Terribly sorry for resubmitting. I discovered a glitch that allowed me to kill final boss about 3 seconds faster, and I can't live with imperfections like that.
Emulator: snes9x-improvement6 (default settings, WIP1 timing, enable left+right)
Abuses programmer errors Takes damage to save time Aims for fastest time possible Expporation glitches were not allowed in this run (see OmnipotentEntity's *entry for those), no "Death Mountain Descent" either...
In this game Link's must save Princes Zelda and the rest of Hyrule from Ganon once again. In his quest he collects many items such as, bow and arrows, hookshot, master sword, etc. He solves puzzles and defeats foes throughout 13 dungeons before meeting Ganon for the final time. Link does all this in 80 minutes!
Making this moving was very interesting but very time consuming as well. This may have been too long of a game to tackle for a first time attack, but I am happy with the result. There are a couple of techniques used in this run that are not viable on the console. Levitation glitch (pressing dash every other frame to prevent falling in pits) is used frequently but usually isn't a major factor in route, most of the time you could bomb jump over stuff or go around. The other is up+down, this mainly to wobble which makes Link walk 2 pixels each frame when moving left and up, as opposed to 1,2 every other (33% faster walking up/left). Besides just these there are lots of little tricks and glitches that add up to lots of time saved. If you haven't played this game you probably will think many of the glitches used are normal though.
Here are some key times, I may add dungeon splits later.
select character 997 frames / 16.7 seconds (competition timing starts) final hit to ganon 282781 1:18:33/ (competition timing stops) last input 288967 / 1:20:16
So the competition time is 1:18:16

Yep, don't worry, this will be published no doubt. A lot of the stuff here won't help you though...besides the levitation glitch and wobbling, he also uses a lot of save/quits. But there are a couple things in here which seem to be practical on a console. The trick to instantly jump off ledges, improved use of the hookshot as a speed booster, etc. Awesome movie, easy yes vote from me. -Josh
but then you take my 75 perchance chance of winning, if we was to go one-on-one, and then add 66 and two-thirds ch...percents...i got a 141 and two-thirds chance of winning at sacrifice

Voted yes, but I did see some parts where it could be improved a little. But I doubt even 30 seconds can be made from micropath optimizations.
Well, who knows ... Personally, I don't know if it is the fastest route. Something that annoys me like Michael Fried wrote, is it necessary that 3rd sword?

AFter you voted no it wont be created as avi Until Bisqwit or Dehacked encodes it that is ;)
How do you know that I will not encode this movie?? Because of that 2 GB limitation?

You have to rescue the smithy's partner as one of the conditions to enable super bomb for sale. So it is clearly faster to get the tempered sword which only cost a small amount of time in addition to this and pays itself off in nearly any single boss fight. The only thing I would question swordwise is wether or not to get the gold sword, you are already there to get silver arrows, and it doesn't take much more time to get. But it really only helps in the 7th crystal dungeon and the final fight with Ganon. It probably does save time to get the gold sword, but if it doesn't if would save almost nothing. I will look into this more...
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

Ah, sorry, it has been so long time that I haven't played that game that I forgot it was required to save that smithy's partner to obtain that super bomb.

Things that would take longer: Each head of Trinexx Defeating Trinexx's body Defeating Moldorm in Ganon's Tower Any enemy you use the charged tip+swing tactic vs spin attack Ganon battle. How long does it take to get the sword? I tried to do it in my head...time from getting Silver Arrow to moment you can move after getting sword (you have to walk out, so don't factor that). I think it is 5 seconds for the text to activate, then 1 second for text, 1 second for toss, 3 seconds for fairy to appear, 2 seconds for text, 3 seconds for fairy to fade, 2 second for item hold, 1 second for text. So...18?

Actually, it seems as if he glitched out the wait period. And you can strike the Moldorm battle, Link floats remember. :) As for the Ganon Battle, I doubt it would take much longer, he has a lot of time to kill waiting on Ganon to go to his 3rd phase of battle. But landing 6 hits on Trinexx's body vs 3 hits will be a chore. But not much slower. I'd go through the movie again to enumerate what he kills with the Gold Sword. But it's 2 AM here. EDIT: And I forgot to mention this, but where you glitch out the items to throw and swipe the sword at the same time: classy.

can you harm ganon with normal slashes using the tempered sword? I don't trust my memory on this one, but to harm ganon with the standard master sword you need to use charged spin attacks.

Well, if he's worried about that, isn't he worried about being summarily executed for downloading complete footage of copyrighted games without the support of their copyright holders?

Yeah, I am not sure but Ganon might be able to be defeated just as fast with the tempered sword. The first phase takes 6 hits and 7 hits for second from the gold sword. I assume it is just double with the tempered sword. It was asked wether you need to hit with spin attacks with tempered, and the answer is no. So thats probably still possible to do in 1 round. In turtle rock though its not just the boss, those orange guys of 4 balls... You have to kill 4 of them and they are pretty easy with gold sword, but I know its harder with regular.
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

Nevermind the videos are a performance, and thus the performer retains (C) to the performance, since assuming the purchased the game, they retain legal right to the property (video games you buy the product, not just the license to use it).

Yeah I have read a quote from Nintendo at some point that speed run movies is valid fair use in their eyes as it is far removed from the original work. Despite the levitation (not as big a factor as I thought it would be) I did see a lot of small things that TSA would be interested in, a lot of creative uses of bombs and the cane that saved several seconds each time and should be repeatable on the console. flat - The Helmsaur King battle seemed kind of slow with the switching to the bomb in the middle... are you sure its not faster to use the arrows to finish him off? The other boss battles were very impressive. I didnt know that the little Vitreous eyes could be attacked before they jump :-) looks like it saved a lot of time. Also attacking the Trinexx heads from behind was pretty nice (could be doable on console too maybe). Armos strat was sound too and I liked how you trapped Koldstare in the corner. There was great use of the spin to take out multiple enemies (good thing you didnt use a greedy strat and just hack something the first time you could); two or three of them really stick out in my mind. Its funny how the levitation glitch completely killed the need to do 6 before 5, the quintessential speed optimization but ohh well.

Using the bombs was faster than flat out hammer, 1 bomb = 4 hammer hits. I hit with 2 bombs and the cost was virtually only switching items twice (2 seconds). While to hit 8 times with the hammer would take at least 3 seconds. As for arrows to finish him, 1 hammer hit = 2 arrows. Using arrows probably wouldn't be faster because the time to switch to arrows (1 second + 8 * 17 frames = about 3 seconds, while the 4 hammer hits took like 2-3 seconds?? I was running low on arrows too... I'll admit this fight might be able to be slightly improved, but not by much.
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

This is what I was waiting for. Not the OmnipotentEntity's movie. A real timeattack. Voting yes.

Hey now, Omni's work while a little slow in coming out uses sound methodology and... heh halfway through this comment I realized you were talking about the glitch run and not Omni's WIP on the forums...

Is anyone else having trouble getting the torrent for this movie to start? My BT client says that the torrent is not authorized for use on the tracker.

I think this movie deserves a star. Edit: I just edited in the classes for this movie and clicked save, but when I go back to the page where you download the movie from, it still says (undefined), though if I click to edit it again, it shows the classes that I entered.

I have a question about the ice castle. In the avi, at 47:43 and 47:48, I can't figure out why those two bombs were dropped. What were those for?
