Well... I think you should optimize those "Iridion 3D" stages. Try to go through them without getting hit, or without hurting any enemy. Whatever suits you best.

The red gem is not out of your way at all and is almost completely easy to do! Don't hit the ! box yet, but follow a minute wumpa trail down onto an iron platform (once you stand on the NITRO ! Platform, run to the right and you'll land on it if you're not sure). Continue moving to the right, timing over the security disks to collect the red gem! Then just use a bit more skill to backtrack back, climb the spring boxes back to ground.
This is what I found on GameFAQs. It's past the fourth or fifth checkpoint, past the high wall. I couldn't get over the wall to the platform above, so I couldn't check it out for myself. I hope this helps a bit. EDIT: I was somehow able to jump up there by sheer dumb luck. Further on, past several Nitro boxes, you will see a grey and green ! blocks. Hit ONLY the green ! block, jump down the pit and follow the path. The red gem is at the end. If you didn't hit the green ! block, a wall of nitros will be blocking your way.

Slight movement change: sliding twice in rapid succession is actually FASTER than slidespinning, if only by a few frames. Consider this side-by-side comparison.

Here's a new test using double slide, but apparently box takedown techniques need to be changed to fit the DS because this run is almost a second slower than pirate's sample. What do we need to change here?

Started Crash 2 because it's easier. A (very) rough WIP's here.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1466849388/0848%20-%20Crash%20Bandicoot%202%20N-Tranced%20.vbm I'm not going to actually do a run unless you want me to. I just hope this sparks some interest for a full run.

Sure, go ahead. I haven't touched this game in two years and if my memories serve me correctly it's really annoying to TAS. So go ahead if you want to do it :P

It wasn't that annoying for me. Anyways are there any improvements? This will be a LONG TAS so if there are any improvements, tell me now!

You might want to experiment with cancelling the sudden stop at the end of a slide with a spin. I remember it worked in The Huge Adventure, but I'm not entirely sure about whether that carries over. In any case, you don't need to worry about this kind of movement for long, since you get the superslide which has no stopping and is easily the fastest move in the game.

If you really want it, this is an encode of a really old, really bad WIP I did for this game http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5195077582058847776

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1781637434/100%25run.vbm Short bit of a 100% Crash Huge Adventure run I want to attempt. This WIP is more to ask anyone about the techniques I use. Please give feedback to help me with anything I might be doing wrong. edit: by the way, just looked at a more completed run above, and I see some things I didn't pick up on on my own. So obviously, I would be redoing this run here. But being a new TASer and doing this with only my own knowledge, tell me what you think.

I have a Level 1 TAS test here in N-Tranced. Well, it is not a 100% run but it is an Any% run. In this run, I'd use pirohiko's move which is "Slide-Spin" move as an improvement for this run. My Question is: Which move takes more speed? The Slide-Spin move? or the Slide only move?

I am also working on this progeto ^ ^ I advise you to use both (sometimes). but I prefer to use the undergrowth and the long jump.

Bhezt rhy said: My Question is: Which move takes more speed? It is fast, but not much. See an example here: http://www.4shared.com/get/I-KnmEfE/Crash_Bandicoot_XS__E_.html <--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------> Leaps are usually very long, but still is cool. This demonstration is a game 100%. Really ... It's all in the path.

I can not rush, but the TAS I'm doing is very complicated. Soon be posting an improvement of this work. Maybe I'll finish next year.

I just finished a crash bandicoot XS TAS with only the crystals. Here is the download http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/109913818/Crash%20Bandicoot%20-%20The%20Huge%20Adventure%20TAS.vbm NOTE The rerecords count is wrong! There are 2239 rerecords Before I publish it, I'd like to know what do you think

Looks very good... I did however notice a few things: In general: Jumping up into boxes slows you down... are you sure there is no other method to get past those areas? Like sliding... Ice levels in general: Have you checked if you keep your speed from the ice if you jump on the same frame that you land like in Crash Bandicoot 2 on PSX? Flying levels in general: You should edit out any missed shots, missed shots tend to look sloppy. You should be able to edit them out using a hex editor. Space levels in general: You can stand on the edges of the platforms when they are vertical for a short period of time. (This works in the E version at least) In Dingodile: Can't you hit him sooner if you stay closer to his shield when it goes down? I see that you are not as close as possible, in the first hit you're almost half a centimeter away. N-Gin: It looked like you could have caused more damage to him when he was going in circles than you actually did.

Sliding against boxes kept speed only when it was one, incase of more boxes it would've lost speed For dingodile, yes, maybe I could've been more close to him and then hit him more quickly

If this might help : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeU2GjeZopg On very short distance, like before a jump or falling down, Slide/Slide might be prefered because of it takes less frames to perform, however when travelling long distance on the ground Slide/Spin is the way to go. As I mentionned in the workbench, when you do two Slide/Spin in a row, on the second one, the spinning animation isn't displayed, allowing Crash to reslide 9 frames faster than a normal Slide/Spin + he keeps on sliding while standing up so there's no time loss. Anyway, good luck to all working on this game ^^

I have made a short WIP of the first level (and some of level 2) of "The huge adventure", maybe it can be of use. I abuse the movements physics to maximize my average speed. It improves the first level of the latest submission by 330 frames if I'm not mistaken. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1120770398/0345%20-%20Crash%20Bandicoot%20-%20The%20Huge%20Adventure%20%28U%29%28Independent%29.vbm As always with my WIPs I'm not at all sure I will continue it, but hopefully it will come in handy for someone else.

This one looks very good and well optimised. However you start spining 1/2 frames too late and in the process lose the cancel spining animation of the second slide spin which saves a couple of frames each time. Optimal pattern would be : (>R) [>]9 (>B) [>]25 (>R) [>]9 (>B) [>]14

I found this WIP on Youtube. It was posted by lucasdiv2010. The improvement in Globe Trottin' is amazing, although not complete. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDZFy02cUlU
