipulating the beans and pairs to optimal results is playing with luck itself... and some level are meant to have unusual solutions in tool-assisting... some that people really can't rely on, like level 5 .. XD

Actually, Puyo Puyo 2 has a slightly different behavior from Puyo Puyo 1. The main difference is the offset rule that was added in 2 (TSU). http://puyonexus.net/wiki/Offset_rule

Doing the puzzle mode will be a separate category. (the puzzles are the same as in the quest mode of Puyo Puyo / Puzlow Kids)
